I will say this tho, no more crying from hose fans about how they are nothing like the big bad Yankees, you are exactly like the Yankees....
Yup, they would be exactly like the Yankees if they'd spent another $57 PER YEAR and won two fewer championships. (I get so tired of confusing you with facts.)

From ESPN:

Since John W. Henry and his partners, Tom Werner and Lucchino, bought the Sox just before the 2002 season, the Yankees have had a bigger payroll, and usually it hasn't been close. That continues to hold true this season. The Sox payroll stands at an estimated $180 million to $211 million for the Yankees (payroll estimates courtesy of Cot's Baseball Contracts), with both teams figuring to be over $200 million for luxury tax purposes. Counting this season, the Yankees have spent close to $800 million more on their players than the Sox during Henry's reign.

The Yankees have five players who will be paid $20 million or more this season. The Sox have none.

The Jays had some good news following Michael Saunders' knee surgery yesterday. Instead of missing half the season, he'll only miss the first 2 weeks of the season since the surgeon chose to remove his meniscus instead of trying to repair it.

In other Jays news, Jonathan Papelbon said he'd now welcome a trade to the Jays. The Jays were not on his trade list, but now that K-Rod signed with Milwaukee, Papelbon is running out of teams that need a closer.

The Jays, however, will likely decline at trading for him due to his big contract for the next two seasons. So Pappy is likely stuck in Philly for the time being.

Matt Harvey looked great for the Mets earlier today and hit the 99 mph mark on the radar gun several times. I'm not a Mets fan, but i'm hoping for the best for him.

I stand corrected. Where did i get that name anyway?

How do the Mets expect Syndegaard to perform this season? He was once one of the Jays' top pitching prospects.

Excited to see these 2 young guns perform in Queens this season. Now those are 2 guys who should be "in the know" for years to come

I heard today that Yu Darvish has a sprained ligament in his right elbow and will likely have to miss the entire season due to Tommy John surgery.

I think he will start the season in AAA

He's the future.. No need to hurry him

Best Regards

Bryan Harvey was the closer for the Angels about 25 years ago.

Same injury that Masahiro Tanaka is trying to pitch through. Good luck with that.

I remember Bryan Harvey now. Thanks. As for Darvish, i heard yesterday that he has more than one torn ligament in his right elbow, on top of inflammation. He'll visit a specialist on tuesday and i guess that's where they'll decide if he should try to pitch through it (which i find ridiculous), rest it and see if it helps, or undergo surgery a.s.a.p in order to have him ready as soon as possible sometimes next season.

I wasn't aware that Tanaka's elbow problems were as severe. I'm surprised that they didn't elect for surgery as soon as possible last year once the season ended. I can't see him remaining healthy for more than a few months if this is indeed the case. I just hope that having him 'pitch through it' won't compromise his promising MLB career.

Pitching arms are tricky. Just yesterday, the Jays announced that current closer Brett Cecil will be sidelined for a week with left shoulder inflammation. He altered his training regimen this season and this may have been a mistake.

Tanaka has a "small tear" in his UCL. He will need TJ. Whether he can put it off one year, two, or three remains to be seen, but he will need it.

Ouch. Terribly sorry to hear about Stroman, Doc. He's a talented young man and an awful loss for the Jays.

Yeah, it's a devastating loss for the Jays. Whatever chances they had of winning the East just went away. Now it looks like Daniel Norris will likely be his replacement in the rotation.

I never knew that he had such a high heater.
You should read more, Joe. It's quite well known that Eovaldi has impressive speed on his fastball. It's also quite well known that his fastball is straight as a board, which is why he led the National League in hits allowed last year.

Joe, since we know how much you rely on ST stats, here's how the "Bombers" lol regulars are hitting this Spring:
Headley .364
Rodriguez .300
Ellsbury .222
Teixeira .174
Beltran .158
Gregorius .158
Drew .143
McCann .143
Gardner .115

I'll be honest.....I see the Jays & Red Sox battling it out for first place in the East. I see Tampa in last place, with the Yankees and the Orioles battling it out for 3rd. The Yankees are not a good team, period. But maybe Joe Girardi will pull a rabbit out of a hat once again & squeeze every ounce of this team to make them contenders until August. But for this to happen, Tanaka & Pineda will have to remain healthy. It wouldn't surprise me to see Tanaka go on the DL prior to the all-star break & then have to undergo TJ just like Yu Darvish.
