One negative is having Colton Orr once again in the lineup. Considering the boneheaded penalties he took in the past couple of games, i'm out of answers on why Wilson doesn't make him sit for a couple of games to make him think more about playing a team game. I for one am getting a bit sick n' tired of all his unecessary 'staged' fights. I'm not alone.

Another excellent observation - great work Doc!

Bought, hook line and sinker again, i was hesitating to put "O" contraire but that would of been to obvious i was trying to get you to bite and it would not have worked. ;)
Again, no logic. By the way, it should be "Au contraire", my unilingual friend.

Gee if Ottawa keeps losing they might end up 29th this year. Wouldn't a 29th place finish be embarrassing for any team?

Interesting stat heading into tonights game

Since December 1

Ovechkin line: 8 goals, 28 assists, 36 points

Grabovski line: 30 goals, 31 assists, 61 points

I would like to publicly say a huge THANK YOU to Montreal for trading Grabo to the Leafs, this is looking like a steal for the Leafs!

Grabovski's success this season has also salvaged Cliff Fletcher's reputation. The deal now looks like a steal.

Grabs could easily fetch a first-rounder if the Leafs ever decide to trade him. However, i'd hang on to him. But the key is to also hang on to Clarke MacArthur, who's been the missing link on the Grabovski line & as responsible for that line's success.

Totally agree about keeping him. this years draft aside from the top 3 picks is kinda weak. Grabo has already matched his high of 20 goals in a season and still has 36 games to go....again, Thanks Mount Royal!

Damn, I missed the Toronto-Washington game Saturday night, but based on your interesting post, I guess Grabo outscored Ovi, right? By all means, please correct me if I have guessed wrong and it was actually the other way around. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the update. I guess I was wrong and Ovi actually outperformed Grabo.

Detroit lost to the defending Stanley Cup champions who as you have been saying in recent posts are still the elite of the league until they are dethroned. In spite of this RARE loss, the Wings are still where they belong, namely right near the top of the NHL standings. Upsets sometimes occur: the Devils (the WORST team in the league) just beat the Flyers (standings-wise the BEST team)!

And the Habs lost but they badly outshot Anaheim, made a great comeback late in the third, and picked up a point before losing in a shootout. You know, I think I'm going to start rooting for Montreal: if you hate them, it MUST be right for everyone else to cheer them!

By the way, congratulations to Nicklas Lidstrom, highest-scoring defenceman in the NHL this season!

Awww, why the need to defend the red wings in a Leafs thread "cairo", lol....... your scapegoat team is irrelevant in this thread, and always will be.... maybe you should start a red wings thread so you can post by yourself, eh? If you invite Doc and Myself nicely, we might come over to talk about your 42 years of losing, (which for whatever part you were alive in, i am sure you never once admitted you were a fan of theirs, aka, bandwagon) but only if you say please!! :)

1. 42 years? Gee that's BAD, right lg? But golly gee, if 42 is "bad", then I wonder how we would describe 44 and counting?
2. I see that after all these years you still haven't mastered the definition of the word "scapegoat". Since the term is apparently beyond your comprehension, I will say that by your definition of it, there is only ONE NHL team whose fans SHOULD be using a "scapegoat" (by your definition) team. Hint: they are the fans of a team that celebrated a Cup win....in 1967.
3. You can stop playing your broken record about me being a Habs fan and not a Wings fan. As I recently posted, if it will make you happy, please feel free to consider me a fan of 29 of the 30 teams in the league. I won't say which team I am NOT a fan of, but here's a clue: it rhymes with "chiefs".

My guess is that the Leafs will give it one last go over the next 2 or 3 weeks in trying to get another winning streak going in order to get closer to a playoff position. If it doesn't happen, they'll start trading a few extra bodies away at the trade deadline.

I'm still hoping they hang on to their young talent, since this year's draft is supposedly one of the weakest ones in many years. What i've heard is that they'll trade for players instead of draft picks.
