Look behind you.
In some European countries like Germany, some companies have beer on tap for the employees to enjoy with their lunch in the cafeteria.

When I was younger the pubs in the town I was born would close between 5 and 7pm so people would go home for supper. People did not go to pubs for food then, drink beer, eat at home. There was a arcade type machine in the pubs, two metal balls, one with a dial, crank it up and electricity would give you a jolt, my uncles would put me in the middle for a laugh, good times.

This is the first I heard of a 10.1 beer being available, rum is my choice mostly, I save beer for BBQ's and camping, the odd occasion in a pub, enjoy some micro-breweries with a good light meal.
Will need to try this 10.1

There are a lot of 10%+ beers available on the market, especially from micro-breweries.

My home office in Copenhagen used to have this 10 years ago when I first visited..no more
It was Carlsberg on tap

Now with the twins adopting American microbrews ( Mikkeler and Evil Twin ), this is all the rage in Denmark, as well as the rest of Europe

Best Regards

STN, if I had to guees, I’d say that your birth country is either England or Ireland? I work with some guys from Dublin, and these guys know how to drink. For them, every night is Happy Hour...and I’m not just talking a pint or two.

I had a class with an old Irish professor a few years back. Broke the stereotype by bringing wine for the last class. Anyway, told us this story of how when he was a young man and working as a night security guy in a warehouse. Didn't like his job until he found out the nearby pubs were open from 7 am to 9 am to accommodate the people on the night shift, so that made it all okay.

And in the US. Tried the one in SF and SD. Great breweries! Beer served at perfect temperature.

Cheers,

Those strong beers they sell at convenience stores for $4.79 for 1.8 liter smell like horse pee. No thanks.

Nope, Germany hence the quote I added.
That reminds me of Oktoberfest. I envy those who live in Munich. I cannot imagine having a major international beer event every year in my home town. I could never get that lucky. If I were lucky enough to live there, I’d likely take my yearly vacation in September to coincide with Oktoberfest. What better way to enjoy a vacation than spending all day enjoying the best beer in the world and occasionally seeing an SP or two.

That event does wonders for tourism in Germany!

Later on we went to Russia for work and one night at our hotel with some of the locals he had 4 shots of vodka with a couple of beers and I had to carry him up to his room.
Had no tolerance for hard liquor at all.
Haha...reminds me of a buddy of mine at McGill. One night he got so plastered, that we had to carry him back to his room on a stretcher...haha...those were the days.

Its more like 1.18L and yeah price varies from places. Surprisingly they are cheaper in Montreal than where i live. I see them as low as 3.79$ + taxes sometimes versus here the cheaper is 2 for 9$ if you take 2 but one only its like 5.50$+taxes

The taste ain't great but after the first 3-4 gulps it get more tolerable... you taste less... lol

As for Oktober Fest, damn its one of my top 3 places i would like to go on a vacation... Problem is i don't have anybody to go with it if i ever want to do it... :(

It is something you should not miss, the flight from Montreal is reasonable but the cost once you get there is not cheap with the high euro. If you want to go on the low budget it can be done with planning but all the hostiles are probably full early. http://www.jugendherberge.de/en

I was in Munich, what, 2 or 3 years ago? Off season, and the room was still wayyyyy too expensive. I'm kinda curious about the whole Oktoberfest aura, but it's not on my list. But hey, I don't like beer, so I might not be objective .

Kinda like not liking metal music and not being interested in wacken festival :p
All about them prices, man. I'd do a free Oktorberfest (or a discounted one), but Munich is just not the place I'd go back to. Now, a Polish Vodka Vacation...:whoo:

I would not call Labatt's or Molson's products beer. More like a malt sewer beverage:)
