Glad I live in the suburbs and only visit Montreal when I see SP.
Would never live again downtown with all the nonsense and taxes that Plante has created.
Her and Trudeau are the worst things to have hit Montreal, they both need to go. Wouldn’t mind seeing the arrogant dictator Legault thrown out either.
Montreal hasn’t had a decent mayor in decades, the previous egotistical asshole leprechaun wasn’t much better.

Same here! Good riddance. But I'm sure you love doing that quarterly commute

You know we live on an island? And Montreal is 400 years old with neighborhood built over a 100 years ago

You know what we call guys like you?
"Carbrained" you demonstrate it perfectly. Seeing life thru your windshield.

I could destroy every single argument that you present with basic common sense.

Ok..just for the fun of it

Ste Catherine Street is packed with pedestrians.
Narrowing the sidewalk you say!? I say think about pedestrians, the handicap or just kids in strollers.

Who is is going to benefit? Your car?

New streets? What are you talking about? People move to Montreal to live in existing neighborhoods. Not to live in Blainville. If you want a new street with no sidewalk go to st Lambert or Outremont or Ste Thérèse.

By the way, you can't destroy a neighborhood and rebuild it with bigger roads.. this means less people will be able to live there.

Why 2 direction streets? So it saves you that extra 8 seconds? To do what? If you had kids or lived on that street..you would complain about the noise.

Like I said.. carbrained.
You make absolutely no sense. So you ride your bicycle to work? Do your groceries on your bicycle? Even when it is -20°C?? You need to start to think then pushing far-left nonsense. I could destroy every argument you used also. Not going to waste my time.

Have you been to Toronto? Montreal needs to take their example of how streets should be set up. Like I said, only in Montreal will you see this nonsense. Everywhere else it it like the way I suggested.

That commute is bi weekly and no it sucks.
Some days it takes 90 minutes to get home from a commute that should be around 20min.
Montreal is the city of cones. Everywhere you go there are road closures and cones, the funny thing is you hardly see any workers doing anything lol, guess they are needed to keep moving the cones.

That is what has been happening since Plante came. Many are leaving downtown. Many store chains began closing their locations in Montreal to leave the ones in the suburbs open. Many moved to the suburbs. See how some neighbourhoods in Montreal turned into ghost towns or full of homeless. It will get worse. I figured, it is better to sit in my car in traffic then to wait 30 mins for a bus then be in a crowded bus always having to stand. Btw doing groceries by public transit is hard. I did it 25 years ago. Gets tiring to big heave bags. Great stores like Costco are accesible by car only, you will never see one in downtown with those useless bike paths.

This must be third time they are tearing down Ste-Catherine St.. I suspect there is a lot of corruption. Politicians stuffing money in their pockets for needless construction projects. The tunnel Ville-Marie has been shut down almost every night for construction since 15 years. Seems like never ending construction.

Maybe you should take a look at all the comments about pedestrians streets and bike lanes. Cities all over north america are seeing Montréal as avant garde..but you are complaining because you can't park your car downtown? Take the metro

Far left? For bike lanes? To give people options is "left" hats off to you.. I was expecting the word "woke".

I have a bike, a car and a pair of shoes

Well, you know you can order your food on line right?

And no I don't cycle when it's minus 20. Do you play hockey when it's minus 20? Or ski?

Are you talking about Toronto the city where everyone that ran against bike paths lost.. do you think that is a sign?

Dude, make up your mind. The rebuild 200 years old water systems and you complain..they don't and you complain.

Do you know that 70% of the infrastructure work in Montreal is not city works? It's hydro, gas etc..

The tunnel is provincial.. call Quebec city

Who? Far-left news outlets? I do not count that. Most ppl are against it. Giving options at the expense of others is not giving options. Plante is forcing cars off the streets. Only an idiot would do that when the population is rapidly increasing.

