Sure it did rumpie, at least thats what they said on mlb tv, then again i forgot you always gotta be right, even tho more ofton than not your completely wrong lol.... I say the red sox throw 100million at the man unless ole johnny henry is too cheap or too "scared" after the crawford mess among others. What do you think "your" team will do this offseason to even have a shot to climb out of the basement next season.... (good luck with that) :D

We could just take your quotes (failed predictions) and repost them for ya every year and save you alot of time  Word of advice rumpie, leave the predictions to Mr.T, he had a couple "iffy" weeks but still spot on compared to your "insight" of the Yankees demise and the red sox rise to the top the last several years. This way we can all be blessed with your presence all season long instead of just april and one week in may until the red sox season is "ovah" :thumb:

When you consider the age of the Yankee roster, the holes in the lineup, the loading up done by the Jays, the re-loading the Sox are about to do, this could be the year the Yankees go from first to last; 1965 anyone? And...with the Yankees out of the picture, there could be some bargains to be had.

Let me try and educate you, difficult as that may be. When a General Manager sits down with a reporter and has an "on the record" interview, it is not a leak. A "leak" is something that comes from an unattributed source.

I really have no idea, but I do think that a lineup, certainly within budget, of Ellsbury, Pedroia, Hamilton, Ortiz, Napoli, Middlebrooks, Ross, Saltalamacchia, Shortstop and a rotation of Lester, Buchholz, Dubront, A. Sanchez, and Lackey could compete with any team in baseball.

As for the aging Yankees, they certainly have as many holes to plug right now as do the Sox. No DH, no shortstop, no closer, 2 holes in the rotation, no right fielder, aging 3b, aging 1b, aging CF, aging ace starter. Hoo boy.

Any time you want to discuss this at L'Avenue, lemme know. I live just 'round the corner. Bring the 7 ounce gloves.

Blue Jays add Melky Cabrera

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free-agent outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two-year, $16 million contract, according to an ESPN report Friday.

Cabrera was having a monster year for the San Francisco Giants in 2012 until he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in August and was suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball. At the time, he was hitting .313 with 11 homers and 60 RBI and had 13 stolen bases.

The World Series-champion Giants could have added Cabrera to their postseason roster but chose to leave him off.

Cabrera, a switch hitter, came to the Giants from Kansas City, where he hit .305 with 18 homers and 87 RBI in 2011.

His addition could add to a Blue Jays lineup bolstered through offseason acquisitions that include shortstop Jose Reyes.

I'm both surprised at this signing. Surprised that the team who usually wants to avoid controversy might attract its share of controversy by signing Cabrera, but on the other hand not entirely surprised considering it was well-known they were considering adding a quality left-fielder to the fold. Now i'm wondering if either Sanchez or Grienke might not also wind up in Toronto. Personally, i'm very satisfied with the current 5-man rotation with J.A. Happ as the 5th starter, but who knows what A.A. has up his sleeve?

I'm starting to wonder if Josh Johnson might not be shipped out in order to bring back another quality arm....who knows?

Two pieces from the Lohud blog:

Speaking at Yankee Stadium today, manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that Derek Jeter’s rehab from a broken ankle might take too long for Jeter to be ready for Opening Day.

“He’s still basically non-weight-bearing, I believe,” Girardi said. “So, I really believe it might be a little push (for Jeter to be ready for the season opener). But I believe he’ll find a way to get ready for the season.”

It’s still premature to know anything one way or another. Jeter’s not all that far removed from surgery, and it’s still too early to know how quickly or how well his rehab will go.

“You have to get the full strength, and maybe you’re not able to start doing the things you normally would in January,” Girardi said. “So I think there’s a little bit of a question, but I think he’ll find a way, because he always has. That’s who he is.”

Considering Jeter's age, the severity of the injury, and Jeter's career long lack of lateral range, the Yankees might just have to find a new shortstop for next season. Jayson Nix?

