Phil Kessel: Held scoreless in 8 of his last 9 games.

24933.gif

Phil Kessel:
2014/2015 salary = 10 million.
Goals in last 9 games = 1.
Assists in last 9 games = 1.
+/- last nine games = -10.

Max Pacioretty:

2014/2015 salary = 4 million.
Goals in last 9 games = 8.
Assists in last 9 games = 3.
+/- in last 9 games = +5.

Now try and guess which organization is Hockey royalty and which is the embarassment to the sport.

Falling Leaves

I have a drastic solution to the Leafs' problem of being contractually obliged to pay a plethora of poor players rich wages for years to come.

Instead of sending them to the usual golf training camp when the playoffs commence, give them all a free trip to Malaysia - on Malaysian Airlines.

Truly Pathetic

According to Sportsnet, the Leafs had the 3 jersey throwers last night arrested!

The Maple Leafs should be ecstatic, not to mention grateful, that anybody would pay $100+ to buy one of their jerseys. So much the better that the jersey tossers didn't demand a refund or complain of fraud as they were they were misled that they were buying the jersey of an NHL team.

Are they such pussies/tattletales that they have to appeal to authorities for a non-violent crime? Did the players have their feelings hurt? Couldn't they have jumped into the stands, taken off their gloves and scratched their tormentors?

However, the punishment is itself a joke. The hurlers were barred from Leafs games for a year.

Exactly.

Typical behavior from a team with no guts and no character.

Remember their gutless EPIC COLLAPSE in game 7 against the Bruins, the one time in the past decade that they even made it into the playoffs?

Remember their total cave-in last season, losing 12 of the last 14 (without even a single loser point) to drop out of a playoff position and into 23rd place in the final standings?

Remember the team's failure to salute Leaf fans a couple of months ago when the poor little players had their feelings hurt again?

Remember Kessel putting down the box of cookies long enough to call a reporter an "idiot" for daring to ask if Mr. Career Minus was a coach-killer?

Remember them losing 6 of their last 7 (and counting!) when they received well-deserved criticism from just about everyone on the planet after Randy got the axe?

And now Nazem and Phil (and probably several others) are all upset because people are throwing Leaf jerseys on the ice.

It's no wonder that the Leafs are not only the worst organization in ALL of North America's professional sports (as officially declared by reputable sports reporters and pollsters), not only have they stunk the joint out on the ice for 48 long years (and counting!) but they CONSISTENTLY exhibit zero class whatsoever.

Pop Quiz

What's the perfect name for Paulina Gretzky & Dustin Johnson's newborn son?

Leaf Johnson because he'll probably play hockey like a girl and be really good at golf.

Leaf apologists, displaying the full extent of their wit, have been calling the Red Wings the "Dead Things".

This, despite the latter making the playoffs every year without exception for more than a generation and the former barely once per ten years.

Is it an exaggeration to say that the GM of Detroit would decline to take the contract of every player of the Leafs, even if no compensation was required? Even if cap space was not an issue, which of Datysuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Abdelkader, Kronwall, Miller, Nyquist, Tatar would you replace with a current Leaf?

Watch out, even though i agree with you, you may be threatened with a suspension for using this term to describe the Red Wings, bro. I love it!

Here's a Politician Who Gets It Right

I'm usually not a fan of politicians but I give FULL MARKS to the Premier of British Columbia, who tweeted:

"Jerseygate? About time! Most Canadians would rather be arrested than put on that jersey."

Gee, THE TEAM THAT BURKE AND NONIS BUILT is quite the squad, isn't it?

I can see why certain Leaf fans have been praising Burke and Nonis (not to mention Kessel, Phaneuf, Clarkson, and many other Leafs) so consistently over the past several years (and often on this very board).

Yep, it's not often that a professional (???????) sports team can provide such great laughter game after game, season after season, decade after decade !

In the post-Randy era the Leafs are now 1 - 7 - 0, with a miserable 2 points out of a possible 16. They've lost 6 in a row (and still counting). This was the ONLY game of those 6 where they scored more than once...but they still lost, as expected by just about everyone (one notable exception being a poster in the Leaf thread, who inaccurately predicted a Toronto victory).

Toronto is now 7th out of 8 in the Atlantic Division, 11th out of 16 in the Eastern Conference, 22nd out of 30 in the League.

But hey Leaf fans, look on the bright side: 22nd overall is one spot HIGHER than you finished last season. Keep up the good work!

As expected, and quite justifiably, many people on NHL.com are carving up the Leafs with comments on their loss to Ottawa.

Here is the BEST so far:

In regards to Kessel's salary: "They pay him by the pound...not the talent."

Thank you Mr. Burke:thumb: Thank you Mr. Nonis:thumb:
