As someone in his 30, my team has a lot of early 20 employees. I did notice there is laziness in them.
1 of them is a young guitarist. From what I was told, his parent are rich and he lives with his father (separated parents). The reason is he was working with me is because his mother wanted him to have work experience... he only worked once a week.
I had a young girl, I don't know her age but it was her first job. After 1 month, she suddenly became lazy and purposely worked slow. When we asked her to be quicker, she said we need to pay her better for her to work faster. She knows her worth/value... no job experience, no diploma, wasn't doing a good job... when she received a free kitchen cutting board, she said she doesn't need it, her mother cook for her... when she quit, she did it via text message and gave no 2 weeks pre-notice.
This is many of them, when they do the close, if they finish their main tasks, instead of trying to find something to do until the end of their shift to help us tomorrow, they find a place to hide and play on their mobile phone.
I work in IT and train people on some production systems, I had a young man 25 lives with is parents and drives an AUDI, we work the night shift from 18h30 to 6:30am 3 times per week. Is first day of training he puts is head phone on and starts watching comedy video on is phone, I was like hey what are you doing you are in training. After 3 weeks things did not get better I told my boss and he said we don't have a choice right now there is more jobs than employee. When he was alone on the system he made mistakes and I was blame for not giving him a proper training. I gave my boss the finger and said next time I will quit, he said ok ok. Now the young guy said he could not do nights because is social life was suffering. So they manage to put him daytime... insane. All this and he quit the job on the spot not 2 weeks notice nothing. After that he went to work to repair garage doors he quit again and he after a use car salesman. He told a guy at work that he was not sure how he was going to make is payment for is AUDI is parents are not rich. I have 2 more stories like this that I will keep to myself. Base salary at our job is 45k to start and 10% more for night shift so pretty damn good for someone who lives with is parents and pay no pension.
Forgot to mention that he told the job he broke is back at the gym so he was 3 weeks out that I had to cover for him, and after that each time he tried to call in sick 1 day out of 3... that really made me mad.
At 24 when I graduated from IT college I was so proud of myself back in 1998, The first company I was working for were aholes so I quit 23k per year overtime not paid and they were harassing me yeah right.
But the rest of my IT jobs I got I put in a lot overtime I was happy to learn wanted more etc. I had a social life I was clubbing etc but job always came first.
Today young people mostly raise by single mom who are in depression pills (online dating experience, one wanted to leave her 2 young kids who were sleeping to come have sex at my condo) and the lack of father figure turns them into a bunch of lazy losers.
The future is not looking bright, also lots of young men at my job are pushing 30 and are still virgins, they don't chase women they simply stay home and play video game, sometimes if I compare how I was at there age its like I am in the twilight zone.
I am happy to be 52 have money in the bank and a nice heritage when my mother passes, looking at young people today, they are so lazy, there relationships never last, the price of housing is close to impossible, how can anyone afford a 650k house a car etc.
The future is not looking bright not sure what will happen but I probably won't be here when it happens.
