So today the Scabs signed Alex Semin, the big skilled tough winger that Les Scabitants have been looking for, right? Hahahahahahah this is a guy who might be big and skilled but never shows up and just had a wonderful season in Carolina, scoring a whopping 6 goals and 19 points all for only $7 million.

It's posts like this (along with about 9,064 others) that explain why you got a grade of F on your report card.

This is an EXCELLENT signing. In fact I'm jealous that Detroit didn't do it.

Yeah, Semin just had the worst season of his career...but he had wrist surgery right BEFORE the season. And yeah, he's got a rep for not always giving it 100%...but in spite of that he's a talented player and now seems to be motivated to bounce back. If he does, it's a GREAT move by the Habs (or, in your boring and juvenile attempt at "wit", the "Scabs" - wow, what creativity! What intelligence! What maturity! - NOT!!!!) And if YOUR deepest dreams come true and he bombs out...so what? It's a cheap contract (a million) for only a year. NO risk and huge potential benefit. Then again, you were the guy who loved the Horton, Clarkson, Phaneuf, and Kessel signings...which goes to show how good YOUR judgment is.

Speaking of your beloved hero Kessel - you know, "the future Hall of Famer", "the merging superstar" (sic), "Phil the Thrill" ? Let's compare HIS stats to Semin's:

Semin is bigger (6'2" for Alex, 6'0 for Phil; 209 pounds for Alex, 202 for Phil - unless Phil's been hitting the hot dog stand again)

Semin is tougher, more "truculent" as your other hero Burkie would say: 570 career penalty minutes for Alex, 196 for "The Stick".

Kessel: 668 games played, 247 goals, 273 assists, 520 points. Semin: 635 games played, 238 goals, 275 assists, 513 points.

Guess what, Mr. F Grade? Their offensive stats are remarkably similar, although Alex has a slightly better points per game average...IN SPITE of his last season.

Plus/minus? Hey, glad you asked! Kessel's career plus minus is MINUS 75. Semin's is PLUS 70.

Semin had a 40 goal season - Kessel never did.

Semin compares favorably to your hero Kessel in EVERY way...AND the Habs are paying only a million. The freakin' pathetic Leafs are paying a million and a half for Kessel...even though he now plays for Pittsburgh!

Try signing up at a school where you can learn at least a LITTLE bit about hockey.

You obviously know nothing of Semin. Galchenyuk is a total first-round bust who is delusional about his abilities. PK is a giveaway machine. Hey Balsey, you take time to watch a hockey game one of these days.

Ha ha the season hasn't started and Grandpa Holliday is already at game 50, the season is over, levels of crankiness. :D

Is it because of hockey royalty's season sweep of the Laffs stills stings, or is it because deep down he knows Semin will have a good year and that then 72 year old Lou (or as he refers to him as the Leafs new young whipper snapper GM) will sign him to a Kovalchuk type of contract next summer.

Doc's right ballysydays, watch some hockey once in awhile and not the silliness that is your hero, cairo. No wonder you are a non glorious scabitant fan lol.

Regarding Kovalchuk, EVERYONE knows Lou was against signing him to that contract and it was ownerships decision, but hey nice try buddy ;) That signing set back the devils more than anything the GREAT LOU LAM did.

Ah, ...of COURSE: Now that Lou's with the Leafs, you SUDDENLY defend him. How come you didn't do that during his 28 years with the Devils? Simple answer: because you know squat about hockey and all you have ever done is be a pom-pom waving little cheerleader for every hopeless and braindead move your pathetic Leafs have made during their 48 years of uninterrupted failure.

G1GBallday has more hockey knowledge than you ever will. He also has better writing skills, a superior knowledge of grammar, and a maturity level that doesn't require making fun of a poster's handle in a juvenile and misguided attempt at "wit". When you call him "ballsydays" - in addition to breaking board rules - you are being neither funny nor creative. Rather, you are accurately portraying yourself as someone who lacks the intellectual capacity to put forth a logical argument and who therefore resorts to kindergarten-level name-calling. The only difference is that the kids in kindergarten are usually wittier and more creative.

