Is it true that Muller was fired only because he can't speak fluent French and Ducharme does? This is what I am hearing. Wasn't Muller senior to Ducharme in the coaching hierarchy?

In the organisation's perspective it was obvious DUCHARME was and now is the one they want to lead the team cause his good relation et connaissance des jeunes joueurs....big big challenge...il a quelques mois pour faire ses preuves .

My impression is that he got fired for the lack of results point. He's been in charge of the power play for a few years now and I dont think anyone can remember when was the last time the habs had a decent PP.

...and probably to had keep Gallagher on the bench in game 3 and 4 in the playoffs against Flyers last summer after Julien heart attack!

It almost never happens in sports that a head coach is fired as well as a senior assistant and a junior assistant is then promoted to head coach. Please refresh me on when this last happened in ANY sport. There may well be valid reasons to fire Muller (lack of PP production, poor handling of team after Julien heart attack last year as mentioned above), but what is in favor of Ducharme? You guys think he had absolutely nothing to do with the losing while the other 2 did? Are you guys serious?

Look behind you.
Read it was Price who wanted him gone also, what price wants Price gets. In the Gazette tomorrow.

Yes, weird, I noticed the date also.

For the second time in four years, Carey Price has succeeded in having a head coach of the Montreal Canadiens fired.

Claude Julien’s fate was sealed when Brady Tkachuk, who is a Marvel Comics-like villain for us Habs fans, raced in on the right side late in the third period in Ottawa on Tuesday and shot a puck past our all-world goalie with one hand on his stick. If that wasn’t a clear enough message to general manager Marc Bergevin, Price underlined his point by going down way too early on Josh Norris in the shootout to make absolutely sure that the Ottawa Senators won and Bergevin got the message.

Here is an article from the Burlington Free Press on Ducharme, who is a former star player at the University of Vermont:
He has only been named an interim head coach so I would not get too excited about him just yet.

In speaking to ESPN about the firings, Bergevin noted that there were no excuses because the team had "zero" injuries (something he emphasized twice). But maybe Julien was doing the best he could with the players that Bergevin gave him. How about someone ask Bergevin to answer that question? Why is it that the coach is always axed for not winning before the GM is asked whether he isn't winning because of the players you gave him? Is Julien just a scapegoat here?

IMHO players will give their best tonight to win.....the first 5-10 min. will tell us if they are ready.....and PRICE should set the example....we are expecting a competitive team--60 min et de la discipline....can't wait.

Jupiter,

We all know that what you say is true, but it galls me on some level when the coach is fired and the GM gets a pass and a lease on life at least until the next coach can't win with the same players. I think Julien had a little bit of a raw deal. While the 3 consecutive losses to Ottawa were embarrassing, they were close games and tough losses. I feel badly for Claude. I just hope he is being paid through the end of his contract.

They always get pay till the end of the contract, unless they sign to another team. Now for Julien, I am among those who believe he is out of tune with the feel of his room. He probably under estimate the growing frustration coming from his veterans and leaders. He stubbornly stick to his philosophy of using 4 lines equally, refusing to go with his real guns when required. Then he took Tatar off the line-up, from there it was bye-bye amigo.
