Initially I had the same reaction. He is even more unhinged than ever and becoming more so as time goes by. Nevertheless, if he becomes the republican nominee, he can still secure 45% to 46% of the popular vote regardless of how unmoored he is. A third of the electorate are all in and will follow him to the gates of hell and back. Other republicans will vote for him just because he represents their political party as they will never not vote republican. And, because of how the arcane, archaic, and racist electoral college system works ( it was designed as a concession to Southern slave states), a republican candidate can win the presidency with a minority of the vote as he did in 2016. This man, and the entire MAGA cult movement, is a clear and present danger to our democracy and to world stability.

Exactly right. It's all about accountability and the rule of law. Two indictments down - two more likely to go. Trump is finally being held accountable for his behavior and his actions. Our democracy will be better and more durable for it. No one is above the law.
