They don't care. The only award they really care about is Mike Babcock, who can't wait to leave the shittiest city in North America.

The Leafs also wanted Chiarelli but either they blew it (as usual) or he blew them off, not wanting any part of them (also as usual).

Of course they don't care. They don't care about you, the fan, nor do they care if Mike Babcock coaches them.

Hell, they are out of the city playing golf.

As far as Mike Babcock, this is a quote from him, " I like to win, in fact, I like to win a lot. " This has not been

the leafs chant for 48 years and counting.

Watch for more of this, as they wait and see for that illusive saviour, who ever it may be, poor fella.

Look behind you.
Got the inside scoop on Babcock signing with the Leafs, nothing to do with the 50 million it was that he was getting older and they promised him every spring off.
Source was a anti-Leaf friend of mine.

Using 17th century technology, the Taj Mahal was built in 11 years, coincidentally the same number of years the Leafs have been rebuilding. Now their new coach says that many years of more rebuilding pain are upon them. Is this a marketing ploy to secure the Leafs' core market, the masochists?

There is no religion with as many saviours the Leafs have had in that number of years - the monster (Gustavsson), Burke, Carlyle, Shanahan, Clarkson....

Now they are putting some very expensive lipstick on a pig. Can Babcock teach a pylon to skate or the leader from the bottom of the +/-, the sure future HOF, Kessel to back check?

Given that Babs just signed a $50 million dollar contract, I don't know how more plainly he could have said that the entire team imbibes hippo testicles than by opining that years of pain are to follow. Here's some free advice for him: As I have stated before: The quickest way to blow up the team is to send them on a golf vacation to Malaysia on, of course, Malaysian Airlines.

According to the Leaf apologists on this board, Burke and mini-Burke (Nonutts), did a great job. Why then is it necessary to rebuild after a half dozen years of their expert stewardship?

You heard it here first: Babs will not finish the term of his contract in TO. He will become just another of the legion of those paid not to perform for the Leafs. Armstrong, Randy Carlyle, Frattin, Horton, Nonis, Scrivens, Tucker are not doing anything for the Leafs but are getting some or all of their renumeration from the Leafs. (It could be argued that Kessel and Captain Pylon should be added to that list.)

This is a near excellent move by the Leafs. As you brilliantly pointed out it's all about pain. To get there you need to build the highest hopes so the crash will be bigger. Among these fans that have gotten more and more immune to pain it's getting tougher to find that big crash. The huge $50 million signing of Babcock with the cachet of having been a Stanley Cup and Olympic Champion will rekindle the great expectation HIGH that brings back the bliss of their masochistic crash. It's getting tough to do that after 48 years.

It's only too bad the Leafs didn't sign someone who could mold their greatest natural skills into true championship caliber. But then again Arnold Palmer is a little up there is years.

Cheers,

Merlot

Good time to buy shares in Koolaid: a lot has been sold in the past 5 days and the usual gang of gullible saps will probably continue drinking it...at least until around February of 2016. Then, as usual, they'll disappear and start thinking about golf.

"Thank you Mr. Burke." "Thank you Mr. Nonis."

From the baseball thread:
Now if you knew anything about the game of baseball, then you'd know that EVERY team is represented at the ASG. You should probably stick to hockey. ;)

What makes you think that Doc Holiday knows anything about hockey? He actually thinks that the Leafs are a hockey (not a golf) team and even more incredibly, year after year, predicts that they will make the NHL playoffs. Even Charlie Brown became wary of trying to kick the football.
