The USA is well known for banning books in public schools, most recently the Harry Potter series is banned in many school districts in the southern USA.

I remember reading "Catcher in the Rye" in high school and my teacher told us about how when he was a student in the states the principle had come into his class room with a box to confiscate all copies of that book. The result made the book all that more in demand and more students probably read the book (illegal copies of course) due to the banning than would have paid it any mind had it been simply another part of the curriculum!

Tom Sawyer is another famous book that was banned in the USA. I could continue but I think I made my point.

The state of FLA is very well know for its Internet censorship... if you had ever done live Internet sex you would know that.

America's ideals are indeed praise worthy but they themselves do not live up to their own ideals.

Are you going to address my other questions?

Ronnie,
Naughtylady
Keeping books from children is a lot different than a entire country burning books so not even adults can read them.

What about free speech? If we have a guarantee to freedom of expression, what about hate mongering?

Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.

In Beautydigger's world, a free country is one in which the people as a whole bear no responsibility for the well being of others. Corporations are free to pollute at will. Your health, education, and well-being are your responsibility alone.
Such wisdom from a person who spends all his time in a sports fantacy world or the fantacy world of hobbyland. Outside of your baseball thread your intelligence really shows.

Yes, my intelligence shows. Thanks. BTW, so does yours. Fantacy? Micheal? Stinken? Are these words?

BTW, may I suggest that you expand your incoming "knowledge" beyond the world of tabloid journalism.

Next you will find a misspelled word and make a big deal of that.
Thanks for proving my point again. Even with no misspelled words your still brain dead.
Perfect example of liberal debate tacktics.

Oh, and just for the record, stinken was spelled like that on purpose for those that are familiar with the movies.

So who should I believe the woman crying on television saying she couldn’t get neonatal care because there WERE not enough beds or you? And what agenda would she have for doing so?

This is a funny one...Did this woman go to more than ONE hospital? Once I needed semi-urgent hospital care, but the line-up was of a few hours. I got in my car, went to another and got help within the hour. Montreal, to name ONE city, has about a dozen hospitals within easy reach. No , I don't believe the woman had an agenda, yet did the newsreporter offer a fair and balanced view? Did he actually go to neighboring care facilities and confirm that in fact no beds were available within a 50 mile radius? or was he satisfied he had one more overly-sensational sound bite to fill his quota?

Sadly, reporting isn't what it used to be, neither is fact-checking: over the years I've read a few newspaper articles related to my field of work and often could spot many factual errors that would easily have been corrected had the journalist taken the time to make 2 phonecalls to corroborate.

The interview was on CNN and I was quite shocked after all the Michael Moore hype. My impression of CNN is that they took the side of Michael Moore. I do not live in Canada, and if you Canadians say it is not so, then it is not so, and maybe this women has some sort of mental disorder.

WHICH books, and when did this happen?

And what are these banned sites? You come out with these accusations, yet with no supporting evidence. How do you expect any of us to side by you when you come off as little more than Chicken Little?

So it was on CNN, but you still didn't answer my question, did they check all the hospitals? Sure it's possible that ONE hospital, with its limited space had them all filled by women who all gave birth at the same time...But in no way does it mean all that city's hospitals were packed...

I will supply that information only if you call yourself chicken shit. It is not surprising that in a country of censorship you are not as informed as I am.

I am so interested in that info, if it exists, that I am willing to call myself chicken shit. I have my doubts about this info. Precisely because we don't have censorship I could create a blog and write stuff like you are reporting
It does exist and I can supply it. First, you did not call me chicken little, so your request does not mean much to me. Second, when I do supply the info, which is very controversial as is the author, instead of you non-believers saying I proved my point, you will discredit the source and the author and label me a bigot.

Misspelling, unless you're dyslexic, is either a sign of lack of education, laziness, lack of intelligence, or all of the above. In the case of your use above of the word "your" when "you're" would have been correct, I'd surmise that "all of the above" would apply. BTW, tactics is also misspelled.

Beautydigger is still withholding his source, no doubt because said source is likely a right-wing tabloid "journalist" employed by Fox or similar.

When you can’t counter with a logical defense, you revert to checking for typo’s. It is sad that you don’t realize that intelligent people see right through that and are thinking what a joke you are. If you are able to think about it, those who make sure every word is spelled correctly (most of the time using a spell checker) are really insecure about their intelligence.

Do you mean "this woman" or "these women?":D Or do you prefer the less literate form "this women?"

He didn't say "which" books, but "witch" books. Perhaps in his own moronic little universe the Canadian government is run by witches who burn books late in the night, igniting them with the straw from their brooms.

That would be "typos," my unintelligent friend. "Typo's" is the possessive. I keep harping on this because one hallmark of intelligence is the ability to use your native tongue correctly. You clearly can't either use your native tongue correctly or make a cogent argument. And if you can't make a cogent argument or provide reliable sources for the gibberish you consistently spout, you aren't worth taking seriously.

This is too easy. This guy has no clue. Keep checking my spelling instead of producing substance.

To be fair, I do know of at least ONE book that was withheld from entering Canada in recent times: It was a comic book, or graphic novel if you prefer, written by a very well-known and respected author named Alan Moore (creator or recent film adaptations of his comics THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN and the forthcoming WATCHMEN). I think its name was LOST GIRLS but from what I heard this book had a high sexual content. Over the last decade there have been other instances of such porn comics being denied entry into this country.

Is this what you mean, Digdug? quite a far cry from CATCHER IN THE RYE...
