And the lead rises again. The Bronx Bumblers, it seems, were shut out for six innings by a pitcher with a 7.14 ERA. Johnny Damon did get his first hit in a week, raising his average to .234. He now trails Coco by a seemingly insurmountable .031. His lead over Lugo is now less than 10 points after yet another 3 hit game for the Sox shortstop. And, by the way, in the last week Coco Crisp has four times as many triples as Johnny Damon has hits.
The Yankees really have no excuse for not sweeping a day night doubleheader with the hapless Rays today. The Rays start game one with a pitcher with a 6.11 ERA. With the Yankees countering with their mega-million Japanese star, Kei Igawa about whom it was once written by a noted scribe:
The Rays run another gem out in game two in JP Howell, he of the 6.62 ERA. That's nearly a full run better than that of the formerly immortal Matt DeSalvo, his opponent.
An easy sweep for the Yankees, no?

What happened to Damon and your prediction for 8 Yankee wins together with simultaneous 8 Red Sox loses. Both drowning in the swamp...huh. Damon is rock steady at .234, and the Devil Rays, of all teams, sent the body of the Yankees to the morgue last night. But at least your top nine salaried players won't lose their billions because of a little...14-4 ANNIHILATION...lol! And with your stalwart Mussina pitching too...SAD!

A huge day for Coco. 3-4 with 5 rbi. He's now up to a near acceptable .271, nearly .040 above the corpse of Johnny Damon. It looks like the bats are back.

A lot has to do with the direction of the wind. If the wind is in Wakefield's face, he's usually unhittable. If it's at his back, it can flatten out the knuckler.Robert 21 said:
