Phil Kessel, Superstar
In Tuesday's latest Leaf loss (4-3 to Nashville), our hero had zero goals, zero assists, zero points. He registered a single lonely shot. He was minus one. He had one giveaway.
"Toronto's best player" (??????????????) now has 45 points in 52 games and is minus 15 on the season, which is currently 787th in the league in that department. His shooting percentage - and remember, folks, this is a one-dimensional player who is paid $8 million a year to do nothing but score, and who will continue to be paid that amount by the Leafs for many years to come, due to his long-term contract - is 11.6%, which is currently 173rd in the league.
Career stats: 638 games played, 242 goals, 262 assists, 504 points, MINUS 56 (and counting!). Despite what some Leaf fans have recently written, these are NOT Hall of Fame numbers.
To show that we are merciful, we won't even mention the Tyler Seguin comparison numbers!
"Thank you Mr. Burke." "Thank you Mr. Nonis."
