Kenosha WI would definitely be a better place if they had a democrat mayor or governor. Oh wait, they do :)

it is horrible what happened to the man. We don’t have all the details yet but I find in poor taste that some are blaming him while others are linking this to the president.

We should all strive to live a better, more respectful life, to help our community and take care of the people around us. Reducing crime is the only way to really reduce police funding!

I submit a situation to you:
An organization requests permission to use something that belongs to someone.
Permission is refused.
So said organization decides to give a damn about having permission, and decides to use what has been denied, and that twice rather than once.

It's unacceptable.

Well that's exactly what happened at the Republican convention.

Trump's organization requested permission from Leonard Cohen's succession to use his song Halleluiah, the succession flatly refused. So Trump said we play it anyway and do that twice, without paying copyright. The succession is suing Trump.

Trump doesn't respect anything especially when it comes to his re-election.

This has been happening almost every election:

They almost never sue (the leonard cohen estate is saying they are thinking about suing, since when is that news) because it is a waste of time unless people made money from playing your content and can’t claim fair use or other exceptions.

Also, inconsistent enforcement can at times lead to unideal outcomes in intellectual property.

What makes musicians really happy? Posturing and virtue signalling :)

What makes money people behind musicians really happy? Longer copyright and they got that from the Trump admin this year.

Around the corner
It is just a BS way to put their songs in the news for a while longer and gain some free publicity.
It is always about $$$ in the end.

What’s funny about a Reagan using the Bruce Springsteen’s song “Born in the USA“ is that it’s not a pro American song, just the opposite.

Here is a list of singers, musical groups (or their sucessions) who have refused Trump's organization to use their creations.

Neil Young, REM, Aerosmith, Adele, Elton John, Queen, Earth Win & Fire, The O'Jays, Rihanna, Linkin Park, The Beatles, Georges Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Twisted Sister, Pharell williams, Guns N'Roses ( Axl Rose), Nickelback, Prince, Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen.

Yes these are all people who need a lot of visibility to publicize their musical creations, and yes the majority are poor.

I don’t allow musicians to influence how I vote. If I did I would only be allowed to listen to country music. Musicians and actors have no idea how the real world operates. So the dems can have all the musicians and actors they want, their opinions mean nothing IMHO.

Yes in country music there are surely some good songs, and I know that in your country, country music is very popular, but if you just listen to that, you are missing 90% of the very good musical creation, everywhere.

Good for you, but that's not what I think.

Culture is very important.

Oh yeah, there's Kainey West supporting Trump with his music, and surely it's not because of the money ;)

I didn’t say I listened to country music, I said if I allowed musicians to influence my vote I would have to only listen to country. I listen to classic rock and heavy metal.

This is totally correct.
Never heard of a popular actor or singer constantly craving more publicity and wanting to stay in the limelight forever.
Never heard of a rich man wanting more money either.
Actors and singers are the people that live in the real world and we should hold them up as shining examples and follow their lead.

This is the Dems champion to dethrone Trump? If that is the best I would hate to see second choice.

Why are these bozos even trying to give speeches? I’m left speechless each time I watch the highlights
Biden’s camp should be smarter than that ... it should be obvious by now that whoever gives less speeches or keeps them short will be better off and eventually improve their chances of winning the elections ... when it comes to Biden and Trump less is more without a doubt

Police violence: Blacks are three times more likely to die than whites when arrested.

In Minneapolis, the black population suffocates under the weight of economic and social inequalities.
The median income of black households is less than half that of white households (43.4%). Their unemployment rate (10.3%) is three times higher than that of whites (3.6%) and the rate of homeowners three times lower (25.4% against 75.3%).
Blacks are 8.7 times more likely to be arrested for minor offenses and account for 60% of those killed by police between 2000 and 2018.
And yet, according to a Reuters study of 3,000 complaints of misconduct against the Minneapolis Police Force between 2012 and 2020, 9 out of 10 did not result in any disciplinary action.
That says it all.
One more stat: According to the FBI, Black males are 6% of the population and they commit 55% of violent crimes. As a result, they have more run ins with the law.

The Washington post said that 15 unarmed black men and something like 27 unarmed white men were shot by the police.

Maybe one difference is that if a white ne’er-do-well fights with and disarms and tases police while fighting with them when they wake him up drunk in a Wendy’s drive through and is shot by the police, no one in the white community would give a shit. Good riddance they would say to that guy who was doing time for child cruelty and kidnapping. But when a black man is shot, it’s time to get a free TV and it’s fun to burn down the neighborhood. Also, it’s time for white woke liberal woman in their LuLu Lemons to “feel good” by shouting in the face of a cop wearing riot gear. Way to use that liberal arts degree from the school of Social Sciences. You go girl.

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- President Donald Trump during a trip to North Carolina on Wednesday appeared to encourage voters to try to vote twice to make sure the system is working properly.

If I understamp:

Trump is telling his supporters that they have to commit voter fraud in order to prevent voter fraud.

This is serious, Trump is desperate.

^^^^^ Trying to prove a point

Well, I don't know exactly what he was saying," Barr said. "But it seems to me what he's saying is he's trying to make the point that the ability to monitor this system is not good and if it was so good, if you tried to vote a second time, you would be caught if you voted in-person

This is serious, Trump is desperate.

Democrats are doing the same by insisting on mass mailing for votes.

It's a felony in the USA to recommend voter fraud and the defense of "I was only joking" would be as laughable as someone who attempts to excuse shouting "Fire" in a crowded theater.

Can you honestly say that you wouldn't be apoplectic if one of the Squad had said the exact same words as Putin's Orange Puppet?

That’s a stretch. Not even close. It’s clear the president wasn’t saying to go out and commit voter fraud.
