The term comparing apples to apples comes to mind. What does the death toll of Covid-19 have to do with deaths of US servicemen in WW1? Absolutely nothing. One is a virus from China, and the other is world war.
By comparison, the total deaths from the only other pandemic, the Spanish Flu, was 675,000 deaths in the US and 50 million worldwide.

Btw there were 1,811, 000 approx Russian soldiers killed in WW1 that is also not relevant but what the hell. If we base it on that looks like Putin is doing a hell of a job on the virus that is if you believe his numbers in the slightest.
