Sarah Sanders Red Hen Incident Discussed

Seems like Sanders was asked to leave the Red Hen restaurant at the behest of some gay employees who disagreed with Trump's policies. The owner was mindful of the fact that Lexington overwhelmingly voted against Trump, so the decision is probably good for her business anyway:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...and-would-do-it-again/?utm_term=.84952ccc7d6d

The business aspect of the decision aside, I am not a big fan of asking people to leave a restaurant for any political reason. Valid grounds to ask someone to leave a restaurant are they are unruly, drunk, or bothering other customers. Representing an unpopular political office holder should not be a valid reason to ask her to leave (mid meal, no less).

Dragging politics into our everyday lives 24/7 and into everything is not a good course of action. If one wants to be political, get off your ass, get involved in campaigns and even walk door-to-door in your community.

Bill Clinton: ‘Poison’s been poured down America’s throat,’ and it’s bubbling up

I think Clinton is still having flashbacks after 20 years!!! However, just in case Clinton forgot, he should substitute 2 words in his quote...the first one "Poison" and the second one "America".....for...

Clinton sure walked right in on that one!

Trump may not be re-elected in the next Presidential election but now he gets a chance to nominate a conservative justice to replace swinging Kennedy.
This is huge and will effect US society and minority rights for the next generation.

Couldsurf you are right. The power of numbers will not lie. The poor and middle lower class and minority of color and race largely outnumber the elite white conservative supremacy. And all will break loose. Just like the chaos you see in so many countries. When that will happen we will need to remember the stern warning of Obama to Trump:

"One of the things that Michelle figured out, in some ways faster than I did, was part of your ability to lead the country doesn't have to do with legislation, doesn't have to do with regulations, it has to do with shaping attitudes, shaping culture, increasing awareness"

Trump is an elite shit hole men there is no way on earth he understands the meaning of that sentence.

Look behind you.
[NOTE: I did not write this, but I wish I had. It’s a note from a conservative to a former friend who was a liberal. It’s a must-read and a must-share. D.D.]

DEAR EX-FRIEND,

Hey, what’s up. Long time no talk.
I think the last civil conversations we had occurred just days before November 8, 2016. You were supremely confident Hillary Clinton would win the presidential election; you voted for her with glee. As a lifelong Republican, I bit down hard and cast my vote for Donald Trump. Then the unimaginable happened. He won.
And you lost your freaking minds.

I knew you would take the loss hard—and personally—since all of you were super jacked-up to elect the first woman president. But I did not imagine you would become totally deranged, attacking anyone who voted for Trump or supported his presidency as a racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic Nazi-sympathizer.

The weirdness started on social media late on Election Night, as it became clear Hillary was going to lose. A few of you actually admitted that you were cradling your sleeping children, weeping, wondering what to tell your kindergartner the next morning about Trump’s victory. It continued over the next several days.

Some of you seriously expressed fear about modern-day concentration camps. Despite living a privileged lifestyle, you were suddenly a casualty of the white patriarchy. Your daughters were future victims; your sons were predators-in-waiting. You threatened to leave Facebook because you could no longer enjoy the family photos or vacation posts from people who, once friends, became Literal Hitlers to you on November 8 because they voted for Donald Trump.

I admit I was a little hurt at first. The attacks against us Trump voters were so personal and so vicious that I did not think it could be sustained. I thought maybe you would regain your sanity after some turkey and egg nog.
But you did not. You got worse. And I went from sad to angry to where I am today: Amused.

As the whole charade you have been suckered into over the last 18 months starts to fall apart—that Trump would not survive his presidency; he would be betrayed by his own staff, family, and/or political party; he would destroy the Republican Party; he would be declared mentally ill and removed from office; he would be handcuffed and dragged out of the White House by Robert Mueller for “colluding” with Russia—let me remind you what complete fools you have made of yourselves. Not to mention how you’ve been fooled by the media, the Democratic Party, and your new heroes on the NeverTrump Right.

