Joba pitches a perfect game-

Rookie superstar phenom Joba Chamberlain pitched a perfect game today, he did it with a assortment of pitches, slider, off speed and fastball, he said after the game that...................:)

Well, terrible news about Ortiz and a possible operation. Maybe the Tankers could have a chance in hell after all with the greatest terror of the last 5-6 years out of the game for a while. Ooops, maybe not. Sloppy Joba Chamberlain didn't make it out of the third inning, being very shaky, giving up 4 walks in 2.1 innings. Hmmmm, another awesome prediction by my sweet little genius Josey.

Joba Chamberlain shaky in debut as Blue Jays roll over Yankees 9-3

NEW YORK - Joba Chamberlain struggled with his control, walked off the mound in the third inning and threw his glove in the dugout.

His first major league start was a memorable one, all right. Just not for the reasons he'd hoped. Chamberlain lasted 2 1-3 innings and Roy Halladay held the New York Yankees in check despite some control problems of his own, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a 9-3 victory on Tuesday night.

And there i was thinking this would be a close game.

A-Rod Juiceless?????

Season & Career Year
AB R H HR RBI BB K AVG 2008
Season 143 24 42 8 23 15 29 .294
On Pace 399 67 117 22 64 42 81 .294
Career 7493 1525 2292 526 1526 930 1553 .306

Hello all,

I was checking to see how many career home runs A-Rod had compared to Manny and I found this. He isn't producing half of the stats he did last year. No I am not accusing him of having been juiced in the past. But with production around the league way down right after the Clemens episode, according to news reports, it sure is a big coincidence. One has to wonder if hitters are just having a tough year or if some are worried about being the next Clemens. So what's up with A-Rod? Even Youkilis has more home runs (9) than him. Is A-Rod hurting, relaxing after his contract year, or something else???

Curious,

1. He is coming off a career year which is what you are comparing his stats to and which is really silly, it would be like comparing the Pats 18-0 record of last
year to the 8-8 record that they will have this year.:p

2. He was injured and out of the line up for almost three weeks.

now you can go back to bed.

Hey Josey,

You are saying comparing A-Rod to A-Rod is "silly"??? Who else should he be able to measure up to but himself. So he was injured for three weeks. His stats are still very low even considering that. Did you see the projection for 399 at bats? Adjusting to the fewer at bats compared to last year he should still be able to hit for: 92 Runs, 100 RBI, 35 HR. Current projections are no where near this. And, don't give me that "career year" bull. If he is worth the money then he should earn it every year. I don't think that's too much to expect if he is worth $28,000,000 a year.

Sleepy time Josey,

Scary shit isn't it.
Scary indeed. I'd be scared shitless if my team had to depend on this collection of stiffs. Funny how you left out the team's most effective pitcher at the moment.

Wang couldn't retire my Aunt Gertrude.

Yes, both good picks, however, high school picks always carry big question marks, especially pitchers. No higher risk grab than a high school pitcher.

The problem that the Yankees have with Cole is that a) he's already committed to attend UCLA and b) he's a client of Scott Boras. Sure they can sign him, but they're going to have to open the vault to do so and then pray that he develops and stays healthy.

As for Kelly, I'll wait a couple of years before I get excited about him.

What makes the draft different for the Sox and Yankees is that they grab players who should have been taken earlier in the draft but dropped because of the anticipated expense of signing them. Just another way the Sox and Yankees use their financial muscle.

Manny & Yuke nearly come to blows in dugout

BOSTON -- Tempers were flaring all over Fenway Park last night. And it wasn’t just the Sox versus the Rays.

There also was a little Sox-versus-Sox dugout action, with Kevin Youkilis and Manny Ramirez getting into a heated verbal battle that forced teammates, coaches and trainers to separate the duo.

The intramural strife occurred after the bottom of the fourth, in which Boston had tallied three runs for a 7-1 lead. Two of the runs came on a single by Ramirez.

Whatever prompted the issue, Tim Wakefield and trainer Tim Lessard forcefully escorted Ramirez away from Youkilis.Youkilis and Ramirez, who trained together in the offseason in Arizona, had some sort of disagreement, but no details are known.Youkilis and Ramirez were unavailable for comment.

“We had a lot of testosterone going on tonight,” manager Terry Francona said. “It wasn’t that big a deal.Ramirez didn’t make it through the game, apparently aggravating his tight right hamstring and leaving for a pinch runner in the seventh.

6-6 today, with the game winning hit! Too bad he can't reach 2nd base when making a throw from CF though. :p

Congratulations to the Wankies, with a remarkable (20000 to 1, against at least) performance by Johnny Damon, for once again reaching their pinnacle (mediocrity 31 - 31) and maintaining a pace which will only put them, as I predicted here weeks ago, 10 games behind Boston by the All Star break.

I have a question, Shmo T. Relative to the Yakkies pitching staff, is Petite better or worse than average?

I will let Joba(AKA Roger Clemens jr) Chamberlain answer that question tomorrow for you, the real question is what do the Yankees do with their other phenom(Hughes) when he comes back from the DL, I think that he would make a great middle relief guy and that is where he just might be heading, Hughes in the eighth and lights out Rivera in the ninth just might be the perfect combination(very interesting scenerio).

Wager? ........

Shameless Joe (also Shoeless Joe at the end of the season after paying off all your Wankers bets), are you asking for a 3.5 game spot with barely 15 to the All Star break????

Here's my offer: The Yankees are behind the Red Sox by 6.5 now. If, at the All Star Break, they close to 3 or less, you win. On the other hand, if they are 10 or more down at the All Star Break, I win. Push at the AS break, if the Yankees are between 3.5 and 9.5 games down (inclusive).

Since the Red Sox have lost 2 of their leading players, I only offer a 100 wager, barely enough for an Oliver Pavement Princess Special.

If you wish to confirm, do so before tomorrow's game starts. (Monday, June 9th).
