Nop ! that's is one good reason to be a Habs fan + .. not being a Leafs' fan.

Cuze we should now get rid of the a*sholes who brought the Habs there.

While for the Leafs... it seems that even re-building the team didn't work.
Ah well... Why break a habit ?

2006–07 3rd, Northeast. Did not qualify
2007–08 5th, Northeast. Did not qualify
2008–09 5th, Northeast. Did not qualify
2009–10 5th, Northeast. Did not qualify
2010–11 4th, Northeast. Did not qualify

So to answer this thread's motive in searching for what went wrong with the HABS this year ?
They should have fired the GM....

I'm not sure how much leeway Mod 8 and 11 give you guys in this section. I know sports talk can get heated at times. I've certainly been there myself on hockey forums in the past. I will give you guys some slack, but let's keep things civil. Talk about eachother's teams all you want, but leave the personal stuff out.

As far as the Leafs and Habs, it's not like either team is much better than the other and have anything to brag about, so fans on both sides are in the same boat. This season and pretty much the last 20 years.

I firmly believe had they not fired Jacques Martin, that the habs would be in a playoffs position right now. In my opinion, firing Martin & replacing him with Cunneyworth was a huge mistake. To be fair, i've always believed that the order to fire Martin came from Geoff Molson, who listens to the fans a bit too much for a team president.

Also getting rid of Pierre Boivin in order to name himself president was a big mistake, in my opinion.....and the habs will never be a winning franchise again until a real president is in charge of the organization.

As far as the Leafs and Habs, it's not like either team is much better than the other and have anything to brag about, so fans on both sides are in the same boat. This season and pretty much the last 20 years.

As far as the last 20years ? mmm... 20 years is a long time and is always refered to because of the Habs last cups.

But let see with the 4 teams we are refering most of the times out here : Leafs, Habs, Bruins, Wings.

1st the Mighty Red Wings. This is the teams that was smart enough to get Scotty Bowman (who coached the Habs to 5 Stanley Cups, then the Pens then 3of the 4 Stanley Cups that the Wings won since this 20years span). This is what I call a 'real genius' unlike some Wilson and Burke whatever.

2nd we have the Bruins who didn't qualify 5 times since this 20 year span but did get the Cup last year.
After a 29 years drought.. but hey ! they're still good this year so I guess you can brag a bit about them.
If theydo win the cup in 2012 it will be 1 per 15 years... (much more impressive isn't it ?)

3rd We have the Habs who didn't qualify 7 times (including this year) and won that cup since (the last years you are refering to).

4th We have the Leafs who didn't qualify 9 times (10 with this year if they don't make it ) and didn't won any cup.
After a 45 years drought.

Recap :
Wings 4 cups always qualified
Bruins 1 cup 5 times didn't qualified
Habs 1 cup 7 times didn't qualify
Leafs 0 cup 10 times didn't qualify

So nice try Mod 12... but Bruins will have to do a lot better (like the Wings maybe ?) to impress any Habs fan and so are you !

BTW Congrats to our Wing's fan out here !

If there is place I would move to get better hockey year after year it is Detroit.
It isn't Boston or Mtrl (anymore) and it will never be TO unless I'd become a masochist !

Another night in the opponents barn and the same results for the habbies.... ZERO points in a 4-1 drubbing by Quebec's own Daniel Briere's Philadelphia Flyers. At least Toronto took one of the best teams in all of hockey and stanley cup contender, the NYR, to a shootout. Oh well habbies fans next time listen to what Doc and myself were saying was gonna happen to you 2 years ago when you thought boring bob gainey was doing what he promised several years earlier, deliver a cup to you within 5. Sign some more average free agents to 5-8 mill for 5 years each :lol: And in case you forgot, I will gladly remind you that the HAbs STILL Suck :thumb:

I'm passionate about my sports teams but at the end of the day, "Sports" are not life and death. Been in the tropics for 2 weeks and not much happening since then, but at least I have a golden tan now! But seriously, I hope since this last 2 weeks is a learning experience for the Leafs under a new coach that they lose every game and get a top 3 pick. habs are sure to get a top 3 so it should be a fun draft! Word is Columbus is willing to trade their #1 overall as well.

The only writer more of an idiot than Cox is Steve Simmons....This isnt a thread about the Leafs but since you brought them up, again, the Leafs, even tho not making the playoffs, learned what it takes by not making it, if you can understand that. Always take the good out of the bad, same for the young guys on the habs this season. The Leafs played consistent hockey for 4 out of six months and if they learnt from the last 2, then great, all is not lost and it will contribute to moving forward. habs still suck and i will laugh my butt off if they screw up not getting the second pick in the draft, which they will, just watch lol, (and hopefully they do so, so the Leafs get it!)