On November 9, you awoke from a self-induced, eight-year-long political coma to find that White House press secretaries shade the truth and top presidential advisors run political cover for their boss. You were shocked to discover that presidents exaggerate, even lie, on occasion. You became interested for the first time about the travel accommodations, office expenses, and lobbyist pals of administration officials. You started counting how many rounds of golf the president played. You suddenly thought it was fine to mock the first lady now that she wasn’t Michelle Obama.

Once you removed your pussy hat after attending the Women’s March, you made fun of Kellyanne Conway’s hair, Sarah Sanders’ weight, Melania Trump’s shoes, Hope Hicks’ death stare; you helped fuel a rumor started by a bottom-feeding author that U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley slept with Donald Trump. You thought it was A-OK that Betsy DeVos was nearly physically assaulted and routinely heckled. You glorified a woman who has sex on camera for a paycheck.

You have learned all kinds of new things that those of us who didn’t willfully ignore politics for the past eight years already knew. For example, we already knew that illegal immigrants were being deported and families were being separated. We already knew about misconduct at the Environmental Protection Agency. We already knew that politicians gerrymander congressional districts for favorable election outcomes. We already knew that citizens from certain countries had restricted access here.

But American politics became a whole new thing for you.

Some of your behavior has been kinda cute. It was endearing to watch you become experts on the Logan Act, the Hatch Act, the Second Amendment, the 25th Amendment, and the Emoluments Clause. You developed a new crush on Mitt Romney after calling him a “sexist” for having “binders full of women.” You longed for a redux of the presidency of George W. Bush, a man you once wanted imprisoned for war crimes. Ditto for John McCain. You embraced people like Bill Kristol and David Frum without knowing anything about their histories of shotgunning the Iraq War.

Classified emails shared by Hillary Clinton? Who cares! Devin Nunes wanting to declassify crucial information of the public interest? Traitor!

But your newfound admiration and fealty to law enforcement really has been a fascinating transformation. Wasn’t it just last fall that I saw you loudly supporting professional athletes who were protesting police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem? Remember how you fanboyed a mediocre quarterback for wearing socks that depicted cops as pigs?
But now you sound like paid spokesmen for the Fraternal Order of Police. You insist that any legitimate criticism of the misconduct and possible criminality that occurred at the Justice Department and FBI is an “attack on law enforcement.” While you once opposed the Patriot Act because it might have allowed the federal government to spy on terrorists who were using the local library to learn how to make suitcase bombs, you now fully support the unchecked power of a secret court to look into the phone calls, text messages and emails of an American citizen because he volunteered for the Trump campaign for a few months.

Spying on terrorists, circa 2002: Bad. Spying on Carter Page, circa 2017: The highest form of patriotism.

And that white, male patriarchy that you were convinced would strip away basic rights and silence any opposition after Trump won? That fear has apparently been washed away as you hang on every word uttered by James Comey, John Brennan, and James Clapper. This triumvirate is exhibit “A” of the good old-boy network, and represents how the insularity, arrogance, and cover-your-tracks mentality of the white-male power structure still prevails. Yet, instead of rising up against it, you are buying their books, retweeting their Twitter rants and blasting anyone who dares to question their testicular authority. Your pussy hat must be very sad.

But your daily meltdowns about Trump-Russia election collusion have been the most entertaining to observe. After Robert Mueller was appointed as Special Counsel, you were absolutely convinced it would result in Trump’s arrest and/or impeachment. Some of you insisted that Trump wouldn’t last beyond 2017. You quickly swallowed any chum tossed at you by the Trump-hating media on CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times and the Washington Post about who was going down next, or who would flip on the president.

For the past year, I have watched you obsess over a rotating cast of characters: Paul Manafort, Donald Trump, Jr., Jared Kushner, Carter Page, Reince Priebus, Jeff Sessions, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, Sam Nunberg, and Hope Hicks are just a few of the people you thought would turn on Trump or hasten his political demise. But when those fantasies didn’t come true, you turned to Michael Avenatti and Stormy Daniels for hope and inspiration. It will always be your low point.

