I would not dispute that the American military equipment in 1967 was probably superior to its Russian counterparts, however the Arab armies had far more of it and far more manpower than the Israelis. Israel destroyed the Egyptian Air Force before it ever got off the ground in preemptive strikes.

I actually knew someone who was a veteran of that conflict (on the Israel side). He is now deceased but he told me that the Arab leadership was ineffective and they were disorganized and scattered pretty quickly once things started going against them. He fought under Moshe Dayan and knew him. Dayan and others like him were effective and proven military leaders. In the Sinai portion of the conflict, the Egyptians were badly outmaneuvered and the evacuation is what specifically led to the request that the unfortunate General Amer kill himself. It was convenient that Nasser had a fall guy and he was the designated fall guy for the defeat, although certainly it was not all his fault. This enabled Nasser to remain in power and claim he was let down by incompetent generals, much like Hitler had claimed at the end of World War II when the Germans had much superior weaponry to the Russians as well.

I think the German tanks were generally recognized as superior to anyone’s in WW II. Including the US. And much of their other weapons.

The AK-47 didn’t exist in World War II BTW.

Never underestimate Russian technology. If some of the best minds hadn`t left in the last 30 - 40 years....then GOOGLE and who knows what else would be Russian to-day.

I think the German tanks were generally recognized as superior to anyone’s in WW II.

Apparently, some German generals were unaware of that:

The T-34, a Soviet medium tank, had a profound and lasting effect on the field of tank design. At its introduction in 1940, the T-34 possessed an unprecedented combination of firepower, mobility, protection and ruggedness. Its 76.2 mm (3 in) high-velocity tank gun provided a substantial increase in firepower over any of its contemporaries[5] while its well-sloped armour was difficult to penetrate by most contemporary anti-tank weapons. When it was first encountered in 1941, German general Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist called it "the finest tank in the world"[6] and Heinz Guderian affirmed the T-34's "vast superiority" over existing German armour of the period.[7][8] Although its armour and armament were surpassed later in the war, it has been often credited to have been the most effective, efficient and influential tank design of the Second World War.[9]

Moving from the kurds to military expertise LOL

I would not dispute that the American military equipment in 1967 was probably superior to its Russian counterparts,

In 1967, main equipment of the Israeli army, air force were not American, air power was mostly the French Mirage IIIs and the tanks were
mostly British Centurions, the success of the air force was the surprise pre-emptive attack on the Arab air forces where most of the fighters parked in open air, sitting ducks.
When the French stopped shipping / selling arms to Israel then they switched to all American air force.

I think the German tanks were generally recognized as superior to anyone’s in WW II. Including the US. And much of their other weapons.

Apparently, some German generals were unaware of that:

The German tanks were much more superior when it came to firepower, and armour but were very cumbersome and more slow
to produce in numbers during the critical times for the German army.

On the other hand, the American Shermans and the Russian T34s were smaller, medium sized tanks, faster and more maneuverable
and much much quicker to manufacture and produce then the German counter parts where at the end it became superiority in numbers.

In this conflict we are talking about Turkey, NATO country with superior air force, army, heavy artillery etc etc, kurds would have been
no match, thankfully for them there is cease fire at the moment.

$ million goes to Trump hotels every time he adds to the record number of days a president spends per year playing golf. Look at my next message to see one of the ways he benefited financially by withdrawing the troops which were serving as a buffer to protect the Kurds. You appeared to have been, in your own words, duped rather easily.

For a second I thought you were talking about Obama (Playing golf twice a day and pulling troops out of Iraq after disarming the populace so they can be at the whim of Isis).

Look behind you.
Friday marked Trump's 729th day in office. January 20 marks two years since his inauguration. Over two years in office, that equates to a neat 35*confirmedrounds per year in office.*According toCBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Obama played a total of 333 rounds of golf in his eight-year presidency. That averages out to about 41 rounds per year.

Please send me your link. Here's mine:

Obama didn't personally profit by charging the US taxpayer for the hotel stay of his entourage. He mostly golfed at military bases, so the security bill was lower also.

