In the case of the Yankees,Rumples seems to be interested only in upward adjustments omitting all downward adjustments. Not a very objective approach.
In the case of all teams, Rumples is only interested in a clear discussion of public figures disclosed by MLB. Rumples is not particularly interested in muddling the discussion over numbers that are not public and which we will never have access to. Mr. Tiresome is more than welcome to his own confusion; I'll pass.

The Yankees are receiving $7,000,000 from Texas to pay Alex Rodriguez. They are sending $4,000,000 to Baltimore to pay Jaret Wright, $3,000,000 to Chicago to pay Javier Vazquez, and $2,000,000 to Arizona to pay Randy Johnson. The net is $2,000,000 going out.

But this doesn't change the simple fact that the Yankees opening day payroll was $189,639,045 with some $18,000,000 added by the signing of Roger Clemens. One can try to confuse the issue as much as one chooses, but them's the facts.

It is an undisputable part of baseball history that Jackie Robinson played in Montreal for the Royals in 1946. Also undisputable is the fact that Delormier Stadium was located on the northeast corner of Delormier and Ontario, explaining the name.

What board pseudo expert posted that Delormier Stadium was located at the corner of Papineau and Ontario? If the reader guessed Rumples then they are 100% correct. Rumples definitely knows confusion.

Cashman is much smarter than that. Let A- Rod go saving the Yankees $51 million in salary and the Rangers $30 million in salary. Then move a player or two from the Yankees overpaid group to Texas for prospects in a fashion that sees Texas apply a good part of the $30 million to cover the Yankees contractual obligations.
I'd love to respond to this, but I can't figure out what this man is trying to say. Cashman has no control over whether or not A-Rod opts out of his contract. How did Texas get into the conversation? Overpaid players to Texas? What does that mean? What overpaid Yankees could Texas possibly want? Why would Texas move prospects to the Yankees? Huh???? WTF???

Why would Texas even get involved? Texas would love nothing more than to see A-Rod opt out as it would save them some $27 M.

What is this poor confused man saying? Thinking?

What Cashman said is that, if A-Rod opts out, a foregone conclusion according to most insiders, the Yankees will not get involved in the bidding which will likely get up to $30 M per year, with the Red Sox, Angels, Mariners, and possibly Cubs most likely involved.

So what, then, is Cashman smarter than?

I love this poor confused individual. I did make a factual error here a while ago and this poor miserable tiresome individual comes back to it again and again. Guess what, Mr. Confused. It wasn't the first time I erred and won't be the last. You actually make me look pretty good if this is all you can hang your hat on, month after month.

BTW, what I meant to write originally was not Papineau, but Parthenais, which happens to be correct.

Simple Rumples - Texas would have $30 million over three years to apply to other salaries instead of paying part of A-Rod's salary.

Previously you posted how the Yankees are paying $2 million towards Randy Johnson's Arizona salary. Obviously Arizona had salary dollars to take most of Randy Johnson's salary.

Similarly Texas would have additional salary dollars since they would no longer be paying part of A-Rod's Yankee salary creating space that Cashman could target as a home for someone by structuring a deal similar to the Randy Johnson situation.

So you're suggesting that the Yankees let A-Rod go and then ask Texas to compensate them for their savings?

First off, you're suggesting that the Yankess have power in this matter. Try telling that to Scott Boras.

Secondly, the core of the Yankees talent is either young players, Derek Jeter, and Hideki Matsui. They ain't dealing Matsui or Jeter. The Yankees don't control Posada, Rivera, Pettitte after this year.

That leaves the likes of Damon, Igawa, Farnsworth, Mussina ($11 M option), Abreu ($16M option) and Giambi. Why on god's green earth would Texas want any of these (save perhaps Mussina) and what would ever possess them to part with prospects in return?

Jon Daniels did an excellent job of building for the future at the trading deadline. He's way too smart to take on any of the Yankees' detritus.