Cone: “Yankees are “not in the game” for free agents

Earlier today, David Cone and Joe Girardi helped assemble USO packages at Yankee Stadium, and I’m guessing Cone spoke for many of you when he said this:

“Free agents do not need to apply (with the Yankees), as far as right now. … It’s shaking up the free-agent market, that’s for sure — not just this year, but a couple of years; probably since ’09 or ’08. A lot of agents are out there waiting for the Yankees to get back in the game, and they’re not in the game. It may take a couple of more years. I think most people realize this is probably a one-year thing with the Yankees so they can reset the tax rate. If they get under one year, then maybe the Yankees will be back in play again.

When you consider the age of the Yankee roster, the holes in the lineup, the loading up done by the Jays, the re-loading the Sox are about to do, this could be the year the Yankees go from first to last; 1965 anyone? And...with the Yankees out of the picture, there could be some bargains to be had.

Tim Lincecum.

Although I will have to admit that he's no David Ross.

First, you have to understand what your talking about, so "your" already done before you even got started.

As far as L'Avenue, sure.... you buying?

Congrats, ONCE AGAIN to the Toronto Blue Jays! The "Melkman" has a new home! Man, i gotta give props to the Jays, gonna be a fun summer in the "Skydome"

Imagine if they surprise everyone and land Kuroda... If the Yanks dont win the world series, I'd be more than happy to see the Jays win it. bOston, lol, good luck getting 69 wins again this coming season. Karma rules!

Let me try and educate you.

From MLBTraderumors.com:

"Hiroki Kuroda has told friends that his preference is to pitch in southern California to be near his daughters' grade school, reports Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles. Saxon speculates this could make the Dodgers and Angels the favorites for Kuroda's services, with the Dodgers having the "presumptive edge" with Kuroda due to their past history."

This is a severe blow to the aging, pitching depleted Yankees, who have been out-front about their plans to stick to one year contracts next year. Kuroda's 6 WAR will have to be replaced by a minor leaguer. Kuroda was the Yankees second most valuable player last year.

Not bloody likely.

Considering who you voted for, you're either a billionaire or a moron. Since I'm not allowed to call you a moron on merb, you must be a billionaire. You buying? Send your limo to pick me up.

The same Tim Lincecum who is under contract to the SF Giants?

Not after next year, he will be a free agent meaning that he will be a Yankee(very good chance), that was my point, sorry if it went over your head like a 7/47, I will be more clear next time in my posts.

EDIT: The next person who decides to insult an other member will be banned from all sports threads until the new year.

Jays close to naming new manager

The Toronto Blue Jays are close to announcing their next manager less than a month after John Farrell left for the same position as part of a trade with the Boston Red Sox, sources have told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Two of the final names being discussed were Jim Tracy and Jim Riggleman, the sources said.

Tracy resigned from the Colorado Rockies last month after the team set a franchise record for losses with a 64-98 record.

Riggleman last managed in the big leagues for the Washington Nationals in June 2011, when he abruptly quit after general manager Mike Rizzo declined to discuss a contract extension. He has since been managing for a Cincinnati Reds Double-A club in Pensacola, Fla.

This is the first time i've heard Riggleman's name. I must admit that i'm surprised to hear that those two former managers are the final two. I thought it would be between Manny Acta & Sandy Alomar Jr. I think hearing somewhere that Jim Tracy is fluent in spanish, so maybe he'll get the nod considering the considerable number of spanish-speaking players on the team.

Yup, the next Dontrelle Willis. The Yankees are determined to cut payroll under $190 M for the 2014 season. They won't be signing any free agents to more than 1 year deals this year. They won't be signing any free agents next year. Sorry, Joe.

Oh, right, I forgot. I'm the guy who had Dontrelle Willis in pinstripes. I'm the guy who had Cliff Lee in pinstripes...twice. And every other free agent who has hit the market since the name Joe.T first appeared on merb in 2003.
