what a fucking steal it was to grab paul byron for nothing last year! he is at same age where martin st-louis began to dominate, do we have that kind of clutch player in byron? time will tell but so far he is on the right path!

cheers,
Je ne sais pas si il va avoir la carriere de Martin Saint-Louis, mais pour le moment c'est un joueur à garder avec le Ch, faut le proteger au moment du repechage de l'expansion des Vegas Knights.

2 fantastic games again last night, one in Arizona, one in Columbus!

Side note, Freddie Andersen has been one of the top 2 goalies in the entire NHL for the month of december and has now got his save % to .929, the Leafs indeed finally have a great goalie again and this guy is entering his prime by goalie standards for the next 5-7 years. The Leafs defense is by no means the best or even close to being the best in the NHL so the way Freddie is manning the net is even more eye opening. They have had so many games where they only let in 1-2 goals as of late.

Auston Matthews quietly is leading all rookies in voting for the rookie of the year with Mitch Marner, Laine and Nylander on his tail. Matthews does everything well, not just get goals which he now has 16, plays a stellar 2way game, leads by example and is a coaches dream.

Great way for him and the Leafs to end the Christmas break on a good note in his hometown last night. Nice to see Shane Doan get #400 as well, Matthews hero growing up in Scottsdale AZ.

Last night Columbus beat the Habs 2-1 for their 12th straight win and now have the best record in the NHL and the best goal differential! Tortorella has this team on fire!
And the habs' slump continues!!! Plenty of teams incl. Ottawa just about to pass them in the standings! Team's slump reminiscent of last season!

Lately the habs are scoring as much as the Impact......you can't win hockey games if you can't score goals.

p.s. Strong game by Al Montoya, but Sergei Bobrovski was a tad better.

Andersen is only 27 years old and was the co-winner of the Jennings trophy last season and the league's best goalie tandem. He was a runner-up for the Calder trophy two years ago. The Viking has been nothing short of a monster over the past 2 months!! He had a tough October, but it was expected considering he missed his entire training camp due to an injury suffered during a World Cup elimination game. In November he was extremely good, but in December he was literally unbeatable and easily a top 2 goalie in the league! Lou Lamoriello now looks like a genius for signing him to a reasonable 5-year contarct!! Well done, Lou!!! :thumb:

Auston Matthews has been nothing short of remarkable throughout his very young NHL career. He's already a dominant center and the other day a hockey panel couldn't find a single fault in his game. He's already a great two-way player and lately has shown that he also has the potential to be a prolific scorer. Many are predicting that he'll end up with more goals than Patrick Laine by the end of the season and he's the odds-on favorite to win the Calder trophy.

The Leafs lead the league in the highest number of rookies in the lineup and what's astonishing is that they're all leading the team on its way to contention! They've all impressed tremendously: Matthews, Marner, Brown, Zaitsev, Nylander, Hyman, etc. The Leafs have a great future up ahead!!! The habs?? Not a single rookie in their regular starting lineup, and the injury-prone Carey Price is not only getting older, but he'll be expecting a big pay raise two years from now. People are predicting $10 million or more. That'll greatly affect the team's cap, considering Galchenyuk and Pacioretty will also be expecting a considerable pay raise by the same time.

In other news, the Leafs have been open to offers for forward James Van Riemsdyk, who will be UFA two years from now and will likely be receiving offers in the $7 million range. He's big, he can score, he can skate and has great hands, which should make him attractive to many teams. He is also a very well-liked player, which should make him an instant fit in any dressing room. The Leafs are rumoured to be looking for a top defenceman to boost their defence. Cam Fowler's name has been floated around. Many believe JVR would prefer playing on the east coast at some time in order to be closer to his family. But for the time being, he'd be an extremely great asset for any contending team.

The schedule does not appear to be favorable to Columbus as 3 of their next 4 are on the road and they must win all 4 to tie the record:

12/29 at Winnipeg
12/31 at Minnesota
1/3 vs. Edmonton at home
1/5 at Washington

I predict the streak will end in Minnesota Saturday night as Dubnyk stones the Blue Jackets.

Crosby Catches McDavid

Sidney Crosby has finally caught Conor McDavid and now leads the NHL in both goals, and overall points:

http://www.espn.com/nhl/statistics

Note that Devan Dubnyk continues to maintain sizable leads in the GAA and save %, the latter on pace to break the NHL record at almost the halfway point. He looks more like a body double for Frankenstein than a star goalie, but right now he is terrifying opposing teams, so he is an all-purpose monster.

Sidney Crosby is currently on one of the best streaks in hockey history. It's been decades since we haven't seen such a streak.

He looks more like a body double for Frankenstein than a star goalie, but right now he is terrifying opposing teams, so he is an all-purpose monster.

Devan Dubnyk is currently the best goalie in hockey. Yes, even better than the habs god Carey Price. Give Dubnyk the Vezina immediately!

p.s. Currently, i'd take Freddy Andersen over Carey Price anytime! Andersen has been among the league's top 2 goalies since November 15th. What a steal by Lou Lamoriello!

Freddie A is exactly what the Leafs thought they were getting when they signed him to that 5 year deal in the summer aka a steady tender who gives the team a chance to win every night to a Great goalie. He is the real deal folks, put him on the team with the best defense in the league and he wins the vezina.

Don't look know folks but the lowly deadtroit red wings are holding up in the basement of the atlantic :thumb: Happy New Year :)

Kuzy to the rescue

http://www.russianmachineneverbreak...n-gate-saved-by-electrician-evgeny-kuznetsov/

There should be a fail switch in the case of power failure- even my electronic garage door opener has one. In other words you pull a switch, or a cord, and the gate switches to manual operation. I can't believe that any electronic gate would be installed without one. They did not install my garage door opener without one and it's a whole lot less expensive.

But good thing Ovie made the video or they might have fined his ass for being late to the game! LOL he should tell his plumber install a fail switch for next power failure.

Another big game for rookie phenom Auston Matthews last night against Tampa. He had a goal and an assist in leading the Leafs to a hard-fought 3-2 overtime victory. His goal opened the scoring. He now leads the league in scoring first goals. Matthews is now fifth in the league in goal scoring. This is quite an achievement considering he went on a goal-less 13 game streak earlier in the season.

Did you know that the Leafs have 3 rookies among the league's top 4 rookie scorers? Matthews, Marner & Nylander.
