The Leafs are NOT tanking - they are just playing the same atrocious, gutless game that they have been masters of for the past 48 years of unparalleled failure.

The handful of Leaf fans remaining - if in fact there even IS a complete handful - are swallowing the fiction that their beloved heroes are playing poorly on purpose, when the true fact is that the Leafs are playing as "well" (ha ha) as they can. It's just a truly wretched team: very little talent, no guts, no discipline, and perhaps not the greatest coach or GM in the history of the sport.

If Kadri has been suspended for 3 games, just imagine how much he PO'd Shanny...since our hero Phil has NEVER been suspended by the Leafs.

Latest Leaf Loss

The Leafs were totally dominated by the Flames.

Score: 6-3 for Calgary.
Faceoff Wins: Calgary 42, TO 22
Giveaways: Calgary 4, TO 7
Takeaways: Calgary 13, TO 7

Leafs had a 5 minute power play. What happened? Calgary scored TWO shorthanded goals.

Kessel: ZERO goals, ZERO assists, ZERO points, a lowly 2 shots, MINUS 3, 2 giveaways

"Thank you Mr. Burke." "Thank you Mr. Nonis."

After the loss to Calgary, the big line is now a combined MINUS 85 on the season so far. (Is that good?)

JVR is minus 27, Bozak is minus 28, and...drum roll please...."Merging Superstar" and "future Hall of Famer" "Phil "the thrill" Kessel" is minus 30.

How good is Phil? Good enough that his minus 30 currently ranks 843RD (!!!!!!) in the NHL.

Courtesy of Kevin McGran, Toronto Star:

"Lupul last earned points February 3."

Kadri was "not made available to the media...Professional Hockey Writers' Association lodged a formal complaint...according to NHL bylaws players who practise are supposed to be made available."

Quotes from Lupul: "There's a ton of off-ice distractions that don't happen in other places. You have to be mentally strong here. It takes a certain type of player to play here."

We know of all the problems the Leafs have or are having, but what is the solution? That is the question, what can they do?

Yes, they cemented their lead over the rest of the league in shorthanded goals allowed. They have let in 50% more than the next worst team in that regard. In fact, during the single power play to which joelcairo refers, they permitted more shorthanded goals than the Islanders have this entire season.

As I mentioned before, instead of the usual parade at the end of the season from the Gardens (to the golf course), the best way that management can rejuvenate the team is to send them on a vacation to Malaysia (of course, via Malaysian Airlines). That would guarantee that they will bond together for the rest of their lives.

Congrats to "Phil "the thrill" Kessel" on his performance in yet another Leaf loss (this latest one 4-1 to the Canucks).

With the aid of the MINUS 2 he recorded in this game, the "merging superstar" and "future Hall of Famer" is now an astonishing MINUS 32 on the season.

How good is that? It's good enough to rank him 845th out of 847 NHL players so far this season.

The only players beneath him are Rasmus Ristolainen of the Sabres at minus 33 and Nail Yakupov of the Oilers at minus 34.

Go Phil Go! You CAN catch those two guys:thumb:

Look behind you.
With Buffalo doing the grand tank and Edmonton still sucking it would be nice to let all teams who do not get into the playoffs have an even chance during the draft. Put all the names into a draw and see what the picking order is. I do not think McDavid would be too thrilled to play in Buffalo or Edmonton.

Done work for the winter...................... Not a good way to end the season but I am going to the Oiler , Leafs game tonight.... Do not think it will be a sellout and should be able to get a scalped ticket for very cheap.

From David Ebner, the Globe and Mail:

"Who better to regain one's confidence against than the Toronto Maple Leafs, the laughingstock of the league, a team that lurches from pillar to post daily?"

"The Leafs on Saturday were, as usual, not good..."

"The Canucks side, while not inspiring, isn't a Leafs-like mess."

Should be a interesting game tonight between the Leafs and the Oilers, will they play to win or lose?

Toronto fans (apologists) will tell you as soon as the game is over.

Exactly! If the Leafs win, it will be "Thank you Mr. Burke. Thank you Mr. Nonis. This team took some time to come together but now these YOUNG Leafs are poised for greatness next season. Phil the thrill Kessel is a sure bet for the Hall of Fame. Brian Burke should be in jail for robbery for the theft he pulled off against Boston in obtaining Phil! Dion Phaneuf proved why he is Captain Canada, as the Leafs DESTROYED a fine young Oiler team. And what more can you say about Big Game Bernier? Thank Heaven we don't have a GM like Stevie Why, who was just lucky enough to INHERIT a Tampa Bay team filled with superstars. And thank Heaven we don't have a team like the scabs, the dead things, or the baby bears - WE have Canada's Team!"

Then again, if the Leafs LOSE, it will be: 'great move by the Leafs! McDavid and Eichel are on their way here! Leaf Nation can't wait! Shanny was just an adequate player but he's a GENIUS when it comes to running a team!"

Gotta love THIS: It's halfway through the first period and Edmonton is beating the hopeless Leafs 3-0.

Big deal, you say - so what else is new?

Well, here's the punchline: The Oilers have scored their THREE goals on FOUR (!!!!!!!!!!) shots. "Big Game Bernier" (ha ha) is having QUITE the night so far. Is a .250 save percentage good?

BTW, with their lowly 4 shots, the Oilers are STILL outshooting the hopeless Leafs, who have THREE shots so far...and since it's not "Big Game Bernier" in the Edmonton net, the Leafs have zero goals on their 3 shots.

The comedy continues...

Look behind you.
I was at the Oiler leafs game last night, friend if mine has seasons tickets in the gold section ( 4 ) business tax write off. Who the hell would pay $295.00 to watch the Oilers play... Anyways the first period was good being an Oiler fan and the rest of the game sucked. Have to say that there were about as many leafs fans as Oiler in the crowd. Noisy group...
Sad to see the amount if people buying jerseys and souvenirs to support a team that sucks so bad for so long with management that does not care.

STN thanks for the update from Edmonton. It is the same in montreal when the Leafs come here. There fans are loyal to a fault. One another note there are some good playoff races going on. Who gets in and who will not. And positioning for home ice advantage.

Quite true. The individual scoring race for the Art Ross is also very interesting this year.