BTW: since the Leafs charge the highest prices in the league for the absolute worst product in the league, wouldn't it be cheaper for the fans just to make and wear "please kick me" signs instead? (Then again, they're LEAF fans, so logic is completely beyond them.)

If a grade lower than F existed, you would certainly receive it.

P.S.: "dead things" - how very creative (NOT); how very mature (NOT); how very witty (NOT); how very intelligent (NOT); how very original (NOT); how very accurate (NOT); how very Iggy (RIGHT ON!)

I'm currently in Mtl and Bergevin is getting crucified all over the place today for not only signing a lazy russian bum like Semin, but for his total ineptitude all summer long. They're also wondering who will pass the puck to Semin if he's going to get his lazy ass to do anything.
I was home for the last couple of days and did not hear or read any of this .

Good thing for the Red Sox that MLB is not like the Italian Soccer League Seria A, people who follow soccer knows what happens to the worst teams in the league at the end of the season.

For once I agree with Stiffer T. with the "Red Sox" replaced by the "Leafs" and "MLB" replaced by "NHL". The Leafs would have descended to Bantam by now and Captain Python would be getting the remedial skating lessons he so obviously requires.

The Canadians sure do love their Russians. Lets hope the declining skill set of one Alexander Semin continues in the coming season. Even on the scoring challanged Mtl team, he is sure to score more goals than last year, right? I say he scores 7 goals. Better yet i hope to see his version of what he thinks a NHL fight looks like, check out this AWESOME DRUM SOLO he performed on Marc Staal from a few years ago

And...for a more realistic and intelligent analysis of the Semin deal (as well as 3 other interesting ones):

Winners: Detroit (as usual), Pittsburgh (as usual), LA (as usual), Montreal (as usual).

Loser: Toronto (as always)

J. Lemaire with the leafs. Very good hockey mind with the leafs nice catch

Yes, Leaf management now has many good hockey minds. They've stocked up on people with huge ties to three very successful franchises: Detroit, New Jersey, Montreal - three teams that are the antithesis of the horrible and wretched Toronto franchise that is now quickly approaching a complete half century of unmitigated failure and humiliation.

Who's next to join this laughingstock of an organization: Larry Robinson? Scotty Bowman? Steve Yzerman? Nick Lidstrom? Sergei Fedorov? The ghosts of Toe Blake, Jean Beliveau and the Rocket?

Let's face it: this is typical Leaf BS. If Shanny, Babs, Lou, Lemaire, and the rest of the gang are really all such geniuses....then why do they need so many OTHER geniuses to hold their hand? Come on, it's a bit of overkill.

But golly gee, they've got all this "talent" wearing suits and ties...but they've got the usual DIDDLYSQUAT to put on the freakin' ice!

You know, if you want the snow removed from the streets, you don't hire 4000 managers and NO ONE to clear away the freakin' SNOW!

This joke of an organization gets funnier every day. Maybe Shanny has forgotten that when he had success as a PLAYER, it was because he was a good PLAYER and had other good PLAYERS with him - not just 180 million dollars worth of management and a bunch of ZEROES on the ice!

Things are going to get funnier and funnier as the YEARS go by. It's obvious that the leafs DO need Lemaire just in case Lou replaces Babcock if things don't suit Lou.

Lou is getting to old to replace Babcock, so Lou brought in Lemaire or maybe Lou doesn't feel Babcock is up to the rebuild.

Let the soap opera begin.

The only reason I would want a seat on the Leaf bandwagon is so that I could laugh at all the losers who support such a pitiful failure of a franchise. But I would STILL avoid it because I wouldn't want to catch some repulsive disease from any of them. 29 other teams, okay...but the stinkin' Leafs: NEVER!