Well, I think it will be. Each time I believe you’ve hit bottom, you come up with a new baseline. Perhaps defending the unprecedented use of federal power to spy on political foes then lie about it will be the next nail in your credibility coffin.

The next several weeks will be tough for you. I think Americans will learn some very hard truths about what happened in the previous administration and how we purposely have been misled by powerful leaders and the news media. I wish I could see you as a victim here, but you are not. I know you are smart; you chose to support this insurgency with your eyes wide open.

Now, I shall sit back and enjoy your pain.

Your Ex-Friend,

Could you please explain and give reference to the chaos conservatives did in other countries? Do you mean our own POS opening our borders, Europe the conservative rule that opened their borders and decided to go green and are in extreme debt now, perhaps the conservatives in Venezuela who bankrupt the country, perhaps the conservative Greece government who threw a shit storm at the world. Yes, those conservative governments are ruining the world.

You are romanticizing radicalism (like our Liberal Arts colleges) and that clouds your analysis. Unfortunately, the Democrats have long given up on class struggle and doubled down on identity politics. Identity politics are not nearly as effective at holding opposition groups together. There's the not so small matter that many Asians and Hispanics do very well in our society. Anyone with a knowledge of history also knows that social welfare programs in the West bought peace, calm and relative complacency from the underclasses.

One of the biggest problem our society has now is trying to employ all those college grads from the underclass who naively thought radical thought studies could still be a ticket to success. I suppose they can become community activists, but I'm certain most of them aren't as smart and articulate as Barack Obama.

A bit harsh, but a valid criticism for Obama digging in for six years and not really trying to build coalitions with Moderate Republicans and pass centrist legislation. Of course, the right and left always believe their positions our popular, centrist positions.

Besides all the overly dramatic love and hatred Reagan, there is no denying he was good at persuading and channeling public opinion to bear on opponents and pass legislation. So much so Bill Clinton would talk like a Reaganite at times.

Since Trump`s photo op "summit" with the little tyrant......Kim has been busy expanding his nuclear arsenal and executing his senior officers. One for telling his troops that peace was at hand and the other for increasing the rations to his troops. And Trump is hoping for a peace prize.....what a sad joke.

Trump got played by the little fat guy from NK. Everyone could see this other than Trump or Trump News. Kim did the same thing to past leaders. Over and over. And now Trump is once again going to get played by the Russian chessmaster Vladimir Putin, who's been controlling Donald Trump for the past few years and got him nominated and elected.

Trump is telling people he's considering pulling the United States out of the World Trade Organization. This would be disastrous for the global economy. And it's only a matter of time before Trump's tariffs will begin to dramatically affect his own countrymen. Harley Davidson will be forced to close some plants and move some of them. Now we're hearing that it's General Motors who's considering the same thing. Many other car companies (especially foreign ones who build cars in America) will have no choice but to consider the same options. People seem unaware that out of the top 10 cars built and manufactured in the States 4 of them are from Japanese automakers. So Trump's wish that most cars being driven around the country be American cars makes no sense. By the way has Donald Trump EVER driven a car??

Not only have Trump's tax cuts (for millionaires and billionaires) dramatically increased the deficit but things will only continue getting worse.

Very tough economic times are coming for our American friends. It's only a matter of time and disaster could happen quicker than later. Beware, beware, beware!

American car made outside the USA
Ford Escape
Ford Fiesta
Ford Fusion
GM Spark
Chevy Impala
Dodge Challenger
Dodge Charger
Chrysler 300
Chevy Captiva
Dodge Journey
Lincoln MKZ
Fiat 500 (it's chrysler)

Foreign car made in the USA
Acura NSX
Honda Accord
Nissan Maxima
Volkswagen Passat
Infiniti QX60
Subaru Impreza
Hyundai Sonata
Mercedes-Benz C-Class
BMW X Series Family
Acura NSX
Honda Accord
Toyota Camry

The USA car industry has so much more too loose by tariff as this will raise the cost of all cars made here or abroad. It will only alienate the new biggest car buyer in Asia to make and buy locally even more then they do in the future.

