Hello Special K,

Well, when one has to worry about "testing" during the season the effect of the summer binge in roids wears off by August, and woe to the untalented in October...lol. Either that or it's the natural tendency for a Yanker to choke.

Happy batting breezes,

Korbel

I've got this feeling we're going to need Dr. October to step up tonight.

Hello Rumples,

Josey didn't bite at my bet for a case of beer against three Yankers wins in a row. But the Yankers sure BITE! Now they have good reason to wear the "blues".

Hugs for Josey,

Heroes and Villians

Lots of Heroes last night, and some goats:

Heroes - Melky Cabrera - biggest game of the kid's life. Huge defensive play in the second inning. Later, when Carmona made his only mistake of the evening, Melky didn't miss it.

Andy Pettitte - far from perfect, allowing 9 runners in 6.3 innings. Brilliant all night when working out of the stretch.

JD Drew - With a big 2 run single in the first to put the Sox ahead, how many million did the smooth swinging lefty earn?

Julio Lugo - Started the game winning rally with a sharp single to left.

Manny Ramirez - Manny being Papi.

Dr. October - Striking fear into the hearts of men, the big guy drew three walks, the last one setting the stage for Manny to be Manny.

Goats -

Mr. Regular Season - Pay-Rod left Cleveland wearing yet another post-season collar. Three more strikeouts last night, the last one with the winning run on second. Oh for his last 28 in the post-season, he's 2 shy of owning the record.

Joba Chamberlain - Tune in tomorrow at noon on the YES network of Chokiography, narrated by Susan Waldman, brought to you by the makers of Prozac.

What a great night for the grande olde game. What a bad, bad night for our own lovable fucking moron.

OK, it's the last of the ninth, sixth game of the World Series, you're down 4-3, but have the bases loaded with two out. Who would you rather have at the plate: Alex Rodriguez, who hasn't had a post-season hit since the Eisenhower administration, or JD Drew?

Hello Femaleluver2,

ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT. That's what I like you...not afraid to tell it like it is. I swear that homer by Manny was made for a movie...what a beautiful flight. It should have had a stewardess on it serving champagne...lol.

Cheers,

Apparently they are going to make a movie out of it, but they're waiting for the ball to come down. Current projection is that it will land in Ottawa on Tuesday.

What's pretty clear to me is that God hates the Yankees and doesn't want them to win. Last night's bug infestation at the Jake is pretty clear evidence of that. Had Chamberlain not thrown the wild pitch allowing the Tribe to tie the game, the field would most likely have been invaded by frogs in the eighth. Had that not done the trick either, Mariano Rivera would have had to close the game out on a field covered with locusts.

Hello Rumples,

There was a sad, sad scene on ESPN this morning where Torre looked like he was in shock while saying...we need to get more hits, we need more runs. WELL DUH! How utterly pathetic that he should need to say this about the billionaire boys who got far more runs than any other team this year. As for A-Rod, last year he was well known for being unable to hit in the clutch. This year it seemed like he could do it at will. And now...NOTHING when it counts. Is he the greatest single definition of CHOKE or what.

Hack hack,

Korbel

Cheers,

Hail and Farewell

You really don't want to miss the game today between the Yankees and Indians.

• Roger Clemens - Today's game will be the last in the his great career. Certainly one of the two or three best pitchers in baseball history.
• Joe Torre - After 12 years at the helm, Joe rides off into the sunset, thinking back to better times, way back in the last century.
• Jorge Posada - Met fans will get a preview of their new catcher.
• Mariano Rivera - Where will the best closer of all time pitch next year. As the Yankees will be highly unlikely to need him today, we may have already seen the last of Mo in a Yankee uniform.
• Alex Rodriguez - Who knows where A-Rod will do his choking next year? The Shadow knows.

Last I heard is that the Red Sox are really interested in him, so there is a good possibility that next spring that your hatred for ARod will all of a sudden become a love affair, it would be a huge improvement over their current third baseman who had a career year and I can almost guarantee that he will never have a year like the one he just had.

There is talk that the Sox are among a number of destinations for Mr. Regular Season. While Mike Lowell is not likely to repeat 2007, he's a solid player and a Gold Glove third baseman. (And he's proven that, unlike Slappy, he can hit in October.) I'd rather they re-signed him and let A-Rod go to Detroit or Chicago.

The good news for the Yankees is that that every team A-Fraud's left has gotten noticeably better the following year.

Interesting Trends

To date the baseball play-offs have some interesting trends.

Teams like the Phillies,Cubs,Yankees that were cobbled together at great expense with the immediate goal of making the playoffs achieved there goal but left or are on the verge of leaving quickly. The Mets, another team in this category, managed to self-destruct before the play-offs on merit or lack of same.

Teams like the Rockies,Diamondbacks,Indians that were built or re-built in a prudent fashion that features a solid base, long term goals, prudent use of financial resources are having success and are not being challenged by opponents that have blatant holes in the make-up of their teams.

The Angels and Red Sox, teams that borrowed a bit from the two approaches are involved in the most interesting series. A sweep or a comeback would not negate or validate their efforts.

Hello Joe.t,

Interesting...no wait...your prediction failures have badly damage your credibility.

First, despite the gross ineptitude by A-Choke and the severe damage it must have caused to Steinboner's colon, he won't be able to live with the idea of Mr. 0-18 going to the Sox. Expect Steingrabber to out bid anyone.

Second, the prospect of A-Choke being up their in place of Manny with 2 out in the 9th is ugly indeed. He already choked for the Yankers in their game 2. I don't want to give him the chance to spread his failures with the Sox. When/if he gets the MVP this year it will be a travesty in view of his failures in the playoffs.

Keep him...PLEEEEEEASE!!!

This has got to rank right up there with the biggest dumbass comment in the history of MERB, in fact it might be number 1.

PS- Korbel my good man I think that you are losing it big time, could it be the distraction of football season?

Hello Joe.t

Well, if you are saying that the MVP is not questionable when the candidate who is supposed to be key to his team's success is a total failure in the post season then your reign as the king of silly continues very strong.

NOW: the Steinboner EXPLOSION!

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7305984

"The Yankees owner told
The Record of North Jersey that manager Joe Torre will likely be fired if the Yankees don't rally to beat Cleveland. His job is on the line. I think we're paying him a lot of money. He's the highest-paid manager in baseball, so I don't think we'd take him back if we don't win this series, said Steinbrenner."

"He also had some choice words for umpire Bruce Froemming, who allowed Game 2 to continue despite an infestation of Lake Erie gnats.
The umpire was full of (expletive)."
As for Alex Rodriguez, Steinbrenner hopes to keep the slugger around a while longer.

"I think we'll re-sign him. I think he's going to have a good run the rest of the (postseason). I think he realizes New York is the place to be, the place to play. A lot of this (postseason) is laying on his shoulders, you know, but I think he's up to it."Torre better hope so.

Oh way to go Georgie. This all may be very obvious, but was it wise to publicly rachet up the pressure on your team like you are tightening an iron chain around both of their necks...lol. My goodness, nice tactical move by putting a big gun to both of their heads. What an utterly stupid jerk. I think the Yankers would rather have the gnats than the gun. You gotta love an onwer who has a public meltdown purposely just to add more pressure to a team in crisis. Way to support the TEAM...lol. Te funniest part is that even if they lose he now look totally ridiculous when he pays grossly exhorbitant record amounts to keep A-Choke on his Tankees team.

Bronx cheers,

Korbel
