The Actual Difference

Joe.t said:
Hey Monkey brains (rumples) guess who is only .7 points behind Crisp in batting average, i could have swore it was more than .30 not too long ago.:p

After the August 24,2007 games, Coco Crisp is hitting .271 while Johnny Damon is hitting .264 the actual difference is .007 not .7 For there to be a .7 difference Coco Crisp would have to be hitting .964, highly unlikely since such an average would require a start and continuance in the 192 for 199 range.

Joe is Somewhat Inaccurate

rumpleforeskiin said:
Actually, it was more like .50. Certainly looks like I could lose this bet. Regardless, Crisp, because he's a centerfielder and not a dh, is twice as valuable a player as Demon. What makes the increase in Demon's batting average more impressive is that fact that he doesn't get to beat up on Yankee pitching.

Oh, BTW, post-season ABs don't count in this bet. It looks like Demon will bat .000 in the post-season, going 0 for 0.

Joe.t is somewhat inaccurate.See the previous. The difference unless we are talking 1 for 2 vs 0 for 2 was never .5. Thanks for confirming that handling and interpreting numbers is not a strongpoint of yours.

While Joe did misplace the decimal points, I knew quite well what he was trying to say. Therefore, my obtuse friend, I did not choose to nitpick. While he was mathematically incorrect, he was, at least, unlike yourself, understandable.

Thanks for confirming that nitpicking is a strong point of yours; I prefer to deal in substance.

Hello Joe. t,

I have to say that according to the box score your Yankers bullpen pitched and excellent game last night. Really, after Clemens tried to give away the farm they showed a lot of guts. Of course, one poor pitching choice took care of that...WACK!!!

I love your "Hey Monkey brains" address to Rumpleforeskiin. Nice to see you can give it back after all the times he has called you Joe Y.F.M. However, it looks like your bet is going to be the only thing you might be able to brag about for this season. I have to agree with Berra, but it doesn't look good at all for the billionaire Yankers boys. To borrow from the master of hyperbole, Wakefield is on fire again and is pitching lights out as the Sox lead in the 11-0 in the 8th and are piling it on with bases still loaded at this moment. It will be another tough night of keep up for the Yankers. Oh...Crisp is 2-4. Maybe you won't have that bet for solace. Good luck Buddy.

Hugs,

Korbel

Hey Korbie the problem is that we have our version of Gagne(Henn), Torre keeps putting him in there with the game on the line and then he goes out and blows the game, hopefully thats the last of Henn.

As for the Crisp bet i knew that Damon would catch up eventually, rumples fell for that one hook, line and sinker, i just hope that he pays up because if he doesn't i might have to send out my enforcer on a collection job(Special K).:)

Don't forget.

Hello Joe. t,

Don't forget that Gagne blew two games by himself and was largely responsible for finishing off another. That's three losses. Henne has blown two to my knowldge. So all things considered the Yankers are one blown loss ahead and still 6 1/2 behind for now.

What...is...up...with...WAKEFIELD...damn. He has been en fuego lately, and not just against bottom feeders either. He "has not allowed a run in 15 consecutive innings". Wow...Wakefield...you are no Clemens...thank GOD! Final score 14-2.

By the way, that was the second time very recently Clemens threw batting practice and did not get the loss. Give me Wakefield any time.

Cheers,

Korbel

It seems that:
Clemens sucks.
Mussina sucks. The NY papers are even suggesting replacing him in the rotation with Igawa.
Hughes isn't ready for the big time.
Wang sorta sucks.
The bullpen sucks.
The $200,000,000 monster, the cupcake portion of the schedule gone by, has lost 6 out of the last 10 and is on the verge of falling out of the race, now four games behind Seattle in the lost column in the wild card race. Where will they be come next Thursday when the Sox and Tigers get done with what's left of them?

I will agree with most of the above except that Wang sorta sucks. He's having a very good sophomore season, surprisingly to me.

Going into last night, his ERA since the All Star Break was 5.74. That sucks.

Yesterday was my birthday and I gave myself a little present: authorization to start monitoring the Red Sox' magic number. A little early I know, but with a lead this gynormous, what the hey.

