What a great shoot out win for the Red, White&Blue last night against a good Atlanta team :D . The conference standings are fucked up – the Habs should be in 2nd with 56 points but are 4th because the other division leaders are automatically seeded ahead.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Craps are on a lucky two game winning streak, giving the gullible masses in Toronto false hope that their shitty team actually has a chance at a playoff spot – but, the Make Beliefs still find themselves in 14th spot as Tampa, Florida and Buffalo won tonight. :)

Sid the Kid out for an extended period?

Sidney Crosby went down with what appears to be a very serious ankle/lower leg injury in tonight's game against the Lightning. I just heard that he might be out anywhere from a month to the rest of the regular season. If i'm a Pittsburgh fan, i'm letting out a big "Yikes!"

p.s. There'll be lots of disappointed fans at the game tomorrow night against the Habs. Many people spent big bucks to see Sidney Crosby play.

Mark Streit will make Habs fans forget all about Souray (who bailed for a bigger pay cheque).

You honestly think that bum Mark Streit will make fans forget Sheldon Souray? Please!!

Streit: 28 points in 46 games, cap hit: $600,000
Souray: 10 points, cap hit: $6,250,000

:p

Tonight is the first time for as long as i can recall that the Leafs will not be on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada national telecast. They chose to go with the Habs & Pens instead. However, they couldn't forecast that Sidney Crosby would get injured last night (he'll be out at least a month) and i'm curious if they'll stick with their original plan tonight. This game doesn't mean anything anymore without Crosby playing.

As opposed to Leaf games that never mean anything no matter who's playing? ;)

At least the Leafs are always exciting to watch, whether they win or lose. The Habs? One of the best cures for insomnia. Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Sucks when it doesn't benefit you eh!!!

I watched the Flyers finish behind New Jersey by one point three time in the past 10 years with the second best point total in the EAST only to be the forth seed for the playoffs, but until they play a system where everyone in the east plays everyone else the same number of times I still think it is the best way to do it.

Punchless Habs Blanked 2-0 by Crosby-less Penguins

The game was 1-0 since the first period until Evgeni Malkin scored into an empty net with seconds remaining on the clock. As the old saying goes:

"I went to a hockey game at the Bell Center & a soccer game broke out."

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So the classiest organization in the NHL finally put John Ferguson Jr. out of his misery.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=227906&hubname=

I got a good laugh when I read this in TSN's article about CF "In 1991, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as president, GM and COO. He stayed with Toronto through 1997, after helping to turn the team into a contender again."

Only in Toronto are you considered a contender when you average 74 points a season. :p

On the bright side there might be a little hope short term since Cliff Fletcher is not a dummy. The best proof of that is that he refused to take the job full time. :D

Note to Cliff: Reggie Houle is sitting by the phone waiting for your call. ;)

I haven't bothered checking, but Mtl's GMs' record probably isn't much better over the past 25 years.

Cliff can't be that bright if he agreed to return to this vomitous cesspool, even on a limited basis.

In case anyone hadn't already noticed it, the Leafs have now cemented their reputation as the most classless franchise in the NHL (and I'm not just talking about their putrid on-ice results and their 41 consecutive years of failure).

At least they have a couple of Stanley Cups to show for their effort. What does Toronto have? The Maple Craps haven't made it out of their conference in 41 years! :D

Really now......so what do you make of the past 2 seasons? If your theory is right Einstein, Fergie would still be GM as i'm writing this.

I was in the process of replying to your post with plenty of digs at you, TSN.ca, and the Leafs while I had the TSN pre-game show playing in the background when they ran a story of a kid named Jordan Primeau who’s been fighting cancer on and off since he was 18 months old.

TSN along with the Make a Wish Foundation and the Leafs organization arranged to have him attend this morning’s practice where Jordan got to meet his idol Mats Sundin and Jason Blake. (who he hoped to meet for obvious reasons) After that he was given a tour of the dressing room where they even had him meet Alexander Ovechkin who presented him with an autographed stick. Lastly Jordan and his whole family get to attend the game tonight versus the Capitals as guest of the Maple Leafs.

The story touched me and the Leaf’s players and organization impressed me considering what’s going on this week so now I have no choice (even though it will be hard :D) but to lay off them and especially Jason Blake for the rest of this year. :(

Sports Centre will probably run the story again tonight be if not you can see another story about the little guy here.

PS. I wonder if it should be considered child abuse to let a six year old constantly watch Leaf’s games. :p (OK now I’m really done ;))

Thrashers Forward Ilya Kovalchuk suspended one game

Kovalchuk suspended....for CHEAP SHOT

SI.com said:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Atlanta forward Ilya Kovalchuk was suspended for one game without pay by the NHL on Wednesday for a hit from behind on Rangers defenseman Michal Rozsival, keeping the Thrashers star out of the rematch Thursday night in New York.

Kovalchuk was ejected late in the first period Tuesday night after he drove Rozsival into the boards from behind after elbowing him earlier in the Rangers' 4-0 victory. Rozsival was cut and stayed down for a few minutes.

The suspension will cost Kovalchuk $34,224.60, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

See the Video of Kovalchuk hitting Rozival

What a terrific come from behind road win for the Habs tonight against the second place Devils (who also have one of the best home records in the league). :D

Meanwhile, another loss for the Toronto Maple Craps who can thank Ottawa for beating Tampa, which helps the Make-Me-Laffs stay a few points out of the cellar in the eastern conference. :D

That win leaves the Habs just 4 points behind the Senators for first place in the Eastern conference. Great way to finish before the All Star break.

Habs outshot the Devils 20-3 in the 3rd period. It's a good sign to see your team coming back from behind, especially against a top rated goalie.

Habs look serious about making the playoffs this year.

Meanwhile in Toronto... :D

It's great to see that the team is on a roll & even Carbonneau's temper last night didn't discourage the team from coming back & beating the Devils. Is it simply a coincidence that the team has been playing this way since Price was sent back to Hamilton & Huet was reinstated as the team's number one goalie? Hell, even Koivu is contributing once again! Go Habs Go! :D

Why am I reminded of that leopard I saw changing his spots at the zoo (the Toronto zoo of course)?

What a great night for hockey!

A well deserved win for the Habs last night against a good Washington team
as Huet stands tall - Hip Hip Huet! :D

Meanwhile, the futility continues in Toronto as the Maple Laffs pick up right where they left off before the break - with another loss! :D
