Was indeed a great game with a wonderful friend (if you read this merci beaucoup mon amie, you are a wonderful young lady) and the Leafs actually outplayed the habs by a slight margin but Caery Price once again stole the game. It could have easily been a 4-2 win for the leafs if Price was not on his game but it is what it is. Best game of the year so far and about time Freddie Anderssen showed up, there is hope yet lol.

I thought Anastasia was a Caps fan?

I agree that the Leafs should have won the game were it not for Carey Price. But we're getting used to it now: the habs are pretty much a one-man team. Carey Price. But he's been injury-prone and he's got a bad right knee. He didn't undergo surgery during the off-season, which means that his knee could go any time.

Meanwhile how about the beating the Rangers gave the Lightning last night? Jimmy Vesey now has 5 goals in a promising rookie season while Mike Grabner, the Leafs castoff, also has 5 goals. Early results suggest the Rangers have upgraded their offense.

I had to give my head a good shake when i saw the boxscore showing Grabner getting a hat trick. It wouldn't surprise me if those were the last goals he'll score this season. Great skater, but no hands. Great penalty killer. It'd be unfair to call him a 'Leafs castoff'. He only played for them one season after spending most of his career with the Long Island Islanders.

Vesey with 6 goals already and now being included in the Calder talk with Matthews, Nylander and Laine. Long ways to go however. I still think Mitch Marner will end up in the top 5 as well. He is not racking up the points like the rest but like Doc mentioned before he is one of the best players so far this early season for the young Leafs. Such a smart player and defensively responsible like Matthews.

The Rangers will always be a threat (at least to make the playoffs) as long as King Henrik is not past his prime.

Greeeeeeeeeeeat game at the ACC tonight as two young fast skilled exciting teams went at it. McDavid was shut down by the amazing play of Kadri. Nylander and Matthews were all over the Oilers but came up short.

46 shots on the Leafs net. Interesting fact is that when Matthews has gotten a point the Leafs have never won, friend of mine ( leafs fan ) pointed this out.

And one should have never went in, Freddie Anderssen made a huge mistake trying to handle the puck. He was ON his game tonight but lots of easy shots but some tough ones as well. Talbot made some crazy saves as well. That game could have been 7-6. Matthews and Nylander were the Leafs 2nd and 3rd best players tonight, Kadri was #1 not only for scoring two goals but for shutting down McDavid. He was like a fly on crap all night long whenever Connor touched the puck.

I agree. It wouldn't surprise me if a few years from now, Mitch Marner turns out to be the better offensive player. Marner reminds me so much of a younger Patrick Kaine.

I totally agree. Andersen made the wrong decision, but Jake Gardiner also didn't help by literally blocking him out of his crease. I dunno about Gardiner. He should be playing better at this point in his career. But he hasn't improved much over the past few years. And he's a giveaway machine. He also doesn't seem to be skating as well as he did a few years ago. He also doesn't seem to be the brightest lad out there. He seems to lack in hockey intelligence. i wouldn't mind if they traded him for something useful.

The GEO play the Rangers tonight, hoping for a good game. Talbot wants this win.

After another 5 goal explosion last night the NY Rangers are in 1st place in the Metropolitan division, are tied with Montreal for the best goal differential in the NHL (+20) and lead the NHL in goals scored. To say that the team was successful in upgrading their roster this offseason would be a bit of an understatement. The men in blue look very, very solid to me.

Jeff Gorton in just over a year has slowly built a good roster into a very deep and very good roster. I think Glen Sather taught him a thing or two about hockey team personnel management along the way.

You should have been a sports writer. I watched the game, was hoping for OT but did not happen, impressed with the bank shot off the boards for the empty net shot.
The GEO played OK but now that they are playing with a different caliber of teams ( this road trip ) they may fall from their perch.

That is what the Montreal Canadiens thought after 1/8 of the season last year, hell they thought that after almost HALF the season :pound:

That will not be happening. Rangers are not going anywhere. They have a ticket punched to the playoffs.
