haha! Nick Johnson is on pace to draw 150 walks at the rate he is going, if he does that and hits .200, he will still be a huge addition to the Yanks, as he will also score a tone of runs, but we all know a pure hitter like NJ wont hit .200, neither will TEX. as far as the other Nick, he keeps the clubhouse loose and beloved by all on the Yanks and will chip in his 25 homers 80 rbis and be in the top 5 most likely in on base %. nope , the 2 nicks will be just fine..
Papi to the Yanks if the red sox cut him? I will take that bet for a Steak Dinner anyday of the week Jman...
I really think this Yankees team is honestly one of the best we modern day Yankees fans have ever seen, complete with a solid starting 5 (3 who as of this day could be #1's on alot of teams, plus Hughes could also possibly fall into that equation in the future, he is a tremendous talent when healthy) , a solid bullpen with the games greatest closer ever, and the words Bronx Bombers still remains true, but not only do the Yanks have the power, they have a manager who will manufacture runs as good as anyone in the game and has the players to do so, and remember Girardi not only played in the national league, but he managed there as well and did a phenominal job with the marlins, he knows how to play both styles and does so, and that could prove deadly to the rest of the AL teams on any given night.
Will the Yanks go through a tough stretch this season? will they have key players go on the DL? answer is simply, Yea, most likely. but i think they have enuff role players to overcome anything on offense. however a dominate starting pitcher is hard to replace, thats the only way i see this team faltering in anyway, and thats if 2 or more starting pitchers went down at the same time.....
I actually agree and previously stated he should be doing this against lefties. But I am not worried about the Nicks because those players are not old guys, and they can be carried. From what I have seen of Swisher he is an extremely streaky hitter but you live with that because he typically leads the AL in pitch counts. Johnson is also drawing high pitch counts. They are therefore contributing, minimally.
