And if I read it right, if the N.Y. sweeps (which I hope they don't do ) $500 will be added to his loss.

Well, as W.C.Fields once said, " There is a sucker born every day " and I might add, his name is Holiday. Amen

Holliday's a Leafs fan. Don't worry about him, so he is obviously inured to and enjoys losing.

Seriously, when someone has the balls to post who he is betting on, we shouldn't pile on when he is loses. If I won every sports bet, I would have stopped working long ago.

On the other hand, clowns who claim that they really bet on something other than what they posted after the fact or who proudly proclaim that they are stiffers deserve all the scorn we can muster.

Leafs make top 10 in two categories

I discovered a new sport site which I find interesting. A quick glance revealed that they have put the Leafs in the top 10 in two different categories:

http://www.thesportster.com/hockey/top-15-dumbest-moves-of-the-nhl-offseason/6/

I'm not sure that I agree with this one. If the goal of every hockey player is to have your team score more goals than the opposition when you are on the ice, then it's clear that since Kessel has beem consistently at the bottom of the league for years, that the Leafs should be happy to get rid of him for mere single digit millions (8.4). I actually think that he could be of some use if Pittsburg restricts him to powerplays as, unlike the next player to be mentioned, he certainly has some hockey skills.

It shows my ignorance of hockey history that I didn't realize that they were even worse captains. Pylon only made #4. However, the rest were all at least 20 years ago, so he is #1 now and he is unrivalled for the last generation.

Of course it is MISTER Holliday,

And the more the haters hate the more Leafs Nation :)..... I wonder if a few of the haters ears were ringing last sunday night during our impromptu little gathering with the girls of Chez Paree. The ladies love the Doc!

Congratulations to the Toronto Maple Leafs - A True Dynasty

ESPN recently announced that the Leafs were overwhelmingly identified as the absolute WORST team in North America - not just in hockey, but in all 4 major team sports (hockey, baseball, football, basketball).

The Leafs have now been awarded this prestigious title two years in a row and three of the past four.

Congratulations to the Leafs on their incredible dynasty of ineptitude!

Sorry for this late comment - I was on vacation when the game took place, but it's certainly worth noting that Jeff Blashill took Mike Babcock to school when the Red Wings destroyed the hapless Leafs 4-0.

Talk about the pupil surpassing the teacher: here was a TEXTBOOK example!

BTW, there are those who have called Babcock "the best coach in the world" (well, at least since May 20 - before that, these same individuals called him "The Big Cock" or "The Cock").

Oddly enough "the best coach in the world" currently has a winning percentage of TWENTY PERCENT with his current squad of Leafs. When will the calls start coming to bring back the Great Peter Horachek?

Then again, the Leafs only had one scorer on their team and they shipped him off to Pittsburgh for a wrench and two pairs of pliers, so what can poor old Babs - or even the Great Peter Horachek - do with no players?

Good to have you back, buddy. I hope you had time to rest on your recent vacation. But i see that things haven't changed much. As negative and miserable as always!

No, Holliday - not negative...and DEFINITELY not miserable! A great two-month vacation leaves you feeling very refreshed - you should try it:thumb:

Just because the title of the thread is 'free-for-all' doesn't necessarily mean that you constantly have to take shots at people while using the name of the thread as a shield. Just saying. Your input is welcome, but why does it always have to be sarcastic, negative and always indirectly taking shots at people whose only crime is that they don't cheer for the same team as yours?

Very well said Mister Holliday.

Anyways....... What was the name of that AHL team that played in La Belle Province last night? Montreal steamrolled them and if not for their goalie it easily could have been 10-1.

And yes Doc, the Leafs are still learning Babs Systems and have shown they can hang with any team (except for one bad game so far) and for most games have out played the opposition but have not been rewarded much...hang in their boys, but not too much as the Leafs need another top 5 pick and then the rebuild will be much more advanced and ready for better things in and under the MISTER Mike Babcock Era.

Steamrolled is right! Did you see the first goal scored by Brendan Gallagher?? How the hell was that goal allowed?? Charge into the goalie feet first and hope that the puck will go in?? Unbelievable!! The commentators felt that the Red Wings should have asked for an official review demanding that the goal be disallowed due to interference. But Blashill simply listened to the referee's explanation and barely said a word. Unreal!

As for the Leafs, i'm not worried. Patience is the word this season and the organization is fully committed to a rebuild. I'll miss Kessel, but the team was going nowhere with him last season and he's not doing anything for the Penguins. It's only a matter of time until he and Crosby are split up. By the way, i've been very impressed with Jake Gardiner's play so far and Phaneuf has been much better since he's been giving less ice-time and been told to keep it simple. For me, Matt Hunwick has been a revelation. I now realized why he's been given an 'A' by the coaching staff.

Don't worry Ig: It should be easy to find out the name of that team - they were the same one that destroyed the Leafs 4-0. Happy hunting:thumb:
