Steinboner the COWARD!

Hello all,

How's this for cowardly strategy?

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7349692

"He wasn't going to take a pay cut from the New York Yankees, no matter that he still would have been the highest-paid manager in baseball, and he certainly wasn't going to prove himself all over again.

Torre walked away Thursday, turning down a $5 million, one-year contract - $2.5 million less than he made this season, when the Yankees failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs for the third straight year."

Clearly this offer was meant to maneuver Torre into a position of rejecting the Yankees instead of the owner having to fire Torre and face the wrath of many fans. Is Steinboner just being a stinking coward about doing what he really wants to do, fire Torre...I say YES!

Flashback to Casey Stengel leaving the Yankees.

Could be the start of a new salary management policy with the Yankees.

Interesting to see how this translates to player and free agent decisions.

Also head to head against Joe Di Maggio and Mickey Mantle he is far from dominating.
Ted Williams never batted against either Joe DiMaggio or Mickey Mantle. If memory serves me well, neither of them were pitchers.

Head to head, the Ted Williams led Red Sox against the Joe Di Maggio or Mickey Mantle led Yankees ALWAYS lost - season ending or mid season series that were vital in determining the pennant or defining the pennant race.

Oh no not one of those games!!! first bad call of the night was that Kevin Kennedy and Eric Karros are picking the Red Sox to win and the second bad call was that Sizemore was robbed of a home run, that ball was right over the middle of the foul poul which means that it should have been a home run, Boston gets the first break.

Hello Joe. t,

I just tuned into the game and it's 10-1 in the 3rd. Your prediction in bold print here could be in a LITTLE TROUBLE...lol. There's a lot of game left, but I think I can handle this kind of start.

Ta ta,

JD DREW - WE LOVE YOU !

40 Year Old Curt Schilling 7 Innings,6 Hits, 2 Runs, NO WALKS, 5 K's
Curt is 4-0 in Elimination Games

See you Sunday Night, Game 7 @ Boston 8 p.m.

Jake Westbrook vs Dice K

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/probable_pitchers.jsp?c_id=bos

Scouting Report:
Indians: If this series goes to a seventh game, the Indians will hand the ball to Westbrook and hope he has his best sinkerball at his disposal. He was roughed up in his first career postseason start in Yankee Stadium in Game 3 of the ALDS, serving up six runs on nine hits in five innings in a loss, as his pitch patterns became too predictable. But in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Red Sox, he displayed just how effective he can be when that sinker is working and when his secondary pitches are mixed in for good measure. He allowed just two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings in a gutsy effort that saw him force three inning-ending double plays. The Indians would be hoping for more of the same in this game. Westbrook is 1-1 with an 8.44 ERA in his career at Fenway Park, giving up 10 earned runs in 10 2/3 innings.

Red Sox: Matsuzaka hopes the Red Sox can force a Game 7 so that he can wash away the bitter taste of two mediocre postseason outings. In his Game 3 loss against the Indians, Matsuzaka gave up six hits and four runs over 4 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out six. As has often been the case during his rough outings, Matsuzaka was uneconomical, throwing 101 pitches. In Game 2 of the Division Series against the Angels, Matsuzaka gave up seven hits and three runs over 4 2/3 innings, striking out three. His regular season was a tale of two halves. Before the All-Star break, Matsuzaka was 10-6 with a 3.84 ERA. After the break, he went 5-6 with a 5.19 ERA. Matsuzaka struck out 201 batters over 204 2/3 innings in his first Major League season. He held opponents to a .246 average.
