Look who's talking!!!!

What do you think of the Daniel Briere signing? What about Rene Bourque & Brian Gionta's contract?? David Desharnais? What about paying Brandon Prust that kind of money for an oft-injured 4th liner??

What about likely handing over $72-80 million to P.K. Subban if the the habs want to keep him??? They'll probably have to overpay Markov also if they want to keep him!

What a joke!!!!!

Daniel Briere and Rene Bourque have ONE more year left to their contracts and not SEVEN.

Brian Gionta's contract ends this year and not SEVEN.

David Desharnais has three years left and not SEVEN

As far as P.K. Subban and Andre Markov are concerned, I don't have a crystal ball nor do I hear voices as you do, so it is irrelevant.

Stick to the FACTS, my dear boy.

Fantastic experience! What a crowd and as Doc said, other than the boring/sloppy first period, it was a heck of a game. Mvp? Simple, Jonathan "Big Game" Bernier stole the show. Congrats to JVR and Kessel on being named to the Olympic team for the USA.

It was a great game!!! It definitely was the best "Winter Classic" game that i've seen so far!! Boring first period, but the game picked up after this and turned out to be very exciting, even though the snowfall was a factor. But it was fair for both teams. I don't get ending play at exactly the halfway point of a period even while play is going on, but both teams were aware of the rules.

Go Leafs Go!! :thumb:

I think you got only the second word of Bernier's nickname correct, but he certainly was the MVP of the Leafs, who were hugely outshot (43-26) but managed to win the game in a shootout. Although the Wings clearly outplayed the Leafs, Bernier outplayed Jimmy Howard, both in regulation time and in the shootout.

Excellent, and Very Obvious Choices

Two all-time sporting greats, Steve Yzerman and Nicklas Lidstrom, will be inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in May 2014. This is an excellent decision...as well as one of the easiest and most obvious decisions of all time.

It's unfortunate that Bernier's resume isn't longer, since he kind of reminds me of Carey Price and he wouldn't look out of place on Team Canada. I'd rather have him on that team than Roberto Luongo, who wasn't even good enough to be #1 in Vancouver when Corey Schneider was there. And Schneider wasn't even good enough for Team USA!

Other candidates to join Carey Price on Team Canada: Mike Smith and Corey Crawford.

I like Smith since i like big goalies. But i don't enough of Smith to say for sure that he belongs on the Olympic team. I haven't seen Phoenix play much.

As for Crawford, i suspect that he's a good enough goalie, but he's probably lucky to play with Chicago. I have a feelng that any goalie would look good playing for the Blackhawks right now.

So unless Yzerman has the guts to pick Bernier over Luongo, my guess is that the three goalies named to the squad will be Price, Smith and Luongo.

Doc,

Jonathan "Big Game" Bernier would be a great addition for team Canada if nothing more than to get him some experience for the next Olympic Games, in 2018. His pedigree is such that barring injuries, he should be one of the top goalies for years to come, just ask Pierre Lebrun who loves the guy and said he was gonna be a star since he was in jr.

Good point. But there's a likely chance that these are the last Olympic games where the NHL will send players. Bettman and the owners hate putting a two-week stop to the season & also the risk of injuries to star players. I'd be surprised if the NHL sends players to the next Olympics, and many pundits also stated this opinion.

One huge thing in Bernier's favor is that he is VERY accustomed to receiving 40-50 shots a game, so he gets a lot of practice!

So I guess Claude Giroux is not good enough for Team Canada? I would have found a place one the team for a feisty guy like that.

Who will start in goal, Luongo or Price?
