Folks,

I will be stuck in Montreal this Sunday and I hear its a dead town then. The shops are closed and so are the restaraunts. Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do, especially in the evening - clubs, bars? Help! lol!! I suppose I could always hang out at the hotel with a good book!

B4 u recommend it - yes, I could always pickup the phone and call Martin ... but I am not even sure anyone will be working that evening.

Are you sure you're talking about Montreal? restaurants for the most part are open until 11pm, though in some neighborhoods like St-Denis and elsewhere you can find some opened later.
All downtown stores and shops are open for business until 5pm on sunday.
There are bars and clubs open until 3am if you look hard enough as the college kids don't all go to classes on Monday and some places like to cater to this demographic...

Movie Theaters are open for a late show until 11pm.

Just walk around the usual suspects for late night entertainment (St-Denis st. ,Crescent St.) and you should be able to find something to do...
A good way to get some quick info is to ask a taxi driver, and they usually carry handbooks on all the entertainment places...
You could even venture out to a dozen strip bars in the downtown area if the mood strikes you...

I think you might need a better source of information re: this city...this isn't Ottawa!

Easter or not, most restaurants and bars will still be open. Many stripclubs are open on Christmas night so I doubt that they will close for Easter. Some businesses will be closed on Friday and others will close on Monday and some will close both days. Most entertainment venues will be open but a lot of dancers will be busy attending the Bal en Blanc rave this weekend so there may be less girls at the clubs.

Shijak, this isn't just any Sunday - it's Easter. Much of Montreal still closes for the holiday.

Ronnie, you're too cute!;) ...Yeah, give her a call!

I know it's Easter weekend. But that doesn't stop the restaurants and bars from being open that day. Perhaps they'll open a bit later on sunday morning as they do sometimes (probably noon), but downtown stores and mall boutiques should for the most part be open this weekend.

as for bars and clubs, I think only New Year's and Christmas Day have the absolute NO OPEN-GO AWAY policy...St-Jean Baptiste day is supposed to be the same also, but I hope they bust that bubble this year...

However there are still a lot of places to go to this sunday! a nice restaurant is always a fine idea...Try St-Laurent or St-Denis St.

There are young women attending church? Where?;)

Bars are always open on St-Jean Baptiste day. Many are also open on Christmas and New Year's day as are many restaurants. Not everyone has family to spend the holidays with and end up spending some time with others in a bar instead of being alone.
