I didn't follow the diffusion today but from what I heard his lawyers didn't show much effective arguments.
Competent lawyers don't seem to loose their reputation working for him.

Polls indicate that 56 % of Americans think Trump should be convicted.

That's encouraging because it mean that even though most Republicans will fail to do their constitutional duty to convict, the majority of Americans will see the GOP for the blatantly corrupt organization it is...just as the majority of Americans voted to get rid of Trump by giving Biden an overwhelming majority of the votes in the election that Trump tried to steal. History will take note of his second impeachment and he and his supporters will justifiably be infamous for their scorning of American values.

As proceedings officially began in the historic second impeachment of Donald Trump, some of his most loyal followers aren’t making things any easier for him.
The well known rioter, “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley, has claimed through his lawyer that he believes Trump instructed him and thousands of others to assault the Capitol. Trump’s defense team argues that the rioters acted “of their own accord” and that he told them to protest peacefully.

Republican Senators need to stand up and vote for impeachment. What kind of people are they to know what was done and who orchestrated this?

The videos presented by House managers on day two of the impeachment trial came with trigger warnings for those watching at home, due to the extreme violence on display inside the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.
