Boston and Toronto are not in the same situation as Montreal, for the Canadiens the future is NOW!

That's actually quite true. Carey Price isn't getting any younger and he may be difficult to re-sign in a year or two once he becomes UFA. I wouldn't be surprised if his contract demands start at $10 million/season. Pacioretty and Galchenyuk will also be expecting big pay raises. And Markov may be playing his last year....same thing with Pleky.

Yes that is my point they play in the hope of raising the cup this year or the next two.
I'm not saying they will I'm just hoping, based on the fact that they are today, NOW in a good position and one of the best teams.
But so much can happen till then...
You need alot of luck and guts to win the Stanley Cup.
Furthur down the line, nobody knows the future and the expansion draft will also have it's effect next summer.

The Bruins are leading 1-0, the Habs shouldn't lose but Rask is in the zone tonight, that is the unpredictable beauty of sports.

The Bruins won 2-1 in overtime. What a game!!! This was one of the best games i've watched all season long!!

Boston had actually scored previously in overtime, but for some reason the goal was disallowed. And then they came back and Spooner scored the winner!

By the way, i'm really impressed by David Pasternak. Wow, what a player!

Very intense game! It's nice to see the rivalry is still ongoing.

The Habs missed AG27 on the power play and they are not good on 3 on 3.
The Bruins have a great PK.
Radu and Weber need the upcoming break.

But good exciting game overall!

For what it's worth, as of tonight, the Montreal Canadiens are alone in first place, Pittsburg Pens are second then NY Rangers in the overall league standings.

Good for eastern teams!

Agree with you completly.

It needed a review but no suplementary punishment.

I still think Price sent a message to the league. It was almost a question of.survival for himself and other goalies.

The best division up to now is the Metropolitan, five teams between 41 and 39 points.
Pitt-NY-Columbus-Phily-Wash
Six out of the seven point leading teams are from the East.

Right now Dubnyk, Raanta and Price are all saving goals at a % that is higher than Tim THomas' NHL record .938 save % for the 2010-11 season. Will this continue?
Devan Dubnyk is having an unbelievable season! He's leading in several categories. Right now, he's the guy to beat for the Vezina trophy. Carey Price has started to wear down lately. I think all his injuries over the past few years have started to catch up to him.

I really did not see this team doing much, but they are on fire and have won 10 in a row, their longest winning streak in 31 years! These bullies are coming to play!

Wow I wasn't aware of that streak at all. They have a future stud d man in Provorov that I do know. Next to the Habs and Red Wings I have to say the Flyers are my most hated team in the league.

It's still early I'd be shocked if he won the Vezina over Price or Bobrovsky.

Why?? Dubnyk is as good as Price is. Were Price not playing in Montreal, he wouldn't be regarded as highly as he is. Take Subban. Many looked at him as a demi-god when he played for the habs. They wanted him to win the Norris every year. Now nobody talks or cares about him.

The habs are at home against the bigger San Jose Sharks tonight. Watch the big Sharks forwards rush the net every chance they have. Carey better keep an eye on them or risk losing his right knee to injury again. What can i say? It's part of the game. When i used to play we used to run at the other team's goalie all the time in order to gain an edge. It was fair game and they were welcome to do the same against ours (but pay a price if they did, of course).

Don't look now but the Columbus Blue Jackets have won 8 in a row and they have now streaked past Montreal into 3rd place Eastern Conference behind the Penguins and Rangers:

http://www.espn.com/nhl/standings/_/group/2

Montreal is slowly fading back in the standings and they are not far from dropping to 8th or 9th place. They are one slump away from being there. This is a tough league and you have to to win consistently over a long season.

Columbus has also tied the Rangers for a +36 goal differential- best in the NHL. The Penguins have now tied the Rangers with 108 goals scored, once again showing this is a league in which you have to be able to put pucks in the net. The Flyers with 105 goals are the only other team with 100+ goals. And the Flyers are ready to pass Montreal based on their red hot play of late.