Another terrible performance by Gagne, i don't know what the fuck was Terry thinking, with the game on the line and and a sweep all but guaranteed he puts in the guy who has sucked terribly, this game gets my vote for mismanagement of the year game, way to go Terry you fucked up moron and keep up the good work by putting Gagne in there when the game is on the line and you just might play yourself out of the playoffs and if they do miss the playoffs(real possibility) they should remember this game in particular.

EB did you catch any foul balls my good man?, you lucky bastard you got to watch Pettitte pitch a gem of a game in person and if you think that was a gem wait untill you see what Roger does today, i smell a shutout.:)

Hello Joe. T,

I am very sorry. Geeeeeez I have been so darn slow that I am ashamed of myself. I just realized...you are a used car salesman. No wonder you are so outrageous and shameless in your "predictions". But first let's clarify. You do mean Clemens will pitch a shutout??? Of course you do. If Clemens pitches a shut out, or even shuts the other team out for at least seven full innings I will lay off you and call you the great god of baseball knowledge for a week...every day.

Don't count on it.,

joe.t,

No foul balls hit in my direction. It was a bit of a nightmare getting to Yankee Stadium last night. I left my office at 3:00 p.m. and what normally would be a 1 hour drive turned into a 2 hour, 45 minute traffic gridlock nightmare. My buddy and I finally got to the Stadium parking lot @ 5:45 p.m. If anyone is ever travelling to Yankee Stadium from Connecticut, my recommendation would be to completely avoid driving to the Stadium and take Metro North railroad to the 125th street station in Harlem and then catch the subway that goes to Yankee Stadium. If you must drive take the Hutchinson Parkway to I-87 south (Deegan Expressway), and the stadium is exit 6, Joe Torre's number. Avoid I-95 because especially on a Friday night, you have to deal with the dreaded George Washington Bridge backup.

I ended up buying a sausage & peppers grinder from one of the numerous vendors outside the Stadium. This guy was selling something called "Premio" sausage and although it costed me the expected ripoff $7.50, it was actually quite tasty.

At the Stadium, a 12 ounce coors beer will cost you $8.00, a decent sized bag of crackerjacks is $5.50, 20 ounce bottled coke is $4.50 and 24 ounce bottled water is $4.50.

Inside the stadium at my buddy's urging I ordered something called "Dippin Dots" Ice Cream. I had never seen or heard of it before. It looks like frozen little tiny balls of ice cream that seem ultra-frozen. The "Dippin Dots" are served in your choice of a Yankees batting helmet for $6.00 or a cup for $5.00. I ordered mine in the helmet and then gave it to my buddy so he could give it to his son. I got mint chocolate, my buddy had cookies & cream. There are about 7 or 8 different flavors of "Dippin Dots." They also sell carvel ice cream, both the hard and soft varieties.

I saw scores of hot looking women at Yankee Stadium. My buddy thinks that the "babe quotient" (BQ) is 1 in 4 and he may not be far off in this estimate. My buddy has a theory that Yankee Stadium is a magnet for young single babes, both for cultural reasons and because the Yankees, with the notable exceptions of Matsui and Duncan who are both kinda ugly, have a very good looking team. All these young girls were wearing the jerseys of Jeter (most popular), A-Rod (very popular with hispanic ladies), Abreu, and Posada. Giambi's jersey was also very popular, although he was being heckled by a male fan in back of me for much of the game. Also saw some hispanic ladies with Melky Cabrera and Cano jerseys.

The game itself was most enjoyable, our seats were great (front row of upper deck), it seemed like foul balls were getting hit into upper deck on the first base side but not on my side which was off third base. The only problem was we could not see what happened to balls hit in the left field corner and had to watch the scoreboard replay.

The scoreboard flashed the pitch counts of each pitcher and the MPH and type of each pitch (fastball, slider, curve, etc.). I noticed that Robertson's pitch count was driven over 100 before the 5th ending was over. Those who understand the sport know that Verlander and Robertson in their next starts which could be next weekend against the Yankees will be coming off very high pitch count games.

After a great 8 inning outing by Pettite, Joba Chamberlain came in and pitched a scoreless 9th inning. He hit 100 mph with 3 pitches that I saw and was consistently 99-100 mph with his fastball. Pudge Rodriguez looked severely overmatched in the at bat that ended the game.

