Chloroquine is not effective against coronavirus, according to two studies.

Hydroxychloroquine has strong supporters, but in recent weeks, several studies have questioned the effectiveness of this molecule in the treatment of Covid-19.

It is also said that the side effects are very dangerous. Maybe this remedy is worse than the disease.

Trump put that in your teeth.
He said this product was the best.
Donald one day are you going to listen to the scientists?

As someone once said: health rather than money.

I don't even know what that means. Francisco d'Anconia said it best. Money is simply a tool of exchange, which requires goods and services to be produced and people who need them. What does it have to do with health? Money keeps your health care system afloat, gives you housing, food, public transit and all the essentials to survive. Then, for those who want a little more, with hard work, it gives them that.

I've never understood the generally unrelated comparisons between health and money.

Montreal is the 5th city in the world where there are more cases / 100,000.
The John Hopkins map says that there's 74,782 total cases in Canada and 40,724 in Quebec. Where did you get that Montreal has 100,000 cases and it's the 5th largest city with covid?

...agree with 2f2s...

It's actually death per 100k population.

But honestly these stats are not that representative. I know for a fact that many of those cities do not account for all death because they simply don't do the analysis... Many city in Mexico, Brazil, all over Africa, etc... most probably have or will have much more death but they are unaccounted for.

I wish I'm the only one. When I look to Arruda, I see the evil in him.
I trusted him at first, but now he seems the biggest liar in the world.

Not 100,000 cases, per 100,000 inhabitants.
I deleted my post because I didn't find a valid link.

Sorry, more good news for the haters:

I think they will adapt what Patron has proposed earlier in this thread. The vaccine will be tested on prisoners (with or without consent) and the military. This was done many times during early years of the cold war and is not new. This is the “warp speed drive” in the new vaccine development as testing is a bottleneck. The test data will be secret, of course, and can’t be presented to the FDA, but they will find the way to approve it nevertheless. With deliberate infection of relatively modest size groups (around 200 people, half for vaccine and the other half for the placebo) the vaccine can be tested rapidly. This is the reason military is now in charge. They can keep it under wraps.

You say that money keeps your health care system afloat, gives you housing, food, public transit and everything you need to survive.
So the rest of the reasoning is: with less money, your accommodation will be in areas where it is cheaper, therefore disadvantaged, for food it is even worse, more things cheaper and necessarily less good for health , and for everything else to survive, everything will be much less abundant.
As proof, during this pandemic, the districts of Montreal least affected are Outremont, and Roxboro, and the most affected are Villeray, St-Michel, Parc-extension, Côte-des-Neiges, Lasalle and Montreal-North

It's being widely reported that a "tidal wave" of New Yorkers are buying property in Connecticut to escape the wrath of Covid 19:

This is somewhat ironic because Connecticut has been hard hit and yesterday recorded the highest number of fatalities since April 24, which marked the most deaths in one day. Some Yale researchers are opining that CT is about 4 weeks away from the peak and cases will not decline until 6-12 weeks.

Meanwhile there is a huge political fight over the phased reopening of CT restaurants starting May 20, when restaurants with outdoor dining will open and all customers must weak masks except when shoveling food in mouth and must maintain social distance. Governor Lamont has suggested indoor dining will not begin until late June with social distancing blueprints and guidelines are being given to restaurants on how to space out their operations. I know of at least one local restaurant that has spent enormous time and money redesigning and reorganizing it's dining area so that it is "socially distancing appropriate."

A lot of restaurants are getting financially hammered and for them, these measures go too far and the indoor dining ops are not opening fast enough. Some others have criticized Lamont for moving too quickly on this. There seems to be a crossfire on this with Lamont in the middle. His suggestions seem reasonable, but I personally find the idea of dining while wearing a mask to be objectively bizarre and weird, and I am going to stick to takeout for now.

We are also being required to wear masks in Court and jury trials are still suspended and probably will be until 2021. The biggest problem is the jury rooms. They are fucking tiny and meant to be crammed full of people in sardine like fashion. The Courts here just were not built for this. The result is jury cases will drag out endlessly. Advantage to insurance companies.

Pharmaceutical company Medicago, based in Quebec, has conducted conclusive animal tests for its candidate vaccine against COVID-19.

The vaccine led to the creation of antibodies 10 days after the administration of a dose in mice.

In this case, 10 days after the first dose, we already have a good response. It all depends on the vaccines and indications, it can take two doses before you see a good antibody response.
To be continued ...

I have a big dream: that we find an effective vaccine, but in addition that it is discovered in Quebec or in Canada.
We could also discover a drug, a molecule or a combination of molecules that would cure us of this virus.

And especially because Trump should depend on us, while the opposite would be a disaster because he would like to keep the discovery only for his country. This man is imbued with himself and doesn't stop praising his administration. How can he say that with 90,000 dead soon.
