Hello everyone,

Once again it seems that some people have decided to ignore the starting post in a thread. I would advise that everyone go back to page one and read it before I start handing out some very long suspensions. If anyone wants to engage in flaming and instigating, I suggest that they do so in the Free For All thread that was created for just that purpose. Any further posts that violate the spirit of this thread as set forth in the starting post will result in removal of the post and an instant 1 week suspension.

I will be reviewing this thread in detail over the weekend, as well as the Leafs Nation thread, and will possibly hand out suspensions for repeat offenders. I will give everyone who has violated the starting post rules in either thread until Sunday afternoon to delete their posts before I remove them myself and hand out suspensions.

Hello Mod8,

In my position I deal with people who either refuse to admit wrong-doing or don't seem to have the capacity to understand what they did wrong. Often it's both. So after looking over many of these posts it will be interesting to see how your directive works out, and who can't or refuses to understand.

Happy head-scratching,

You can't win a horse races with a stable of cows. The writer opines that Burke is at least as much to blame as Wilson. It seems that the media find Burke intimidating. I can't think of any other reason that his firing is not being also advocated. Can even the bluest fan analyse the set of his trades and say that his reign has been beneficial to the Leafs?

No apologies needed my man, it is your opinon . But all i can say is Ron Wilson is a very good coach, it is up to the players to execute what he asks them to do, and in most games this season they have done so, for 57 minutes a game, the problem is they need to do it for 60 minutes a game. There the youngest team in the league and are learning, and as one NHL expert said just this week, they have to lose together to learn to win together, soooooooooooooo true.

Wilson still has this team under his wing, they fought hard tonight to beat the bruins and if not for Tim Thomas, the game would of never had to go into overtime to begin with, Thomas was a maniac in goal, making some unreal saves on several occasions.

Tim Thomas: the best goaltender in the NHL

After watching last night's Leafs/Bruins game, won by the Leafs in dramatic fashion, i've realized that Boston goalie Tim Thomas is currently the best goaltender in the league. Without Thomas' heroics last night, the Bruins didn't stand a chance to win the game. He was absolutely amazing! The most amazing save of the night occurred in overtime:

The team is not necessarily underachieving if you look at the current roster. They work extremely hard in most games. He's been the coach for less than 3 seasons. My guess is that he'll likely finish the season with the Leafs, and deservably so. The question is: are there any better coaching candidates available? The names of Ken Hitchcock & Bob Hartley have been mentionned. However, those ex-coaches were fired several times once their tough-guy acts got tiring with the players. They're good coaches for a year or two. If the Leafs fire Wilson now & hire someone else, it's likely that we'd be hearing the same "fire the coach!" talks once again in two years or so. If the Leafs ever fired their coach (it will happen one day), i'd like to see a younger guy behind the bench. Someone with a new coaching philosophy. Heck, i'd even applaud hiring someone like Guy Carbonneau. I wouldn't mind a Kirk Muller, someone who's starting to make rounds around the league as a possible top-notch NHL coach if he ever decides to head towards that direction. One young coach who is currently very highly-regarded among hockey circles as a top-notch future NHL coaching prospect is none other than Dallas Eakins, currently coaching the Toronto Marlies.

Even though i'm as frustrated with Wilson as anyone maybe 1 game out of 4, he's managing as best as any other coach would with what he's got to play with. The other night at the end of the third period against Tampa Bay, i said that he had the wrong players on the ice. But if the Leafs would have prevailed, i probably would have called him a genius. It's also not his fault that Luke Schenn suddenly began thinking he was Bobby Orr in the overtime, which resulted in a 2-on-1 for Tampa Bay, with Simon Gagne scoring the overtime winner.

Toronto's fortunes should change once captain Dion Phaneuf returns in two weeks. With Phaneuf in the lineup, the Leafs have a winning record. Without him, they have one of the worse records in the NHL (not counting the Devils & Islanders). Colby Armstrong, now on the first line, had a huge impact in last night's win. The powerplay finally looked like a powerplay with Armstrong standing in front of the net while being mugged by Zdeno Chara. What i'd also do if i happened to be the Leafs coach would be to insert Colton Orr on the powerplay and tell him to stand right in front of the net. I'd like to see Chara trying to move this guy!

Colby was one of the best players on the ice last night indeed. and with Colby in the lineup the Leafs are 6-1-1 I agree we need Dion back badly and they are saying about a week to a week and a half the Captain will be in the lineup.

As far as Wilson having to go with what he has, he has talent, they just need to learn to maximise that talent and play as a team for SIXTY MINUTES, not 57 minutes, and they will be fine and will start winning consistently. Great game last night, the "Kids" showed a ton of heart, lets hope they build off that win as the schedule is brutal the next week.

Hello everyone,

26 posts have been removed from this thread. They run the gamut from simple off topic posts to attempts to instigate a flame war with other posters. A note of warning to GHG, if you make one more reference to any poster's previous comments from a past thread, you will be suspended. A note for JH Fan, stop playing moderator. If you have a problem with someone's post, contact me by PM and I will handle it. Telling people that they are breaking the rules will only lead to a flame war.

If you want to have a flame war, do it in the Free For All thread, not here.

I believe they've won all 3 games too!

Yes indeed. Quite easily. But i doubt they would have lost those games had Subban been in the lineup. Montreal is on a great roll currently & Carey Price appears nearly invicible. They're playing with a lot of confidence & playing Jacques Martin's system to a "T".

However, Carey Price cannot be between the pipes every single game. He's only been rested for two games so far & they'll burn him out by the time the new year comes around if they don't start to rest him. As it happened a couple of years ago when he wasn't playing as much as now, come playoffs time, he might not have anything left in the tank.

If Ryan Miller can play 76, Martin Brodeur 78, and Grant Fuhr 79 in a season while all being over 30, I'm pretty sure a 23 year old can handle 70-75 without a problem. :)

Possibly. But he hasn't been able to hack it in the past. Plus, there is only one Martin Brodeur & only one Grant Fuhr. As for Ryan Miller, how far has he taken his team into the playoffs? Not very far. He's usually worn down come playoffs time. Brodeur hasn't done much in the playoffs in the past few years either. Weren't they swept in four games last season? And this season, he absolutely stinks! He's breaking apart & often gets injured. Good thing he's injured again or else New Jersey would lose games by more goals.
