Am watching Preds-Jets....fun to watch....2 teams with big similarities.....nice to see Stastny between Ehlers and Laine....big punch line.....Stastny est vraiment le maître des mises au jeu.....les Blues ont vraiment envoyé un mauvais message à leurs fans et aux joueurs en cette fin de course....comme s"ils avaient lancé la serviette...i don't get it.

Not only did the Habs give McDonaugh to the Rangers, they also did them a favour by taking the Gomez contract, which was an anchor. This is what gave the Rangers space in their salary cap to sign Marian Gaborik. Ugh, one incompetent Habs management group after another. Imagine the d-core the Habs could have had without the boneheaded moves!
On another note, I agree with Gaby that the Jets are fun to watch. What's crazy is that the Stastny, Ehlers and Laine will be their third line as far as I know. That's one of the best in recent memory.

What is forgotten, is that the Rangers traded for local boy Christopher Higgins, who accomplished nothing in his stay with the Rangers

It's amazing to me that TB made that trade and hung onto Sergachev. The Rangers should have had a hissy fit about giving up McDonagh and Miller without TB including Sergachev in the return. TB got Sergachev, who is going to be an NHL superstar, for nothing from the Habs (failed prospect Drouin) and now they heist the Rangers for 2 good players and hang on to Sergachev.
It's infuriating. TB is aggressively seeking to build a dynasty and other teams are allowing it to happen. Tampa Bay doesn't even deserve to have a hockey team. There are no hockey rinks there. I will travel to that area to see a few Yankees games in a few weeks and people will be wearing sunglasses and swatting away bees while eating cotton candy in the stands and enjoying 83 degree temperatures. That is no hockey country. Pretty good for baseball though. TB has had one rain day since the beginning of January, 0.4 rain and it is usually dry as hell from January to end of March. That's why they call it the Sunshine State, and the sun don't shone on no hockey rinks. It does shine on a lot of baseball stadiums.
Preds 6-5 on Jets....what a game...electric night....hockey at his best....Josi 5 assists and Stastny one goal-one assist......fans gave him a very nice welcome...they will love him. ...2 great teams. Et pendant ce temps les Blues se faisaient lessiver 8-3 par le Wild.
Stellar year for the Oilers, an absolute great team to cheer for. The way they handled the trade deadline was second to none. Really waiting to see how they do in the playoffs.
While it is true that Higgins had a short stay in NY and didn't produce as expected, the Rangers did obtain two very good players in return for him and some stiff named Ales Kotalik when they traded them to Calgary for Brandon Prust & Ollie Jokinen.
Tampa never would have made the trade had NY insisted on getting Sergachev. As for Drouin it's too early to call him a flop. For one he played centre all season long and he's not a center. He's a winger. Playing out of position all season long really hurt his production. He's still very young and full of talent. Find him & Pacioretty a #1 center and they'll produce. Imagine them playing with a centre such as John Tavares and they'd both pick up 80+ points a season with each getting 30+ goals.
It wouldn't surprise to see the Winnipeg Jets playing for the Stanley Cup in a few months. Same thing for Nashville. One of those two teams could very well represent the Western Conference in the upcoming Stanley Cup finals. I predict they'd meet either Tampa or Boston. Which is why i'm happy Toronto didn't give away their future in order to acquire an aging star such as Ryan McDonagh. This is not the Leafs year to contend for the Cup when they have to face the likes of Tampa and/or Boston early in the playoffs.
By the way something has to be done to change the current playoffs format which is unfair to many teams and a change would preserve interest in the playoffs. Currently the best series are the ones in the opening round and once the second round starts hockey fans start to tune out if their teams are eliminated since the rivalries are over and people would rather spend time outside enjoying spring.
I'm not sure the Pens have the defence & goaltending to beat either the Bruins or Tampa. I'd even pick the Leafs over the Penguins if they were to meet.
Prust was a great character guy parlaying his time in NYC to leave to Montreal in a free agent contract. I can't blame him for taking that multi year deal on the open market
Jokinen was another failure in NY, only lasting a couple months:yawn:

I can't see a western-based team being relocated to the east considering the west is still short of one team as compared to the east. Moving a western-based team such as Calgary to the east would cause the east to have three teams more than the west.
Seattle would indeed be a more realistic option for relocation but my guess is that the league would prefer creating a totally different new franchise & in the process collect more than half a billion $ in expansion fee.
