Agreed, terrible, terrible call by the official, hockey has it's share of terrible calls and that was one of the worst ones that I have seen, it lead to the tying goal by the Kings, fix?, perhaps.

So i suppose the Rangers likely won't have the cap space needed to make P.K. Subban an offer.
But it woudn't surprise me if the Flyers do make Subban a big offer if they can find someone to take over Vincent Lecavalier's contract. I've heard rumours that he finally may be heading to the habs to finish out his career. It could happen if they don't re-sign Brian Gionta.

Markov extends for 3 years at $17.25M!
Is $5.75M/year too much to pay for a 35 year old injury prone D-man? Funny thing is the only time he's played healthy an entire season is in his contract year!! Well played Markov, well played.

Could be insurance in case the Habs lose Subban. I think Markov is a little long in the tooth though, and the NHL seems increasingly like a young man's game.
Not really. As a comparative; Gonchar (5 years older) got a 2 year $10M deal last season with Dallas. I suspect the deal is front loaded , so the contract will be easier to move (if needed) to a budget team looking to meet the cap floor. I hope he retires a Hab, though. With a weak UFA crop, some team would have given him more. Good signing MB!
here's the deal, Markov makes his partners better, Komisarek got a big contract out of the Leaf's because Markov made him look way better than he obviously was. This is a good plan for Habs, with budding young defense coming up and a old vet to teach them the ropes. Markov has been underrated for years, check Habs record with him out of line up.
17th in scoring amongst defencemen. Phaneuf was 45th. Markov is a career Hab, he is a leader, and when his contract is done, Subban will be a veteran leading Beaulieu, Tinordi, Pateryn, and Emelin. Another wise move by MB. Go Habs Go!
I'll take Markov at $5.75m over Phaneuf at $7m any day of the week and twice on Sundays!!!

He may be 35 but he is a solid dman, plays 25 mins. a game and is the first defensive unit on the power play.
His last contract in 2011, he missed 65 games and the playoffs, and yet, Montreal sighed him to 3 year contract.
In 2014, he had 43 points in 81 games.
Here is a comparison, Dion Phaneuf had 31 points in 80 games at the young age of 29.
Suppan Will be a Montreal Canadien. Young man's game? Tell that to Jaromir Jagr. In 82 games, he had 67 points at the YOUNG age, are you ready........42
Markov surely is not worth 6 mil per at 35 and declining. He was exposed over and over last season for his defense. He is really just a powerplay guy at this point of his career and a very expensive one. Injury wise, he will be lucky to play 60-70% of the 246 he has on that contract. And since he is 35 at the sigining of this contract, that could hurt the team if he does in fact get injured and cannot play it out. The silver lining is it is "only" 3 yr deal.
What position does "Suppan" play? Is he new? Btw Jagr is a physical specimen and what he is doing at his age is rare, very rare. Markov is no Jagr. I would love to see what Markov has left at 42. When Jagr was markovs age he only put up 96 points with the Rangers.
