You underestimated the real numbers big time. Alone in 2022, 500, 000 immigrants, 500, 000 international students, 500,000 temporary foreign workers, and who knows how many refugees. That is at least 1.5 million ppl piling in the big cities. It is not just housing, also groceries and food. Supply is the same but demand more then doubled. Is there any wonder why groceries are so expensive? Before I used to pay $31/kg for lamb meat at IGA, now they are selling it for $67/kg. But salaries remain the same. Higher interests rates means more money for banks and more taxes for the government. One really has to wonder is the BOC really independant? I do not believe in coincidences. But I got no proof.

Current interests rates on a fixed 5 year term. As per that article this is the highest interests seen since a long time. I know this is irrelevant to you because I am sure your mortgage is already paid off. But to many young Canadians this is a big deal. Currently Canadians have more debt then the entire value of Canada's economy with 3/4 of that debt tied to mortgages. Interest rates are the biggest contributor to inflation. How did it get there? Also one last thing, under Harper in the family reunification program the retired parents of recent immigrants were able to come on super visa. What that means is they can stay but would not be eligible for OAS. Trudeau changed that and granted them permanent residency now being able to get OAS. That is a very bad decision, now they will collect money for 30-40 years, biggest waste of money and they never worked in Canada. Why is Trudeau doing this? That is a burden on resources and means working people must pay more taxes. Does not make any sense.
