The Markov camp has indicated they doubt he'll sign with someone today.

The big names still out there are:

Markov
Radulov (update: he just signed with Dallas)
Marleau (update: he just signed with the Leafs)
Shattenkirk (update: he just signed with the Rangers)
Thornton (update: he just re-signed with San Jose)

..thanks Doc......and where is Big Joe.....

He met with Mike Babcock and Mark Hunter recently. Now i'm hearing there was a chance Toronto was looking at the possibility of signing both he and Marleau. But now Thornton is supposedly out. Maybe he didn't like Toronto's policy of no facial hair, who knows. So now i'm hearing he's waiting to see where Marleau will sign. My guess is that Joe Thornton will re-sign with San Jose. We'll see.

Shattenkirk signed withe the Rangers. Since he is from Greenwich, CT not a surprise........

What's surprising according to the experts is the kind of money he still managed to get considering everyone knew he wanted to go to NY and that he's terrible defensively. Oh well, good for him!

the GEO did nothing and do you know why, we are good as it is plus we have no money left. Still say we beat Anaheim and should have moved onto the next round.

He was widely considered the No. 1 player in the 2017 free agent class, and for good reason. Shattenkirk is 28, a coveted right-handed shot, an outstanding puck-moving defenseman and an above-average possession player. Those characteristics priced him into the $7-million-per-yer range and, we assumed, into the max allowable term for a player not re-signing with his existing team: seven years.

We know Shattenkirk could’ve landed a longer term and a bit more money elsewhere. So why did he join the Rangers? The biggest hint is that he lives in the Hamptons. It’s a hometown signing for him. That may have given the Blueshirts leverage – that and the fact they’re still in their Stanley Cup contending years and may have extended their window by virtue of signing Shattenkirk.

STN Shattenkirk may live in the Hamptons, but where his family lives and where he grew up (in Greenwich) is much closer to NYC than the Hamptons. His Twitter which has not been updated says he is a "New Yorker at heart":

Greenwich is on the border with NY and most people who live there either work in or commute extensively to NYC.

His stock dropped down considerably after he was traded to Washington and he was terrible in the playoffs. His play since joining the Caps scared off a lot of potential suitors, including the Leafs. His defensive liabilities were exposed more than ever once he joined Washington and his stock dropped.

Radulov signs five-year deal with Dallas

The deal is rumoured to be in the range of $6 million or so per year.

Habs fans aren't happy!

I agree that signing Radulov at the kind of deal he got from Dallas would have been nuts for Montreal or any team in the league. Not for a guy his age who's never scored 20 goals more than once.

Ales Hemsky for 1-year makes more sense, even if he'll soon be 34.

Signing goalie Carey Price to the biggest contract in NHL history (for now) is nuts! Not only is he just a goalie, but he's not even the best goalie in the NHL! Not only that, but his best years are behind him and he's suffered two very serious knee injuries in the past! All it does is guarantee that the habs will never get a true #1 center for the next 8 years at least.