In any case, I agree with you that Obama's golfing was worse than Trump's. When Trump isn't golfing, he is doing things like blackmailing the Ukranians, removing protection for parks and cancelling anti-pollution and consumer fraud regulations. Obama lost time from actually working. The USA is better the less Trump meddles.

Your link supports my assertion, not yours!

According to the tracking website Trump Golf Count, Trump has gone to a golf course—he owns many—during the daytime at least 154 times during his presidency. And of those trips to golf courses, there is documented evidence of Trump playing golf on at least 70 visits, according to the site. That evidence bit is key. As Politifact noted here, counting the number of times Trump has actually golfed during his visits can be a nebulous undertaking because the White House has often worked to conceal whether or not he was playing.

154 times in 729 days (729 = Number of days of Trump's presidency at the time of publication of the article), averages to more than 77 per year > 41 for Obama.

But anon_vlad, if they hid it, it doesn't count. Obviously Obama had even more golfind trips hidden by the deep state along with Hillary's emails.

More on topic, Trump's attempt to pretend he didn't agree to give Turkey what it wanted is already falling apart it seems. Pence pretending it was a ceasefire seems to have only made the Turks laugh.

Meanwhile Trump just keeps on sending more troops to the middle East. It's up what, 35-40% since the spring? I am still not convinced he won't start a war to distract from impeachment.

Of course he will. And he will most certainly start with bombing the fuck out of his detractors on merb. Everyone would be well advised to find a suitable bomb shelter close to home.

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Syria, North Korea, and Iran have all played Trump for a fool. They are all snickering at this idiot.
Our allies are feeling abandoned and looking elsewhere...

That's what happens when you elect a foreign asset. Trump is drowning in corruption and this has been the case for decades. It's not just Trump but it includes many of his family members and business ties.

Russia has Trump by the balls. They know it and he knows it. Same thing with Erdogan and the Turks. The Saudis & other Arab kingpins have Kushner by the balls. He knows it and they know it. And they feel like they can collect on their 'investment' any time they feel like it. And they expect him to comply.

As for the likes of Kim Jong-Un and other dictators they quickly figured out that the best way to get in Trump's good graces is to praise him. Fill him with praise and you'll be on his good side & be able to get him to do and say whatever you want.

Trump is like a dog. Pat the dog on the head & feed him his dinner and you'll get him to obey and sit on you. That's Donald Trump for you. And it never fails.

Trump is like a dog.

Your metaphor is off by a country mile. Trump is obviously like a laxative for many distinguished gentlemen posting in this thread. Even if their output is pure bullshit rather than its human equivalent. Generate a few paragraphs -- and you feel so much better, don't you?

For decades Turkey has had a policy of “assimilating the Kurds into Turkish ethnic identity. Kurds in Turkey are free to be Kurds, only if they accept that they’re Turkish citizens.

The problem begins when the Kurds are seeking to establish a "distinct identity" (i.e.: an autonomous region) within Turkey, similar to what was established in Iraq. Iraq is the only country in the region to have established an autonomous Kurdish region, known as Iraqi Kurdistan.

...and that ain't going to happen in Turkey...and the U.S. should not be the one to get involved in this crap. This issue with the Kurds has existed since WW I, and it is ludicrous to infer any blame on the Trump administration specifically.

Correctamundo! It was a huge mistake for the US to get involved in the first place and the mistake had to be undone. The media is only feeding on it because Trump was the one to undo the mistake that had been made. The media keeps perpetuating the notion that the Kurds are owed something by the US. They have no such entitlement to anything from the US, they are simply back to where they started before the US stuck its nose where it doesn't belong. They are starting from scratch, like anyone has to do when, for example, a landlord decides not to renew your lease or no longer will offer rent abatement. You would be in the same position as the Kurds- you have no entitlement to a new lease or continued rent abatement, you are just back to looking for a new place like everyone else. And not a soul would feel sorry for "your lease is over dude" ass. All the rest is drama and fucking bullshit.

You, Sharkman, have identified the correct read on this issue. Everyone else is so caught up in the pro or anti Trump angle and/or drama and/or bullshit. Who cares if Trump finally got something right, the bottom line is, he did.
