I’m guessing we’ll likely see giant Tage Thompson in the lineup tomorow & Pesce likely will be kept out. As for Canada everyone seems to be a go except for Shea Theodore, of course.
I’m revising my post. I now doubt that Tage Thompson will play. For him to play there has to be less than 12 forwards in the lineup. There would have to be two forwards who are either injured or too ill to play. Matthews may not be available to play but i can’t see any of the Tkachuks not playing. As for the defence there has to be under 6 healthy defencemen in order to have Pesce playing. McCavoy is already ruled out so one more D would have to be ruled out. By the way a lot of people wonder why Cole Caufield didn’t get the phone call instead of Thompson. Personally i think Thompson was the right call due to his size over the diminutive Caufield.

Hughes never got medical clearance to play
I am actually very bummed about this because Hughes did not have a chance to show what a maestro he is on the Power Play. Hughes toils with some obscurity in Vancouver where he has been maybe their best player for a few years now. He is a real talent but doesn't get the chance to showcase his skills. He missed out on a very rare chance an up and coming player has to shine on the biggest stage. It's very disappointing for him, for Team USA and its fans. None of the other possible replacements are the same level of player he is. There is not a real great depth of talent at this position, or the others for that matter.

What do you mean by ‘he tolls with some obscurity in Vancouver?’ HE WON THE NORRIS TROPHY LAST SEASON WHILE PLAYING IN VANCOUVER!

Anyways he’s still injured & likely wouldn’t have been able to play anyway. I could be wrong but i’ll be surprised if Brett Pesce ends up playing since the Americans only have 1 injured or sick defenceman. They need to have two out for an emergency replacement to be allowed to play. But the Americans still have 2021 Norris trophy winner Adam Fox playing & also the great Zac Werensky who’s been the best player in this competition & will likely win the MVP of his team ends up winning. Right now he’s on pace for a career season & one of the top candidates to win the Norris. He’s been having a better season than even Makar & Hughes. Tournament observers have been in awe of his strong play & say he’s been the Team USA mvp so far! Losing a player of his stature would be devastating to the team & he’s been a big reason why Columbus has a chance at making the playoffs this season. He’s simply had a marvelous season!

Vancouver is almost never on TV games in the USA and nobody ever sees him play. In fact, the 3 televised games are so late that no kids get to watch him, who might otherwise idolize this talented young defenseman and buy his jersey. He toils in anonymity, and really is better known in Canada than in the USA for his hockey heroics. This was a chance for him to shine on a very very national stage which he may never get again in his career, and he was robbed of the opportunity by fate and circumstances. How can you not understand this? The rug was completely pulled out from under this kid.
By the way if you do a Google Search you will find Quinn Hughes GAME WORN JERSEYS selling on Ebay for $22.50. If you do not think that is disgusting, then I really do not know what to tell you.

He’s well known across Canada & he plays on Hockey Night in Canada at least once a week in front of a national audience. Unless a player plays in a major hockey market in the States not many would know who they are unless that team has contended for a Cup. Especially on the west coast or in markets like Columbus & Carolina. Even in major markets it happens. If Adam Fox lived next door to me i wouldn’t even know who he is although he won the Norris a few years ago. Most people don’t even know how Maklin Celebrini looks like. Or Wyatt Johnson, Robert Thomas & Jacob Slavin.

Hard to say. Marchand is 37 & a shell of the great player he once was. You’re correct that playing at home in Boston should be a great motivator. Marner will mostly be used in a checking role. I hope Sam Bennett & Mark Stone finally wake up. Strange to say but a buddy of mine who’s attending tonight’s game in Boston told me this morning that he went to a couple of sports bars last night & no one was talking about the game. When he was in Mtl last weekend he said that’s the only thing everyone was talking about & comparing the interest between the two cities seems like night & day.

Charlie is still dealing with an infection- getting IV antibiotics. I once saw a diabetic friend go through this when he developed some gangrene on his leg after falling into a diabetic coma. Any time there is an infection where you are getting IV antibiotics they are worried about Sepsis. Bad things can happen. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Charlie!!!!!

Agree, I would add Reinhart and Marner, so far these guys are playing as if this was a regular game in november, no emotions, no emergency!
I meant to write Reinhart. My mistake. Bennet’s been good. As for Marner he scored the OT winner against Sweden & they would likely not be playing tonight had they been beaten by Sweden. I also liked his game against Finland & he’s a beast on the PK. I think he’s more suited playing on the third line in this tournament due to his checking proficiency.

Hearing Kyle Connor may not play & his spot could be taken up by veteran Chris Kreider. Matthew Tkachuk will also play although he’s got a bad left leg & has trouble skating on it. He’s been seen limping badly when he walks. Brady Tkachuk has been dealing with the flu bug. As for Canada Sidney Crosby is still dealing with a nagging upper body injury & hasn’t been able to take many faceoffs or shots.
