I see it more as a victory for future House committee's if anything. Bannon could have just answered the subpoena, pled the 5th, say nothing, and go home. This conviction goes both ways so we need to be careful about what we wish for. This wasn't a victory for anybody. Congress subpoenaed Bannon, Bannon said fuck you, and he gets convicted for contempt. The next time anyone ignores a subpoena from Congress they will think twice. That's all that happened here.

He gets subpoenaed and see's an opportunity to get back in the spotlight. He needs to make a living like anybody else and this will turn into a book deal or a job down the road. His legal team clearly shit the bed if they encouraged this. All he had to do was show up and take the fifth. Had he just done that you'd never hear about it. Instead, every Fake News outlet and keyboard warrior jumped all over it doing exactly what Bannon wanted to happen in the first place.
