My dear Mr. F. Moron,

A couple of things. First, Santana's not coming to Boston by no means "clear sailing" for the Yankees. If neither team makes the Twins an offer they'll accept, he'll be staying in Minnesota.

Item 2. The General Managers of the Sox and Twins are named Smith and Epstein, not Santana and Ortiz. The fact that Santana and Ortiz are buddies only means that he's less likely to refuse the trade.

Item 3. It's generally believed that the Twins will, after the first of the year, ask both clubs to make their best and final offer. If the current offers on the table remain the final ones, it's believed that Smith will accept the Sox offer, which is generally regarded to be a better one.

Item 4. The underground tunnel between Minnesota and Boston which so far has ushered Ortiz, Moss, and Garnett to the "City of Champions" is still open for business.

Yah and pigs fly:rolleyes:, looks to me like Santana would rather be a Yankee than a Red Sox, at least that's the way I read it nitwit friend of mine.:)

This from Joel Sherman of the NY Post, from today's paper: "Yet, according to multiple executives spoken to yesterday, the Red Sox remain the strong favorite to obtain the star lefty if - and probably more likely, when - he is traded in the new year."

Since I'm not a fucking moron, I'll withhold the popping of the cork until further notice.

It has been brought to my attention that since the third game of the American League Championship Series, the Boston clubs in the three major sports are a combined 50-3.

Just place my spring order with Amazon and thought I'd share it here:
Baseball Prospectus 2008: The Essential Guide to the 2008 Baseball Season
Baseball America 2008 Prospect Handbook: The Comprehensive Guide to Rising Stars from the Definitive Source on Prospects
The Bill James Gold Mine 2008
Rob Neyer's Big Book of Baseball Legends: The Truth, the Lies, and Everything Else

As for Joe.T, these might be a bit dense for you. You might want to consider the following:

I used to buy all sorts of magazines/books.I find that they are outdated by the time the season starts. also it could be costly when all added up.

There are so many free websites you could use that would help you more when it comes down to start your draft.
Tex, if you're looking for information to aid you in your fantasy draft, you're quite right; the spring rags are not nearly as valuable as they used to be. The information you're looking for is not just talent, but opportunity. In fantasy, information such as how much playing time will a guy get, will a guy get save opportunities, and the like is often outdated before the rags go to press.

The books I'm referring to are for the baseball fan who is not looking for the latest fantasy information. You want to know who the 25 best prospects in the TO system are? BA's Prospect Handbook is the place to go and the information will not be out of date. The book will not tell you how much playing time these guys are going to get.

BP is, by very far, the best source of baseball information on the planet. If you're a fantasy player, you REALLY want to subscribe to their website.

The baseball threads here on merb have never really paid much attention to fantasy. Mostly they've been about picking on various Yankee fans.:D Welcome to the show, Tex.

tex- Is the CBS league free? and if so when can I sign up because there is a solid chance that I will take it this year.:p

Notice how they have the soon to be Yankee Santana as the top rated pitcher in all of baseball.

Early prediction- American league CY Young for 2008- Joba Chamberlain.:)

God, how I love consistency.:D Joe, you're like the sun in the morning.

BTW, did you read the Daily News article this morning where Hankenstein says the Yankees aren't interested in Santana?

Mostly likely landing spot appears to be the Mets.

2008 Merb Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League?

Anyone interested? We can use Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Plus which is $125 for the league, charge $25 per team with a max of 12 teams. Winner take all ($175) or 1st-3rd breakdown. I'm experienced in being a commissioner for many leagues.

OK, OK, I'll play. I just LOOOOVE Joe's money. I've actually had a girl ask me, "Is this Joe's money? It's my favorite kind."

How is this league run, K? Rotisserie? Point? Head-to-head? AL or mixed? Live draft or list? Fucking moron friendly?

Oh, one other thing. Since Joe inhabits his own little fantasy world, does he have an unfair advantage?

It's very moron friendly, all you need is a Yahoo ID...Head to head, mixed league. Live online draft at a time tbd. Using the following categories.

Batting: R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, CS, BB, K, GIDP, E, AVG, OBP,

Pitching: IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, H, ER, HR, BB, K, GIDP, ERA, WHIP

We can adjust the categories or keep them as is.

BTW, should we start a new thread or just keep this one and see who bites?
