This is a funny one...Did this woman go to more than ONE hospital? Once I needed semi-urgent hospital care, but the line-up was of a few hours. I got in my car, went to another and got help within the hour. Montreal, to name ONE city, has about a dozen hospitals within easy reach. No , I don't believe the woman had an agenda, yet did the newsreporter offer a fair and balanced view? Did he actually go to neighboring care facilities and confirm that in fact no beds were available within a 50 mile radius? or was he satisfied he had one more overly-sensational sound bite to fill his quota?
Sadly, reporting isn't what it used to be, neither is fact-checking: over the years I've read a few newspaper articles related to my field of work and often could spot many factual errors that would easily have been corrected had the journalist taken the time to make 2 phonecalls to corroborate.