The far-left's moto is, do as I say, not as I do. Plante is forcing cars off the streets but the city's fleet of vehicles expanded. The city has its down 2313 cars, 1295 minivans and pickup trucks adding to the traffic. Perhaps Plante can ride her bicycle? And the snowcrews plow snow on a bicycle. Sounds silly right? Well what Plante is doing is idiotic. No one is praising what she is doing, only far-left media praises it.

Funny you mention order online, do you think Uber drivers will go on bike? Lol Where I work, Plante removed one side of parking to add a bike lane. When I order food it is difficult for the drivers to deliver food to my work because often there is no place to park.

We need a new mayor asap.

We need to lower the taxes and send the tax bill directly to the tenant.

We need bikes paths on certain streets but not on all streets.

We need to stop the war to the people using their cars.

We need to stop the madness of Plante and her gang. It’s far worst than Jean Doree.

so for you its okay for the guy that does not have a car but pays for car infrastructure but for you its not okay for paying for cyclists that need a bike path? crazy. BTW,

Plante is not forcing none off the road (we have drivers for that). You already have 70% of all infrastructure. When houses have 2-3-4 cars per addresses-eventually you run out of space-

When you have bigger cars to compensate for small dicks-you run out of space.

I also check the charter of rights and liberties- and nowhere it says ''the city will provide you with subsidized parking''

Public transportation is not an option would take 2 hrs to reach my ATF and especially in the winter I am not walking 10-20 minutes or waiting outside in freezing temperatures.
Montreal downtown is not a place to live anymore at least not for me. I can get everything I need within walking distance from my place without having to use my car., and if I need to there are no parking or traffic issues at all. Only need to use it in the winter as I hate the cold.
They can have downtown Montreal it totally sucks, the traffic the parking the taxes.

Check this,
No parking no customers lol. Tough to carry groceries on a bike.
Nothing against bikes we have fantastic bike paths and trails in the burbs and we don’t have any of the traffic or parking issues nor the high taxes.

You said 90 mins for a commute that should take 20 mins. What speed are you driving at? 150KM/h?

Dude, I'm curious---you have no issues moaning about everything and everyone but you cant post a single review? you know why this site is for right?

I don’t think anyone care about your feelings and opinions.

You’re a communist and you proved it.

Hope you’re paying your Quebec solidaire membership with your own hard earned money and not via our taxes (public sector employee, etc).

I am on edge and nervous because I am a shift worker and I work near the Olympic stadium, were almost all the crimes are committed recently, and since covid. I have been at this company for the last 15 years and remember during my lunch break we used to walk to Tim Horton that is not far, the worse that happen to us was beggars. But they were none violent.

A co worker father was a policemen and he said that yes this mass immigration, most people are poor and live in ghetto, this is why the crime rate goes up, when a man stop to gas is car at a station and he gets attack by 5 teenagers there is clearly an issue. Or a 14y old Arab kid agrees to go take down a hell angel bunker and gets shot and set on fire in a car. Once again the police failed we need the help of the parents. When most parents think there kids are angels until something happens like the 2 idiots that shot people random and died during the police chase. Father my son was an angel then he admitted that is son was around bad people.

I go to the econo cardio that is near the job usually around 1 or 2 am, its still stressful but its during my break. All I see Plante do is we approve LGTBQ, her clown face smile and running marathons, Montreal is a safe city, its like she is blind to all that is happening and as no clue how to deal with it. People voted for her, and all she does with theses bike lanes, people are mad angry because it causes so much trouble and hassles but she continues. The Montreal terrace mess once again she went in late and did absolutely nothing. She is destroying Montreal same as Trudeau destroyed Canada.

Now I never said Poilievre is better I said I hope he is going to do some good. I have plenty of people at my job who are close to 65y old and cannot retire due to the cost of life which is not normal, after you have worked 35-40 years you have the right to retire and enjoy the rest of your life.

Canada now is Paradis for criminal, that catch and release thing from Trudeau is not working, those jail sentence are stupid, they are just starting to wake up well maybe we should give longer sentences. From recent years you can kill someone and be out of jail in 4 years.