And the magic number is: 27. (OK, why not go a bit further. The Seattle Mariners' magic number for securing the wild card is: 33.

If the Sox play .500 ball, the Yankees need to go 23-10. With that pitching staff, it just ain't happening.

One other late season subject. Typically, in the MVP voting, there's a heavy favoritism toward players from teams going into the post-season. With that in mind, who's most likely to be this year's MVP, Magglio Ordonez or Mike Lowell?

Ho-hum. Another day, another nail in the coffin. Once the Sox get finished sweeping their 4 game set with the hapless Chisox in about an hour, the Sox lead will be at 7.5 and the magic number down to 25.

What this means is:
a) even in the unlikely event the Sox should get swept by the Yankees in NY this week, the lead will still be nearly insurmountable.

b) the Yankees suck.

With another 2 abs left today, Crisp's lead over the corpse of Johnny Demon is now up to .010.

Hello all,

Um um um...what has happened to the mighty Yankers scoring machine their fans were bragging about when they were playing the bottom feeders and also-rans. Oh how awesome they looked back then...unstoppable, on fire, lights out...hey give them the crown and save everybody else the embarrassment...lol. DAMN...how things have changed since they had to face the quality teams of the league. And, whatever happens between them and the Red Sox at least the Yankers won't be facing a team with three of four hurt pitchers, and Varitek and Ortiz out hurt too. This year you have to earn the head to head bragging rights...and that may be all you get this year with Boston battering the Chisox again today. Geeeeez, did anyone tell Chicago the exhibition season was over 5 months ago???

UPDATE: Tavarez gives up just 2 hits, Gagne was very tough, and Papelbon locked it down. SWEEP!

SIDENOTE: This is the first time the Sox have gotten double digit runs in all games in a four game series in over half a century...June 2-5 1950.

Back to 7 1/2 boys.

Cheerio,

Korbel

PS

What has happened to EB and Femalelover2 now that the tide is drowning the Yankers?????????

Hello Femaleluver2,

You ARE a likable sort...for a damn Yankers fan. I hope it's not too crowded under there with Joe. t and EB. Maybe EB has cut down on the caffeine since his last crude spat so it isn't any worse there than it has to be. Well, the tide is up to your neck...if you are on your toes. Try not to drown too early...lol.

Towels anyone,

Hey rumples and korbie, you guys can come back now from underneath those rocks you crawled from.:p

Does anybody have any info on SK and btyger, have they been banned.

Down to 3 games after tomorrow as Kazmir owns the Red Sox so much so that he would probably beat them throwing with his right arm.:)

Joe.t...speaking of rocks it must be getting quite cozy under there with Beav these days! How you feelin' about your behemoth nowadays? Sweet display by Mussina tonight for 3 innings of batting practice that the Tigers surely needed. :p

Any chance Joba can become a starter and pitch 5 straight days in a row, nine innings at a time? That's about the only chance in hell the Spankees have now!!

Phewww...I feel better now, there have been sightings of these two MIA Yankee fans in other threads, I believe they're just too embarassed to show your pinstripe muddled mugs here in this thread. At least they're keeping active under that rock together! :p

I imagine they'll be looking for even bigger and better rocks within a few hours. I understand that Joe.T is booked on the 9:15 to Tora Bora.

The Yanks call up another hot prospect to take the place of Moose.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7166092

BTW Damon is now officially 4.00 points behind the struggling Crisp and is batting .350 since july 21, he should pass him after tonights game where i am expecting the Yankees to take batting practice against Beckett and cream the Red Sox, down to 6 after tonight.

Also Torre finally got rid of our version of Gagne and sent him packing, its about fucking time.

Hello Joe. t,

WOW...I can't believe you are focused on Damon without any mention of the game last night. You must still be terribly shaken by that 16-0 brutalizing the Yankers got from the Tigers. Holy crap, they came close to the Yankers world record 22-0 loss of 2004. I know one Yankers fan at work who actually said: "I'm raising the white flag, I give up". But not you Joe. t. OHHHH, say it aint so!

To Femaleluver2,

I like you buddy, and I hate to think of you under that rock after the Yankers brutal beating by the Tigers 16-0. It must be cold and lonely there. So here is something to help get you through the days.
