Hello Rumples, Special K,

"You know what happens in August"...lol. Well, on August 21, 2007 the New York Yankees were getting rocked by the Angels 12-5 in just the third inning. It's early but it's looking like one of those nights when you might want to hide under your pillow if you happen to be a Yankers fan. Hey, try to remember what Berra said: "it ain't over till it's over". BUT, it sure sucks right now.

Sweet nightmares Yankers,

Korbel

UPDATE:

G. Anderson hits a grand slam to make it 18-5 and the shell-shocked Yankers are coming up in the 7th. It may not be over till it's over, but it's a freaking MONSTER DISASTER at this moment. Mr. Jack Daniels anyone...wheeeew.

Here's a funny side note: TCM is playing: "The Pride of the Yankees". What irony is that tonight.

Did he jinx them last weekend when he went to see them in NY? :D

p.s. Last night's game against 10-RBI man Garrett Anderson & the Angels was one of the most satisfying games i've seen this year! Way to go Angels!

On May 17, the Yankees fell to 9.5 games behind the Red Sox. They then quickly spiked to 14.5 games back, and just as quickly climbed back to 9.5 by June 10. Today they trail by 6. Were it not for the Great Gagne Giveaway, the Yankees would be just as far back today as they were on May 17.

Yes, folk, despite their spending the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks in August bottom-feeding on the detritus of the American League, the only ground the Yanks have gained in the last three months is the result of the generosity of Tito Francona.

Today, as the Yanks fade in the west, the most likely outcome of tonight’s action having them fall yet another game behind, the question one must ask is how many HDH hours could Brian Cashman have purchased with the $210,000,000 he wasted fielding his trainwreck of a ball club.

Hello Doc,

Slaughters don't make very good television, but oh how sweet it is to see the mighty Yankee legend get another huge hole blasted into it as they went down in flames.

Six games is nice Rumples. I thought the Sox might get back 2 or 3 games before they faced the Yankers. Getting back 2 in 2 nights is so delicious. But it's early and we have a chance for a lot more...hehehehe. As for...Da Beav...can't wait for one of his BITTER posts. AND...how are you doing this fine morning Joe. t???

Sweeeeeet,

Korbel

When i first turned on the tv, i thought i had turned it on the wrong channel & had it on the Silver Screen channel & they were showing the classic Erroll Flynn movie "They Died with Their Boots On", which ended with the massacre at Little Big Horn.

Hello Doc,

LOVE IT...LOL! Yes, I know the movie very well. But for me I wondered why some guy on the little hill in the middle of a huge crowd wearing funny pinstripes was throwing skeet. Throw... BANG...throw... BANG...throw... BANG!!! I should also rephrase what I said to: sports massacres aren't very good for network profits, but they do make FUN television ...when you are on the FUN side of it.

BANG!

After watching last night's Yankees game, i got the urge to relax tonight & watch the great "Saving Private Ryan" movie. For some reason, the D-Day scenes during the first half hour of the movie kept coming to mind last night. I wonder why?

Hello Doc,

I may watch the classic "Animal House" tonight. That scene where Kevin Bacon and others are being initiated into the fraternity by getting on their fours and saying: "thank you sir, may I have another" summarizes the Yankers bashing and the entire Yankers fan experience last night extremely well. Oh you want some of this huh Joe.t...WHACK, WHACK...lol!

Happy blisters,

Korbel

I am going to have to agree with Kevin Hench on this one, and you might as well as add Gagne and Crisp to the list.
While Drew has certainly been a bust, there is a long history of NL players taking a year to adjust to the AL. One can still hope for next year.

As for Crisp, while his offense is not what we'd like it to be, when combined with his Gold Glove® caliber defense, Crisp is an elite center fielder.

And Demon? Well, if the Yankees toss in $6-8 M per year, they might be able to find somebody to remove the stench of his corpse from the Big Ballyard in the Bronx.

Good day, great day???

Hello guys,

Beckett got out of trouble and the Sox bombed the White Sox in the first game. Now they have a 9-1 lead in the 7th inning in the second game. Schilling was great giving up just one run on three hits in 6 innings, and throwing 70% strikes...DAMN! Hmmmm, looks like it could be a very bad day in Joe.tville. But it just isn't as much fun without the usual reliable mispredictions. Come on Joey boy, enthrall us with your wisdom...AGAIN!

lol,

Korbel

Update 10:52: Gagne's in with a 10-1 lead in the 9th. Is this safe...lol.

Update 10:58: Gagne gives up one hit then knocks them down quick. Well...he's fearless and sharp with a huge lead...LOL. Game over and the Boston Red Sox sweep a double header...YEEEEEEHAAAAAA!

Boy, it's quiet in here...

...Joe and the Beav must have been up real late last night, or rather, early this morning, wishing the Yankees had gotten Eric Gagne.

The Fat Lady's in her dressing room warming up her vocal chords and I've got a pair of front row seats, one with Joe's name on it, to her performance.

It seems that:
Clemens sucks.
Mussina sucks. The NY papers are even suggesting replacing him in the rotation with Igawa.
Hughes isn't ready for the big time.
Wang sorta sucks.
The bullpen sucks.
The $200,000,000 monster, the cupcake portion of the schedule gone by, has lost 6 out of the last 10 and is on the verge of falling out of the race, now four games behind Seattle in the lost column in the wild card race. Where will they be come next Thursday when the Sox and Tigers get done with what's left of them?

Hello Rumples,

Don't sugar coat it, just tell it like it is...lol. Isn't that the second or third game Henn has blown in a week. Damn, I was hoping for some mispredictions from Joe.t or expert illuminating data wisdom by Da Beav, but bad nights like this just aren't too motivating I guess. Well, happy "you know what happens it August" guys.

Miss ya...lol.

Hey Monkey brains (rumples) guess who is only .7 points behind Crisp in batting average, i could have swore it was more than .30 not too long ago.:p
Actually, it was more like .50. Certainly looks like I could lose this bet. Regardless, Crisp, because he's a centerfielder and not a dh, is twice as valuable a player as Demon. What makes the increase in Demon's batting average more impressive is that fact that he doesn't get to beat up on Yankee pitching.

Oh, BTW, post-season ABs don't count in this bet. It looks like Demon will bat .000 in the post-season, going 0 for 0.