On the scoreboard it was also flashed that Gagne had given up 3 earned runs to lose the game to the Angels.

Traffic coming out of the Stadium was pretty fucking brutal. I finally got home at 1:30 a.m.

Poor Rumples is confused again. Compensation never entered the picture nor was it suggested.

The Yankees need to create roster spots for their young pitchers.

The Padres were interested in Igawa but that deal fell thru. Lefties seem to find takers. Farnsworth has worn-out his welcome in NY but a healthy pitcher with a 28 - 75 walk - strike-out ratio, more than 1k per inning will find a home somewhere.

A team like Texas has some interesting choices in this regard. Do you rush some of your young pitching prospects before they are ready and advance their "free agency" clock costing yourself major league roster time and money down the road or do you go with a "bridge" solution that allows your prospects to develop and delays their "free agency".

Never said quality prospects.Just some that would fill minor league slots so that your own do not have to be rushed upwards to fill a need.

BTW nice to see that you acknowledge the value of Derek Jeter.

Chamberlain and Hughes are already on the roster. Kennedy is the only young pitcher with any chance of making the roster before 2009. Finding a roster spot for him won't be difficult as they have any number of middle relievers not returning, Pettitte possibly not returning. It has become quite prevalent for teams to break their young pitchers in with a year of middle relief and this is probably advisable in Kennedy's case.

As for my being confused, absolutely. When dealing with prose as muddled as yours and thought processes even more so, confusion is easy to come by. I still have no clue what you're original post re: Cashman was about. Nothing you've said made the slightest bit of sense.

Glad You Enjoyed...........

EB,

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Yankee Stadium last night.

Your report fails to mention anything about the bear situation in the area.
Could you expand on this topic.

Hello all,

At yankers stadium you can reminisce about FABULOUS times. Look to home plate where David Oritz crushed yankers pitching to seal three ALCS games for the Sox. There is the mound where the Homeric Curt Schilling fought through the pain of surgery to stifle the billionaire boys. Stroll along the front row seats on each side of the park where dozens of police had to guard the park from thousands of yankers fans dealing with the reality of LOSING. Run across first base where a cheap childish A-Rod was caught attempting to cheat, and dream of slapping him. Slide into second base and remember the steal at Fenway where Dave Roberts beat the throw and started the Sox on their epic comeback. Stand by the right field foul pole which Mark Bellhorn struck like thunder and rattled every nerve in yankerdom including Steinboner's anus. Visit the centerfield seats where Johnny Damon sent his grand slam to crush yankers hopes by finishing the greatest comeback ever. Sit in the yankers dugout where thousands of Sox fans danced and sang the song of ultimate vcitory..."who's your Papi...who's your Papi"....for hours and hours. AND...if you are lucky, get an autograph from Johnny Damon himself as he collects about 13,000,000 while currently hitting a paltry .256.

Oh the memories,

Korbel

Unhittable he certainly was. Heck, he only allowed 10 hits, which is a good day for the fat redneck. What I saw was an exhibition in the art of throwing BP.

Today is a red letter day for Roger Clemens, having finally reached the coveted .500 mark.

Hello Joe. t,

Wow...that's just awesome. You mean Clemens might just make it to .500 for the $28,000,000 he is getting paid (pro-rated of course)...lol. SO...where's the shutout Mr. Baseball Wizard??? WRONG AGAIN! Hey Mr. Wizard...10 hits is not exactly "unhittable"...duh. You sound like a 13 year old who just fell in love with his right hand....and wants to marry it.

Bronx cheers,

Hey korbie did you watch Clemens put on a awesome display of pitching today, he was named Cheverlot player of the game, pretty impressive dont you think considering that he was only pitching against the second best hitting team in all of baseball, earlier in the thread some pretty smart guy predicted a strong performance by Clemens today.:)

Some fucking moron predicted a shutout. Some fucking moron was wrong. If this is your idea of a strong performance, suddenly every review you've ever posted on this board is called into question.
