This week, a federal judge ruled that the Department of Justice CANNOT step in and act as the defendant in a defamation case by columnist E. Jean Carroll. Carroll has accused the president of sexually assaulting her, and the resulting defamation case stems from Trump's attacks on Carroll following the accusations.
The DOJ has been trying to intervene in the case on Trump's behalf, but that could all end with this ruling (and next week's election.)

One thing in particular is that you correctly pointed out that much of whatever success the GOP has is due to marketing, which of course is very important for a party virtually devoid of a platform. Interestingly, though, even their powerful marketing fails to work with : whites with a college degree, women, young people, Blacks, Hispanics and Latinos (to mention only the groups identified in the stats I referenced).

As you noted, the Democrats are not as good at marketing. Thus their success is based overwhelmingly on their actual platform. You're quite correct that improved marketing would help them a great deal...particularly with people lacking significant formal education.
