I may have exaggerated a bit. And there are always exceptions like everything else. Jacques Lemaire, Pat Burns, Michel Bergeron, Jacques Demers & Claude Julien were very good & repected coaches. Julien may even coach again in the league in the near future. Who knows maybe with my Senators. I also consider Alain Vigneault to be a good, very respected coach. I’m not sure about Jacques Martin, Pierre Page, Orval Tessier, Armand ‘Bep’ Guidolin, Guy Boucher & Michel Therrien. Guy Carbonneau was on his way to becoming a good coach i think but Kovalev & the other Russians got him fired & his coaching career came to a premature end. I put Mario Tremblay in the same category as Dom Ducharme, Piton Ruel, Jean Perron, Boom-Boom Geoffrion & Rocket Richard. But i firmly believe that the organization’s insistence that the head coach speak french is for the dinosaurs & has no place in 2023. They are losing way too many potentially great coaching candidates with this silly requirement. And coaches coming back for a second coaching tour doesn’t make the organization reflect positively. And the reason for this to happen is the french thing. Thank god the great Scotty Bowman spoke fluent french!Last time I checked Luke Richardson’s team sat last place in the standing and Dominic Ducharme was eating hotdogs, we can go back to Randy Cunneyworth if you want to but the reality is that Martin St-Louis is the Head Coach and your opinion about French coaches being not as good is ridiculous.