Capitalism in it's essence is to let the market decide and not try to control it.

Harley Davidson is moving some of its manufacturing outside the US to avoid EU tariffs. Polaris is mulling the same move.

If all the people that protested the immigration policies this past weekend vote in the midterms (instead of just protesting), maybe we can stem the tide of the joke the US has become since we elected the Joker to the White House.

I wonder who's the more dangerous joker. Heath Ledger's Joker or Donald Trump as The Joker?

Seriously i don't know where Trump gets his advice from. Did he think other countries wouldn't retaliate with their own tariffs? Did he believe he could bully other countries into not retaliating? What's awful about all this is that it's not only the American people who will suffer because of Trump's trade wars. It's the rest of the world. People like us. People i know are currently scrambling to buy new cars since they expect the price of cars to drastically increase once the tariffs come into effect.

What's ironic is that for as long as i can remember Republicans were the party that was against tariffs. They were the free-trade party. They were the so-called 'family values' party. Now this is all gone and they've folded like a cheap suitcase under the power of Trump. And now Trump is threatening to dismantle NATO and threatening to leave the WTO.

I didn't give Vladimir Putin enough credit. Either Trump is incredibly stupid and very easily to get played or what Putin has on him must be massive. Or maybe it's all-of-the-above.

We've been doing the whole cut-off-our-nose-to-spite-our-face deal for a while. So the plebes being hurt by the very politicians they put in power isn't new. The book What's The Matter With Kansas lays it out pretty well. Regular people keep voting for Republicans who screw them at every turn at the expense of rich people and industry, but throw enough worthless red meat social issues to placate the inattentive and those dense enough to think God is real or that he cares lol (Democrats cater to the donor class too but at least they also put forth policies that help regular folk). See the Republican playbook on abortion or racism. It was Republican strategist Lee Atwater that invented the Southern Strategy after all. Trump just blew up that playbook by appealing to racists with non-coded words. Now some of these same people, like farmers and aluminum producers, are petitioning Trump not to affect their own bottom lines. That's basically Republican mindset in a nutshell: it's only truly a problem when it affects ME.

The truly scary thing is all those old-school Republicans who used to be against tariffs, much like all those family values Republicans is that they've entered irrelevance with the advent of Trumpism. Even when Trump is gone, he'll be here forever. Just look at the number of outspoken racists running for office, or conventional politicians running Trump-like campaigns. At the end of Batman Begins, I'm paraphrasing but Lt. Gordon laments that a crazy good guy (Batman) will only embolden more crazy bad guys-- a portent of the Joker and the Dark Knight sequel. In real life, Trump is the crazy bad guy that emboldens even more bad guys.

Trump inspires a lot of dramatic criticism. As far as North Korean negotiations, it seems like detractors went to sleep for 25 years, woke up and were shocked to see N. Korea had nuclear weapons/missiles and blamed the current President.

I blame extra-sensory news. The networks portray knowing much more than they really do. As long as the narrative appeals to their audience, the audience believes, repeats it and believes it more. I’m just not sure where all this information about North Korean negotiations is originating.

Global trade is not as mysterious or complicated as corporate elites, media and their economic lackies make it.

Numbers don’t lie. Tariff reciprocity is as straightforward as it can get. The enormous U.S. trade deficit overwhelms all these numbers of how many cars, this and that are exported. A big chunk of our trade deficit are auto parts for cars that are simply assembled in the U.S.

I’m disappointed in Harley-Davidson. The moves they made had been anticipated for a long time. Large companies don’t make these decisions that quickly.
