And now today all threads have been marked read. Last time, I was connected was last Tuesday and didn't have this problem before.
A feature that I liked before this new version was the possiblity to see when was my last connection to the forum.

Text Display in Threads

Is it just me, or are the other members whose threads have all of a sudden started getting "narrower"? What I mean is that the width of the threads is about 2 inches wide - each line has between 4 and 6 words before going to the next line. Not all posts, but quite a few of them.

Did something happen to my settings? Is there a way to change them back? Like this:

I was up on Henri
Bourasa at the SSAQ
and had a couple of
hours to kill so looked
around and found
a seedy looking place
on Mullin. I don't have
the address or the name
but you can't miss it
because Mullin is a very
short street between
henri Bourassa and Gouin
east of L'Acadie.. Ok so
much for the 411.

instead of like this:

The narrow lines are likely NOT being caused by your settings.
I noticed on the weekend that some posts were coming in at a single character wide per line, but this was fixed.
It sure makes it hard to follow when the lines are too narrow.

This week-end, while surfing some post, I was noticing some ''smilies'' on the pics !
I was wondering when that occured lol !

Refreching the page, brought back that emonicon right where it was before in the text, not on the pics !

:p

The formatting in posts really seems to be messed up. It was ok when I made a post but when I edited it after posting I noticed that I couldn't change any text to bold or italic. And once the edit was done, my lines of text were shortened and I had three lines where I ahd two before the edit. Even my one line edit addition spilled over into two lines. Looks like there's still more work to be done.

Agree with you, New board is just useless complicate and nothing improve of operation itself, we dont need that ! we need something very simple: easy to write, easy to search and easy to read.

Hello everyone,

I have just merged three threads with this one. Please post all comments, bug reports or complaints in this thread instead of starting new ones. Any new threads will be merged with this one.

Thank you,

Automatic going to last post when you click on a thread.

It a big hassles to go to the last post when I click on a thread. It would be so much easier if it was automatic.

Why is it a big hassle? Just click on "Last post" on the right...

As EagerBeaver would say "it's an extra click!! Goddamnit this is horrific, I don't need no stinkin' extra clicks!!" :D

Hello Blaise,

Board activity has not dropped at all since the upgrade. A handful of complaints, most of which have been resolved, will not lead to a return to the old version of the software. As I have posted in previous posts, the new version is here to stay.

Agree completely! I'd be curious to know if activity has dropped at all since the new software was installed. Can we just call this a failed experiment or valiant effort (depending on whether you are the cup is half full or half empty type) and revert back to the old board? I think that it should be taken into heavy consideration.

Funny, I haven't read this thread at all, just clicked on the last page of this thread for the first time now.

I've definitely noticed a change since the new software came online. For the record, I hate the new look. I find that it makes me check the board less often, and reply less often. And when I check new messages, it seems that there are fewer interesting non-advertiser threads.

All in my head? Perhaps. Board won't switch back? Perhaps. Will my opinon matter? Surely not.

But for the record, I add my voice to the complaints side: I hate the new look and wish you would switch back.

PS: I hate that when I click "new posts", it's impossible to tell how many pages on new posts there are. It will says something like "Page 1 of 5", but then you get to page 5 and it says "showing P. 5 of 9".

PPS: I like to highlight text as I read, especially when scrolling down the "new posts" page. This was very easy in the old board. For some reason this is very difficult in this new board. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Oh yeah, one more thing I hate: on Firefox v3.5, when I click "zoom" (Ctrl_+) a few times, it doesn't zoom properly. The text bunches up into ridiculously tiny paragraphs. I like to read MERB from pretty far away from the screen so this is a BIG minus for me.

scroll to bottom of page. you will see "Results 1 to 5 of 5" or something to that effect.

No, that's the problem. When there are more than five pages that list is wrong. It will says "5 of 5", until you get to the 5th page. Then it will all of a sudden says "you're on page 5 of 9" or something. Then you get to 9 and it says "5 of 11".

are you wearing the required true 3-d glasses?

Thanks for your sooo helpful comment. Guess what: I run at high resolution, so the font on this new board looks tiny. Very few other websites have a problemn zooming. The old MERB didn't, the new MERB doesn't work properly. It's a bug.

Wow, this is an awesome feature that I knew nothing about until you mentioned it Kepler! Thanks! BTW, it works fine for me without bunching up using the latest Firefox browser.

It works fine for me for the first few zooms, then craps out. The number of 'zooms' possible depends on your resolution/window size. Try zooming to the max extent possible, and you'll see the effect, especially for quoted text (it collapses to a single character per line, even though there is a huge amount of space to the right that could be used).

Happy that you found a useful new feature though. PS: Ctrl_<minus> will shrink your font back.

I only needed it to zoom 1 click so that's probably why it worked fine for me. Thanks again!
