I don't personally own one but I love how the Kia EV6 looks, if I were to buy an electric it would be that one

Why do you feel that you have "no choice?" Maybe 10-15 years from now that might be true, but it is definitely not true now.

Electric cars have come a long way in a short time, mainly thanks to Elon Musk. But they still are not clearly better than ICE-powered cars and/or hybrid cars. Given present technology, charging infrastructure, choices in makes and models and costs, most people are better off with a hybrid car rather than an electric.

There are many good offerings of hybrids, especially those from Toyota, Honda and most of the other major manufacturers, both basic and luxury. Start your search with the idea of buying a hybrid and then go about the buying process the same way you would if you are buying a regular ICE car. You will pay less than for an electric and get a product that is easier to own and run and that is still green-friendly. Don't give in to pressure from the climate fanatics and feel forced to buy an electric car before they are ready for prime time.

In that case, stick to the all-electric offerings of Hyundai and Kia. Steer far clear of anything made in a country like Vietnam, unless it’s a scooter.

In case of Vinfast, you get the car but the batteries are rented. The reason is that your var will always have new batteries and you don't have to worry about it's degradation. It's an interesting idea since batteries don't enjoy at all the canadian winter and lose their capacities when you use too much of the fast charging.

For me, I will not choose an electric car unless I have a charging device at home and the charging infrastructure is way more developed than it is now.

Thanks.....same here.. don't have yet a charging device at home and it's a complex issue/matter here in the building.....and seems expensive...i heard around 6,000./installation par unité de condos dans notre complexe ...and we have to go obligatoirement

Problem in Canada is the the salt because of the winter. The body does not last. In the US there are many many cars from the 60s. If I could I would keep a car from the 60s or 70s I would but the salt would ruin the body. They do not build them like they used to and I will always prefer a pushrod V8 engine over any electric car.

Myself am not interested in electric cars at all. I rather a V8 gas guzzling engine. Having said that, the infrastructure is not widespread yet and if you do not own a house then good luck to charging. Until they can fix the charging issue so that a battery can be charged to full capacity in the same time it takes to fill up a gas tank then I do not see myself getting an electric car. Maybe 10-15 years down the road this issue might be solved? Of course governments are forcing it on everyone with subsidies and regulations. Anything that requires taxpayers money means the product is not profitable. These are things best left to the free market.

Ottawa is giving $13 billion to Volkswagen to open a battery factory ->

Quebec pledging $300 million to GM for an EV plant ->

So yes I agree with one poster who said it is being forced. Not only is it being shoved down our throats we are all being forced to fund corporate welfare to push the eco agenda.

J’aimerais bien essayer la Mustang Électrique, j’ai essayé un Tesla SUV. C’est impressionnant à quel point ils accélèrent bien.

Honestly the Mustang electric car is sacrilege to the Mustang name. That is supposed to be a muscle car with a pushrod V8. I am a big muscle car fan. If Ford wants to sell an electric performance car then they should market it under a different name. Traditional muscle cars from the 60s (Camaro, Corvette, Challenger) should always remain true to what they were, muscle cars with large V8 engines and powered by gasoline.

I rented one for a road trip last winter! Wow! When you drive one, you understand it's name! Really cool car, and talk about muscle! It accelerates instantly, 100% of the torque at 1 km/h! Really cool car.

Cloud! à la défense de Ford , the name of the car is actually Mach E not Mustang. But personally I have test driven the car when they came out and came close to buy it but I backed off only because I wanted to see what others coming would have to offer.

This is a big milestone. Tesla has also been aggressive with pricing and discounting here in the US. Also, the 5 year total cost of ownership for the 3 and Y models was rated very highly by Kelly Blue Book. The other big advantage for me personally is not having to worry about oil changes, maintenance, etc - the peace of mind with a electric car is quite something.
