The way it is done is all wrong. I even explained it, turning a street into a one lane one direction street is ludicrous. It makes no sense. Only in Montreal will you see this. See look at Ste-Catherine St, Plante tripled the width of the sidewalk and made it one lane. It is stupid. There are better ways to go about it. The reality is the city did very poor infrastructure planning, probably to save money. As population grew, instead of creating new streets, they kept on densifying existing areas but maintaining the same streets. Plante is actively forcing cars out by what she is doing. It is intentional and based on a misguided far-left ideology. Just saying, there are better ways to go about it. The sidewalks should be narrowed by half, a bike lane can be added. Make all streets two direction even one lane each direction makes sense. Large main streets, no parallel parking. Make it two direction with added lanes. As for bike paths, new streets have to be created to accomodate bike paths. What the city is doing is short sighted.
You know we live on an island? And Montreal is 400 years old with neighborhood built over a 100 years ago
You know what we call guys like you?
"Carbrained" you demonstrate it perfectly. Seeing life thru your windshield.
I could destroy every single argument that you present with basic common sense.
Ok..just for the fun of it
Ste Catherine Street is packed with pedestrians.
Narrowing the sidewalk you say!? I say think about pedestrians, the handicap or just kids in strollers.
Who is is going to benefit? Your car?
New streets? What are you talking about? People move to Montreal to live in existing neighborhoods. Not to live in Blainville. If you want a new street with no sidewalk go to st Lambert or Outremont or Ste Thérèse.
By the way, you can't destroy a neighborhood and rebuild it with bigger roads.. this means less people will be able to live there.
Why 2 direction streets? So it saves you that extra 8 seconds? To do what? If you had kids or lived on that street..you would complain about the noise.
Like I said.. carbrained.
