A perfect quote from Theo Fleury in "Playing With Fire":

"If I had the puck in the neutral zone and I looked up and Dion Phaneuf was there, I'd take him on one on one, but if it were Nick Lidstrom, I'd dump it in."

Exactly! You can ALWAYS beat Phaneuf but you can almost NEVER beat Lidstrom!

He must have written this when he was on one of his crack cocaine binges. :D

Glad you enjoyed Doc's amusing little picture lg. It was probably taken right after the celebration for one of the FOUR recent Cup victories by the Wings.

Who knows - if the Leafs are still around in the 25th century and win their next Cup, maybe the same thing will happen to them.

Question: Who was picked 36th - and LAST - in the All Star Draft?

Answer: Phil Kessel. Kind of makes sense I guess, since he's The Invisible Man.

The only problem is that the question is flawed. Why, you ask? Well, simply because Kessel wasn't picked last. In reality, 35 other players were picked and then ONLY The Invisible Man remained, so Nick Lidstrom was FORCED to take him.

I agree with you, it's great to see Phil Kessel be picked as an all-star. He'll likely be an all-star for many years to come.

By the way, i missed the draft....does anyone know in which order Tyler Seguin was chosen? Was he picked by Staal or Lidstrom?

Also, which Habs forwards/defencemen made it to the all-star game? Did Darche make it? PK? Pouliot? Andrei K?

Anyone else sorta notice all the All-Stars, top shape, lookin' like they have 0% body fat, machines ... then I saw the Vid on TSN with Kessel and he looked pretty outta shape in comparison. Seriously, he was looking very Vlad Krutov-ish...

Doc, seriously... if Kessel's outta shape I don't see how he'd be capable of hitting his top speed and being as effective. And if that's the case, he's no better than doghouse boy, Frolov.

I think Kessel has been eating at the same restaurant as Brian Burke. They're both starting to look like 3 dead actors: John Candy, John Belushi, and Marlon Brando. Maybe the team's name should be changed to the Toronto Whales.
